I've made meat pies using this recipe 5 times now and each time it comes out perfectly. I've gotten so many compliments so I just had to come back to thank you for this video. My daughter has many allergies (eggs and milk inclusive) so i now use vegan butter, and substitute the eggs with coconut milk. I then glaze with a mixture of coconut milk and vegetable oil. There has been no difference in the taste and the compliments still keep coming. Thank you for this winning recipe!

I guess this is where our ancestors in America got our recipe from . We make ours the same way in Mississippi and New Orleans except we don’t add potatoes. We call them Natchitoches or Mississippi meat pies.
Wow!, this is d best meatpie I'd ever made, was reluctant to try it at first, because it seemed so different from the rest, but I got convinced by d time I read d comments, and trust me, it was worth it. Go lady, more recipes

I was sceptical trying your pie recipe cause have never seen anyone adding egg and sugar to a pie dough. But finally yesterday I gave it a try and bake 60 pieces of pies for a family baby dedication. My name was everywhere for the best pie ever! It was so delicious. Thank you😘👍
I agree with Tobi O, this is the best meat pie recipie ever!! I was amazed at the results. The meat pie tastes exactly like the meat pie I used to eat when I was younger. The pastry is lovely and buttery with a slight crunch at the edges. I have shared this recipie with my family and friends and have made meat pie twice already since watching the video 😆. The end result beats anything you can buy in the shops. I think using egg instead of water to bind the flour together gives the pastry that extra edge. Love it!!! Thanks Ivonne

This is by far the best meat pie recipe. I have made this so many times and it always turns out perfect and so delicious. Very classic and takes me back to my Mum making them. I don’t get people adding carrot to it like I saw in some KZread videos doesn’t give you that classic Nigerian meat pie taste. This is an absolutely brilliant recipe. Thank you for sharing.

My daughter. You share my own daughter's name. I wanted to include in her name, Ife, but my mom thought that African name would hurt her. Her name is Yvonne Marie, which she has her great great grand fraternal mother's middle name, Marie. Lol. Ife will always be my silent name for her. Wow. This was 1970. How times have evoked a positive and living embrace of African culture amongst Black Americans.

😂😂after laughing at this comment. I realised when I made meat pie with this recipe, My "Nigerian husband " finished 90% of the batch. P/s: we are both from Nigeria. There must be something about this recipe😊👌🏾
I just finished making this and I got something better than the average meat pie I have ever tasted.........a scrumptious crunchy edged meat pie. Wow, for a moment while mixing the dough I thought I have succeeded in wasting my ingredients AGAIN. I felt my dough was too oily and every thing was going to crumble if I proceed to bake. I was going to pack the minced meat filling and freeze😣. However, for some reasons I couldn't stop the process. My mind gave up but not my hands. Can someone tell how glad I am about this? I made 15 pieces of the medium sized (Mr Bigs size) with this exact recipe and I eat 3 while taking them out of the oven.lol Thank you for this video. PS Finally I can make this for my church members to have a taste of Nja

I made meat pie for the first time every today using your recipe. I tweaked it a little by adding the water to the egg to ensure that I didn't over handle it and I let the dough rest for over an hour. A few hours and tons of prayers later, my meat pie was ready and it was PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!. The best I've ever tasted and my brother said the same thing. All my family members couldn't stop raving and I'm so impressed with the crust. Amazing texture. Perfect!!! The greatest thing of all is that I gave a piece to one of my 'mummies' and she called later tonight saying that someone else wants to order 6 dozen meat pies. 💃💃💃💃💃. I can't thank you enough. God bless and prosper you greatly. Amen

Thank you so much!🥰 I watched yesterday and decided to do it today. I’m watching again while baking 🥧🤤😋 Kids will love it when they come back home from school. I’m a Pacific 🌴 Islander but I Love Nigerian food 😁😍 esp your recipe thanks ❤️ new subbie love from Sweden 🇸🇪
I discovered ur recipes a few months ago & I especially loved ur coconut rice - just like home. 😊 I've got a tip 4 ur meat pie pastry - freeze de butter/margarine & grate with in a food processor or cheese grater. It quicker 2 combine flour & butter. If using cheese grater - keep dusting hands/grater with flour in mixing bowl.
Yass please make more cooking videos madam Abeg I need help oooo 💗 your Kenyan sista!
Lol I'm in secondary school and my mum is too lazy to show me how to cook Nigerian dishes. this was sooo easy to follow loved making it! And it tasted great!!

Buzzin Boi you are so rude
This recipe comes out better than all the others on KZread. Tastes great.
Those look DELICIOUS!!! I would LOVE to make some! I am astonished at how easy it seemed, and I wanted to try making some right away. Only problem is, I have trouble converting the metric measurements into US measurements. I know that too much or too little of an ingredient makes a world of difference with flavor. I hate to be a bother, but in future videos (and this one too would be great), can I ask that you say measurements like "cup", the same as you did for teaspoon, and tablespoon? I only ask bcuz I want to get it right. Thank you so much, dear.

Had the exact same issue, the solution is in your question "barely added water". Add more water and kneed properly until it has an elastic/stretchy consistency. Three failed pie attempts before I realised this :)
