Talking about the first part of conversation, I find this was a one off. If there is money on the table you should not leave it. The employer also have tactics to negotiate and it's reasonable to do so. You having a number in mind and the role might have a much higher budget. You will most likely not know. Accepting the first offer is infact sign of someone who is not a catch.

Before initiating the negotiation, ensure that your initial salary range was based on thorough research of the market rates for your role, skills, and experience. You should be confident that your skills and experience merit a higher salary.

Reply them with: 1. I dont think my current CTC is a representation of my current skill sets 2. The roles and responsibilities mentioned for this job are irrelevant to the current salary by previous company 3. Its confidential and breach of employment terms and contract(sharing confidential PII - Personal Identifiabe Information), its also mentioned in the contract to not disclose such information while serving the company and even uptil 1 year post serving to the company and shall also be mentioned in ur company's(New company's) employment letter. Also, you(new company) asking for previous company's payslip is you yourself breaching your employment terms and promoting immoral and unethical practices. Also, if I do the same withing your company(breaching employment terms or sharing company's secrets or sharing PII abut you to some other company), I hope you will also not be okay with it and probably may take serius action against me as well. So, I apologise, but I can't provide you with payslips from the current job. Still, if they ask you, then dont send them.

Make them feel guillty to ask you about your current CTC. If they do more drama, just ask the HR to discose his/her current CTC via mail
