Girl my family has had the tradition of making tamales every Christmas but ever since I became vegetarian, I haven’t been able to participate. This makes me so happy

Wow, tons of vegetarian ingredients out there, and also vegan too!❤
I made vegan tamales yesterday and used jackfruit so it would be like traditional Chile verde tamales and they are crazy close to the real thing! Everyone loved them! The bean mixture looks really good, I will try it next time!

Hi Jasmine & Chris, Yum! The only "Suggestion" I have is adding "Chile in the Masa" it makes the "Tamales" flavorful throughout! Thanks, for "making my dreams if Vegan Tamales come true!" Blessings to you, Chris, Caitlyn and Barry, Piper

Sorry, I don't remember what "Kind" of Chile, My Grandma used (it's been over 30 yrs.) She went to Heaven;
I’ve only had tamales after going vegan and I love them! Your food always come out really good, so I trust you on sharing flavorful recipes. I cannot wait to make these. Thank you!!
Seriously cannot wait to make these! Tamales are one of my faves and I never knew how easy they were to make. Thank you so much!
The only tamales I’ve had are the ones I had while living in New Mexico. Pork simmered in NM Hatch peppers was the filling. Some people used the broth from the pork chili mix to the masa for extra flavor. Huge, Ginormous batches were made at a time and sold by the dozen to eager buyers. (Like me). The Chili’s were actually roasted in batches (a big burlap bag full of chili’s)in big round metal screen cages turned over a flame till charred, then returned to the burlap sack to take home and peel the skins off. Right in the grocery store parking lot! Thanks for a vegan option. They are time consuming, but oh so delicious! I just might make these 😍
Even before I went vegan, I was not much of a meat eater. The exception to that was TAMALES! I'm definitely going to make these!!!

I’m here to say that I made your oil-free tamales, and they were INCREDIBLE. My family devoured all of them in two days and basically fought over the leftovers. Thank you so much for posting that version! We will make these again and again. ☮️🌿🌈

This is the best one I have find on KZread thank you guys for the tips and recipe
thanks for the great ideas!!
Mmm tamales!! I’ve never had them before but maybe I should make them for Christmas for a nice change!
The one in El Salvador/Costa Rica, the dough used is made of plantains and potato and they are wrapped with a banana leaf. Id love to see more sweet tamales like strawberry and cherry 😋
I think you are thinking about the Salvadoran tamales. ☺🇸🇻. My mom makes them every year for either Christmas or New years! They typically use platano leaves aka plantain leaves. The masa is a bit more moist as well like you mentioned. But I loved this recipe they look amazing.😍. Love and good vibes to you both!!!
U can steam tamales in the instapot also
I am going to try this for my birthday. I am very excited..
Haven't heard of Tamales vegan or otherwise before I watched this video. It is good to learn something new everyday. I will have to try them out.
Thank you for this video and recipe. Just made these - the bean version, no oil - delicious!
I DID make the potato and bean! They were YUMMY and flavorful. 🙂 TY! Made our Christmas dinner extra special and memorable .

This year I made @the raw boy tamales again. I marinate the jack fruit for 3 days but I didn't have cumin so they didnt come out as good as last year so I made your potato pinto mix minus cilantro and cumin. And I added it with the jack fruit and they came out so good.

I've been seeing vegan tamales everywhere. I think I need to try and make some.
OK like Diez K-B below I have also had a bag of masa for months but been afraid of the time commitment but you guys made it sound fun, so gonna go 4 it!
I love tamales. Some people have Taco Tuesdays. I have Tamale Tuesdays. Since going vegan, it's a lot harder to find pre-made tamales that are vegan. I have found some at Whole Foods and my local market. But making my own would be awesome. Thanks!
Loved drunk Chris😂😂
It depends on the country, in Colombia it’s made with plantain leaf, and the one made with the corn husks are sweet and called “envueltos”
This seems a bit over my expertise as a chef but someone needs to make these for me! I love Mexican food ❤️

Our favorite vegan tamales are: red chile & zucchini, or black bean, corn & spinach, or black bean. We serve them with red chile sauce (vegan), green chile sauce (vegan) and homemade vegan mexican rice.

Great video
:) I'm addicted to tamales, vegan, habenro chilies, green olives, refried beans, i've never done potato though, that's an interesting idea. :) I ususually cook like 400 of the damn things, freeze about 300 of them. :)
Another YTvid showed how to make green chile tamales but she used a LOT of corn oil in the tomatillo prep. Any idea how to do this w/o oil or would a different oil (olive, avocado, etc) work just a well. Corn oil is not healthy.
YUM! I want tamales now 🤤 And yes please to a beer video!! 🍺

Sorry you talked a little fast when you got to the dough that you use to smear on the husk. What dough did you use please. Also are there replacements for that and what can I use if I dont have. Elsje Massyn the dough is a cornmeal paste called masa. Often it is held together with pork fat. The corn is processed with alkali. I think any corn paste that can be passed into a dough should do. I think you have a cornmeal dish there that is common?
