The way you did it was the old fashioned way. I love that. 💘 I grew up in Brooklyn, NYC and our block was literally the United Nations. We took turns in everyone's house and man... was I so blessed. Peasants around the World used what they had. People like Anthony Bourdain traveled and learned their secrets, took it to expensive restaurants. Home cooking has always been better, it just takes time and labor. That's what you pay for in those fancy restaurants. You don't need blenders and all that fancy stuff at home. Keep it simple. I learned about Mirin and Tahini today and how to use it properly. I learned how to make foods from around the world but not certified as a chef bc it's so expensive to go to culinary school. Arigato, for your time. ❤
I am Vegan..and love japanese food..thank you for sharing such a simple an delicious dressing..watching you from Bali...☺☺

Any reason for the silly multiple fullstops between words? "I am vegan* and love Japanese* food" is one full consistent sentence.
I saw this video and immediately subscribed to your channel. I am from Saudi Arabia and I absolutely love Japanese food. I really appreciate the simplicity of the recipes and substitutions. Thank you for introducing me to Japanese home cooking.
Thank you so much for these recipes. And thanks for not putting us through the cutting of vegetables. Short and sweet and to the point!
Thank you Chef Taiji... I learnt a new way of making the Onion dressing today... Since i am Vegan, i make my own dressing always and prefer to make more Asian dishes and Washoku is one of my favourites after having lived in Japan for 22 years... Domo Arigatou gozaimasu 💝🙏
I just made dressing #2 with my homemade Tahini. Oh man, it was so delicious I ate a whole head of lettuce with it. I'm hooked now. So simple to make too. Thank you for sharing the recipe. Subscribed!

@@cdsand45s It will-- it's so good with crunchy broccoli, choi sum, pak choy, chicken/tofu! YUM! And make a GIANT salad bowl with cous cous, feta, avocado, egg, tofu and all the other stuff you like then mix it in. Soooo good. As a cheat, find the Kewpie brand's 'Deep Roasted Sesame Dressing'. It's the OG and worth every penny-- the cheaper versions from other manufacturers don't taste right. Also, it's the one dressing that makes me eat natto and actually enjoy it.

@@Spangletiger I make my own tahini all the time and I love it. I roast the seeds first and add a bit of salt. I also add about one tablespoon of (sesame) oil to the food processor as I am making it. It is considerably thicker than the commercial product, but it suits me perfectly. It has more the consistency of homemade peanut butter. It makes me feel very accomplished to eat tahini I have made myself.

It's the best! When making a variety of dressings for parties or certain dishes it's so helpful to have something like this on offer. Super versatile and a nice change to the soy sauce-forward or Korean kinds of dressings . It's a great channel, I agree.
I have been looking for Japanese style dressings and these look delicious! Looking forward to trying them out! Thank you!
Just discovered your channel, so happy to have some of these recipes. I have not been able to travel to Japan in the last three years and I have been craving the simple homemade food! Thank you

I was looking for more alternatives on how to cook vegetables. I am a vegetable lover but don't have much time to cook and you just gave me some simple, fast, great ideas and they look so delicious. Have most the ingredients on hand except for the bonito flakes in the previous video. Thanks for sharing...Lorena.😊😊😊👏👏👏 New subscriber here!

I substituted the bonito flakesbwith our leftover pork adobo that we had flaked to use as a sandwich spread. It was delicious.
Sesame Dressing for the win! YUM! I have it on everything, especially great on natto, brocolli, choi sum and other greens (not to mention cous cous-based salad bowls with feta, tofu and avocado etc). For everybody who craves it but lacks the time or patience, cheat by buying Kewpie's Deep Roasted Sesame Dressing. Accept no substitures, this is the OG and worth every penny. I love this channel. Thanks for starting it and continuing it with your discipline and creativity. I love Japan and miss it so much. Here's hoping we can all travel normally in 2023. Suitcases going missing due to issues within the aviation sector is a great concern so I'll be patient until things equalise. 👍
You are great. Enjoyed learning how to make these delicious dressings. Thanks.
My future husband is half Japanese so I’m learning to make him snacks 🥰😂

Hello! I just stumbled across this video and I loved it! I subscribed. I can't wait to make salad dressing! I've been searching for a good recipe for Japanese ginger salad dressing, but can't find one. Can you please do a video for that, or send me a recipe? Thank you so much for sharing your recipes!
hi nice sauces great video. I've been looking for dressings and this is perfect , however i am not a vegetarian either so some times in my salad i would put meat like small chonks of braised pork belly ,grill fish ,chicken or beef
Thank you so much for these vegan recipes! There used to be a brilliant Japanese grocery store in Soho (London), where I'd shop and I was trying to describe tahini to one of the staff because there didn't seem to ba a Japanese equivalent in the store, even though there were toasted sesame seeds and sesame oil. I wondered if a similar paste might be used in Japanese dishes. The Ponzo sauce is an interesting combination (I'm just a lemon away from trying that one out!). We can get bottled yuzu juice here but I doubt that we have the climate to grow the fruit itself. Also, I'm in awe of your suribachi-surikogi skills! I have a larger set and I still manage to leave a halo of debris on the table by the time I've finished grinding stuff! 🤦🏻♀️
I appreciate that you are substituting various ingredients that may be hard to obtain outside of Japan. This makes it much easier for someone like me that lives in the rurals of Oz. I subscribed and look forward to more culinary gems. Thank you.
