    Hi Serena, I’m not Bruce I’m Barb!! I love watching this great video! This summer I will be 74 and still watch my health ie diet and exercise daily and keeping active. What I do want to begin is Intermittent fasting!! I also loved your YT live! Is there any possibility of doing makeup tips for women older than 50? If so I would be interested. Much love to you and your continued success! ❤️Barb D

    Great video on fitness!! Love your tips and tricks on everything. I am so fortunate to have a have a great fitness class and do better in a group. Only because I wouldn't do weights at home, tried and never stayed with it. They are texting me if I don't show up and we have so much fun! I love New Balance too and if your foot doctor recommends a power step pad like mine did , you can take the pad completely out of the shoe and insert the recommended pad in that shoe or any tennis shoe you have. Right now I am in Vionic tennis shoes which has a removeable pad that you could move to another pair. Posture is so important keeping us aligned and I know you agree. Hope you are having fun at the beach!!!

    Hi Serena…I loved all the info. You look young and fit. I love all your cute clothes you showed. I can see why your neighbor has that cute dress in all the colors . Two years ago I lost fifteen pounds by drinking lots of water and eating what I want…not how much I want. I tell people this…I quit demonizing foods as a good food or a bad food. Recently, I had my thyroid blood tests and found out my thyroid t4 was at an awfully low level , but I lost seven more pounds this year. I get my thyroid tested soon, since my thyroid meds changed . I used to crave something sweet or fattening and I would eat ten things I did not want and then I also would eat what I was craving. I will say I cook, and we hardly ever eat fast foods. I have been active pretty much since we moved to five acres almost thirty years ago. There is always something to do, and I have always walked and push mowed , gardened etc. When I heard you on this video…I thought I kind of do a mini intermittent lifestyle. I eat a very small breakfast, hardly ever eat lunch, and eat a good dinner…whatever we want and if I want something sweet I will eat it or a few dates from Aldis they are like a rich dessert .You have done a great job of keeping your arms and shoulders looking very toned. You do have nice toned legs too. Thanks Serena. ❤❤❤❤

    Aw thanks Rita! I'm with you..I'm Done demonizing food. My mom Was thin all her life and she managed it by how much she ate, not what she ate. Of course, she did cook most every day, so there was not that much eating out because we lived in a rural area. Even so, we ate plenty of red meat, pork, mashed potatoes & gravy! Plus rolls or biscuits with just about every dinner. It's really about portion control and Not eating too much processed and/or deep fried foods. Fried foods tend to set off my IBS so I try to avoid them but sometimes I NEED my McDonalds French fries! I crave carbs & savory food much more than sweets so desserts/sugar doesn't tempt me that much. My husband is the opposite. He's a sugar Addict! As a result, he has high A1C but is now on meds for it & he's lost 30 lbs! So that's another tip. Visit your Df regularly for a complete blood panel!

    @@StylewithSerena I used to preach to my husband about his sweets addiction. I used to preach to him about seeing an eye doctor…had not gone for thirty some years. His blood work is beyond perfect the doctor said. He finally went to the eye doctor.His eye sight other than wearing readers is perfect. He has no other eye problems. Serena, I quit preaching.🤣🤣🤣I guess my only real problem that shows up in my blood work is hypothyroidism..so I will always take thyroid meds. I did something stupid. My insurance did not want to pay for my natural thyroid. I take Armour which is desiccated pig thyroid. The pharmacist recommended something else my insurance paid for and I think it messed up my thyroid panel. So, I now take my Armour and the last two times the price has not been bad. Have a great rest of the week. ❤️

  • @StylewithSerena
    @StylewithSerena14 сағат бұрын

    You go by what the book says. Start out with 16:8 and go from there. I settled in on a 17:7 schedule but sometimes stretch it out to 18:6 or even longer. Just depends.

    Hi, Serena. Does the Health drink break your fast? Their site recommends to drink it in the morning for greatest absorption (on empty stomach). But If I have to wait until noon or 1pm to drink it, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to sleep that night. I’ve really been enjoying your content. Thank you for mixing it up and keeping it real.

  • @StylewithSerena
    @StylewithSerena14 сағат бұрын

    Yes it would break your fast. Anything besides water, black coffee or unsweetened tea breaks your fast. But you don't have to wait until 12 or 1. Start at 10 and be done eating at 4, 5, or 6 depending on how long you want to fast. Sometimes I go ahead & eat before my husband & son to have dinner before my window closes.

    Hi. I enjoyed your video and learning your workout routine. My lifestyle is one of regular exercise. I go to the health club 5x a week where I walk on a treadmill, then do some weights and machines. I am so glad I started doing arm exercises for toning many decades ago. I, too, had done step aerobics for many years back in the day and loved it. But, now it is the treadmill or in the nicer weather, I walk outside, or bike ride. I go dancing on the weekends. I eat a balanced diet and stay away from fast food and limit sweets.

    All the outfits look really cute on you! I love intermittent fasting. It really works for me and I don't feel deprived. I don't always do it but try to most times and I mostly only eat two meals a day. In my life I have never really needed to lose more than 20 lbs but I have had to lose those 20 lbs several times in my life (quitting smoking, post baby, times of job stress). I tried pretty much every diet out there. The worst one for me was keto! I hated every minute of it. It is so restrictive. I love my fruit and missed it so much when I did keto. I also love my carbs. It's strange but I actually lose weight when I eat carbs as I feel satisfied and eat less. Anyway, I have found intermittent fasting to be the best method of weight control for me. I have worked out pretty much my whole adult life and love working out. No more 1 or 1.5 hr workouts for me anymore though. 10-20 minute workouts at home are all I do now in addition to my daily walks. I walk 45 minutes every single day regardless of the weather. Yes, I have done my walks in -35 degree celsius weather here in Canada. I've also walked in the rain with my umbrella. No excuses for me!

  • @StylewithSerena

    That's great!!!! You sound a lot like me (aside from walking in those weather extremes!). I've never needed to lose more than 20 lbs in my life but I've had to do it multiple times. The hardest of course being after having my son at age 43. Right before I had him, I weighed the most of my life...184 lbs! On my 5'2" frame! Of course a lot of that was baby & fluid and I was terribly swollen. But by the time all the "easy" weight came off, I was still 20 lbs heavier than I was before I got pregnant. And it's been the hardest 20 lbs of my life!

    I tried the intermittent fasting and did an 18 hour fast. I was trying to lose the 5 lbs I gained over the holidays. I just couldn't lose any weight. I did it with two plain spinach, onion and feta cheese salads a day. Nothing else. I stopped after 6 weeks because it's not enough to eat. Maybe my set point got too low. I did feel real good. My blood sugars kept crashing. Maybe because I'm 70. I increased my low carb high protein diet a little and stopped fasting and list the 5 lbs. Go figure! I also go to the gym every other day to do some cardio and the weight machines. I'm trying to build muscle. It's so important at my age. I really enjoy the weight machines.

    Serena, thank you so much for the Victoria Secret sports bra recommendation. I've been trying to find a good bra for two years with no luck. The VS bra is excellent. I wear a D size and it actually minimizes me down a size. You can actually run in it without bouncing, which is painful. It tucks everything in and pulls your breasts to your chest wall. I got two of them and use them for my every day bra. My son made a comment that my gym workouts must be working because I looked 10lbs thinner. I told him (to his embarrassment) that it was my new bra! It also washed very well. It's machine washable, hang to dry.
