How To Make The Jeep Wrangler 392 2WD with The Tazer JL Mini | Inside Line

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

When the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392 initially launched, Jeep fans across the globe rejoiced at the fact you could finally get a V8 from the factory. However, some of that steam was quickly deflated when it was revealed that it would not come with the two-wheel-drive option. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for the tuning wizards at Z Automotive to figure out how to trick the MP3022 transfer case into going into 2WD.
On this Inside Line, we’ll show you just how this works along with a few other new features of the Tazer JL Mini.

Me to but after seeing all the vids and number users that are out there like Ali, I felt that it would be safe. Also, it helped when my Jeep dlr wanted 200 bucks to reprogram my Gladiator for my new 35's it became an easy decision. It is very easy to use, and you can just easily uninstall (un-pair) it if you need actual warranty service. I bought the light version, but it looks like you can upgrade to the full version by paying for a software update to unlock the full feature list later on if you want. I've been happy so far totally issue free...

I was told that flashing involves reprogramming the gear module not just the speedometer. which I think is not true cause I have not felt any difference in response or transmission shifting whatsoever. but I had to do it since it could be a warrantee issue

I'm surprised by this. I thought that the transfer case shifter engaged a manual lock for the front and rear driveshafts in 4H-part-time and 4L. Is that not the case? Is the same electronic clutch pack used when you shift into 4H-part-time, and the lever is now an electronic-selector-only?

  • @NoNamesAvailable81

@@akramer My transfer case is in 4wd sending power to the front wheels, but the FAD never connects the passenger side wheel to the differential. The power to the front just goes to spinning part of the passenger side front axle. If I engage my front locker, only my driver side wheel gets power.

(2) I put 37s and although the 470 hp, the 4.56 gears and 8sp make a good job sometimes the Jeep is in D7 and revs up to 3-4k RPMs and doesn’t shift to D8. If you upgraded already to 37s please let me know your feedback on the shifting

I know exactly what you’re talking about with the 4WD auto flashing on the dash. Mine will do that if I swap to 2WD after I started driving it. So, if I am waiting at a light and I decide to click into 2WD, it will randomly flash from time to time. I found, if I let it default to 2WD where it remembers the setting previously or do it right out of the gate after star up, it doesn’t flash. I have not moved up to 37s yet.

There is another video on here of a guy going to 37s even without the XR package. Without doing any adjustments it would rub while full right or left. It would also rub when fully articulated for the articulation I’m curious if the extra 1.5 inch from the XR package would help prevent rubbing. As for when it’s full left or right it barely contacted but would probably still need an offset or spacer.

Correct. It doesn’t have the 2wd selection from the factory.

@@DrivingLine man, bit of a bummer, rather have mechanical than digital selection, surprised they still have 4WD hi/lo mechanical, I had a ‘92 Mazda Navajo (2 Door Ford Explorer ), that had that push button 4WD, hated it, the days where you had to back up to unlock the hubs. Gotta say, my 1997 Isuzu Trooper had the best 4WD system in all the SUVs I drove (91 TJ, 92 Explorer, 82 Grand Wagoneer, 2007 Commander (QuadraTec), 2016 CX5 (AWD), 2016 JKU), only vehicle better was my friend’s 2003 4Runner. Never got stuck, I had it in 3ft freshly fallen snow, 1ft deep mud, always got me out.

🤷🏻‍♂️ This is a video about making the 392 able to have 2WD. We have plenty of wheeling videos on our site where we put a multitude of Jeeps to the test.

@@DrivingLine you still don’t get it !!! Jeeps are not high horsepower drag strip rocket ships. They are compact capable low horsepower off road vehicles. They crawl slowly over rocks and have systems that for the most part can be repaired by a non-mechanic people out on the trail !
