Always put the oil in first let it get hot then add the popcorn ..You get a better success rate at all kernels being popped..💯

With that oil, add one kernel of corn and when it pops, you're ready to put the rest in.

Equal parts oil and butter. The oil protects the butter from scorching. And then you don't have to melt butter after the popcorn is done.

couple things to consider. Its better to have a handle and shake it while popping in order to prevent kernals from burning. Its best to have it not completely covered to prevent the popcorn from getting soggy. Personally I use a cheap air popper because nothing can go wrong.

Back in the early 80s, dad would make it in a pot and then dump it into a paper shopping bag, then melt butter and pour it in as well as salt. It had the best 'fried' taste to it.....if you go to an event that has someone cooking kettle corn in a big ol' cauldron.....that has the fried taste I'm talking about.

How many kernels and how mush oil you have depends on the size of your pot or pan. There has to be enough room for the popped kernels to expand, if there's not the bottom ones will burn and stick to the bottom.

you can but it is more likely to smoke more and burn your popcorn. It is really better to cook it with an oil, like corn oil. You can add melted butter and salt once it is cooked, though, for the flavor you are likely wanting.
