Woman Who Wrote 'How to Murder Your Husband' Essay Faces Murder Trial in Husband's Death. In this video, Nancy Brophy is on trial for murder in the 2018 death of her culinary instructor husband, Dan Brophy. Authorities said they discovered that Brophy purchased a 9mm pistol at a Portland gun show before her husband's death. She then allegedly switched out the gun's barrel with a Glock slide and barrel she had purchased on eBay - "thus being able to present a new, fully intact firearm to police that would not be a match to the shell casings that she left at the crime scene," prosecutors said in previous motions.

Chase, I noticed her illustrators stopping when the 2 barrels are compared and she is being asked about why she bought the additional sliding barrel. I particularly love the phrase "how would I have known the gun was heavy if I hadn't held it", which to me shows her process of deconflicting. I feel like she thinks that was very clever of her.

1:05 I'm a little surprised no one mentioned her verbage when she said that her husband would sell "crap off the cart." If I remember the backstory, he was the sole breadwinner and that was a part of their household income. Using the word "crap" to refer to the products sold by her dear husband that she loves so much seems very disrespectful. It may have been a glimpse into how she felt about his career and the contempt she felt for him.

In response to her saying "I played with it" in regards to the sliding barrel, it's common in Texas (born/raised in Houston) to say that "playing with it" as a means to figure out how to do something. Not necessarily to be unsafe with it. I just wanted to clarify that in that instance, that's more what she meant. She was learning how to do it and therefore "playing with it".

I love true crime, but I'm actually here for alexithymia (lacking a vocabulary for emotions), and this extends to my facial expression/tone as well as interpreting the same in others. I've always been terrible at it, but didn't know I was on the spectrum until fairly recently. These videos are SOOOO helpful for learning what various facial expressions and tone indicate, learning to pick up on the discomfort or dishonesty of others, etc. It's actually created a vast improvement to my life, and I would love to see those back again. Close - the 4 analyzed a man whose wife was missing at the time, and she was soon after found dead. He was the obvious potential suspect, being the partner of the missing woman, but it was determined later that he had nothing to do with it. I don’t remember the case or their names - they may have been out of the UK or Australia, and the video was older (lesser quality). Nevertheless, I remember thinking that wow, this guy is the best liar I had ever seen … as I presumed he must be guilty. But the truth was that he had merely been honest, innocent, scared and stressed.
