Isn’t that the honest truth. We women historically have had guidelines and expectations placed on us going way way back. I won’t stand for anyone judging me on my clothing choices or “ it’s not for women your age “ bologna on that. If I wanna wear cool new styles in jeans or tops or anything I will and I will hold my head high. If I don’t feel good in something then that’s my own choice not the Karen’s. Of the world. Lol.

I spent 65 years trying to keep up with fashion & be stylish but I finally came to realize that I needed to be presentable, comfortable & clean. I’m 4 months away from 83 & my comfortability is uppermost priority in my life. So, if I offend anyone or you think I look old, guess what, I am old & nothing will make me look younger. I’m not going to dress & look clownish just because I’m no longer young looking….

Hey Serena, you have a good outlook on what’s current and what’s making it over to the clearance rack. Some styles never were or will be a good look on your average woman and sometimes we just love it and don’t care. Other times we take a step back and say, you know what? She’s right! Wish everyone could listen with an open mind and not feel hurt or offended. If you don’t like these fashion ideas, just let ‘em roll right by. Why would you even tune in if it’s not something your open to? Adopt what agrees with your sense of who you are and let the other stuff go. I purged my purses and decided to go with just a few that are versatile in basic colors and leave the fun/funky designs for my beach carry all, or my shopping bags.

You don’t have to always have new things to look nice. Europeans have few but good quality items. They wear natural fibers like linen, cotton, silk, wool, and leather shoes that last a decade. You won’t be seeing them in loose threads, 40% polyester mixed or this cheap rayon stuff that’s thin and sweaty. Those folks spend a lot on their items and then wear them for ages. And still look sharp- they invest in timeless pieces, solid colors, few accent items.

I ran across this by chance and it makes sense. I am going to be 68 at the end of the year. Having had my kids late, being with them and a younger husband has kept me energetic and fashionable. It's fun! If you want to look your age, good for you. Comfort is so important not to mention changes that happen when we age that may determine the shoes we wear, etc. I am all for that. For me, learning these tips are fun to try. Thanks so much Serena. I enjoyed this video.

It seems that it was made for women who are around 50-ish still out in the workforce... so many women saying they are 70-90 and going to dress however they want, well yeah you're retired and you're probably at home... but once again why do they watch a video about how to dress to look younger? This entire video was spot on. I’m 65 but people are always shocked when they hear how old I am. You don’t have to spend a lot of money either. There is no excuse for looking frumpy unless of course you want to look that way. One thing not mentioned though is to keep your weight down! It’s so much better for your health and you’ll look better too in all those cute clothes. Yes, yes, I know it’s hard. It takes discipline but you have to like how you look and feel better than the taste of eating a lot of unhealthy food and if you can’t work out at least try walking 30 minutes 5 days a week. I've lost 35 lbs so far (need 20 to go), donated all of my bigger sized clothes & tossed clothes that were 20 years old!! Covid did a number on my thinning hair so now, after a lot of research, I wear nice Toppers or beautiful wigs. **Husband said that alone took 10 years off my looks!** Serena, please encourage ladies with thin hair to look at this option. I have no regrets. I love my "hair helpers." Just know gals, you don't want to go cheap. I also ordered 3 styles in the same color & same brand.... more realistic. Thank you Serena.... @@emilyduffy1410 Hi, Emily. Please re-read my post. The YT channels I suggested offer a treasure trove of information, plus they try on and review hundreds of wigs. To reiterate what I wrote in my above post, I am currently wearing Belle Tress brand wigs. The styles I am wearing are Caliente, Stumptown and Amaretto. For my skin tone, which is cool to neutral, I have been wearing the colors British Milk Tea and Roca Margarita Blonde. People compliment me on "my" gorgeous hair constantly lol. I do not tell them it's a wig, only my family and best friends know. Some people who wear wigs want to tell everyone when they are complimented that they wear wigs for the main purpose of normalizing wearing them, which I think is great. I just do not want to get into the whole conversation with people who are strangers and/or casual acquaintances. It's merely a personal preference. In any event, please do check out those channels and you will see for yourself which ones will fit your face shape, sense of style, color choices, etc. Godiva Secret Wigs, owned by a mother and daughter and who have a YT channel as well, also do one-on-one consultations, which I believe can be done via Zoom or similar program.

So little by little I purged my closet of the Bermuda shorts and replaced them with mid -thigh shorts. The incident forced me to look at my capris too, and sure enough I decided that those just didn’t look as good as cropped pants or ankle pants. So ankle pants are what I decided to go with.
