How To Make Mexican-Style Steak Au Poivre | Made In Cookware
Learn how to add a zesty Mexican twist to Steak Au Poivre, a classic French dish. James Beard Award-winning Chef Edgar Rico of Nixta Taqueria in Austin, Texas visits the Made In Studio to show us how to develop a great crust on a steak and make a killer Chipotle-Cream pan sauce with the drippings. His secret? Swapping out the usual cognac for mezcal and adding a spicy kick with chipotle chiles. This recipe is perfect for a cozy dinner party of four, but it can easily be halved for a romantic night in with your special someone. This tantalizing dish comes together beautifully thanks to the unbridled searing power of the Made In Enameled Cast Iron Skillet.

He's one of the best!
I also like to add green peppercorns in brine to the sauce. Makes such a difference - even when added to shop bought sauces. Great video. I do wish more restaurants served steaks like you do them. Damn it! It isn't hard and they charge enough these days.
That was fun!
Nixta is amazing. And I can’t wait to try this spin on steaks.
Nixta is one of my favorite places ever - stoked to try this at home!

This skillet looks good and sounds very functional (and easier to maintain). Sadly, I went all in on Lodge Cast Iron so I have my cast iron fix taken care of. Interesting take on Steak Au Poivre. I don't think I go for that amount of heat. Plus being lactose intolerant I would find some sort of heavy cream alternative. Sadly the hardest part in watching this video is the timing between doing the steaks and making the sauce. Getting both to line up time wise is the toughest part here and some magical editing helped out. Great video though, love my other Made In cookware and Chef's Knife!
Nixta is so good! This looks so good!
looks amazing thanks chef!

Hope you like it!
This looks great, although I am not a big fan of mezcal so I would substitute tequila. I definitely want to try this one.
This guy is funny
Y las tortillas?
So if i cook this for Valentine's day that means I'm a good boyfriend right?
