You seem to know about this dish. The recipe starts with bread crumbs but it looks like there's something else in the bread crumbs.

@@vpm7ginnie784 It is bread crumbs, but fresh ones, meaning they probably made it themselves, that's why it looks big and uneven. You can simply toast some white bread then grate them, or like they did, using food processor. Stale bread works better too :)
Thank you for your question. We'd recommend adding fresh parsley to the sauce at the end, right before serving it - to be sure the flavor remains. You can also garnish with fresh parsley when serving. Enjoy!

Hi, XL Lee. Yes, the sauce should cook for 90 minutes so the flavors will develop. The 90-minute cooking time is also specified in the original recipe. If you are using fresh herbs, triple the amount called for dry herbs in the recipe. For each teaspoon of dry herbs, you'd want to use a tablespoon of fresh herbs.

Thank you for your question, Haneen. The egg acts as a binder for these meatballs, so we'd recommend leaving it in the recipe. If you are allergic to eggs, try using an egg replacement or you can mash one boiled potato instead and add it to the meatballs.

doesn't the grease get it the sauce from the meat? Isn't that way you should drain grease?

Made this dish for the family tonight. The aroma filled our home and it was a delight to enjoy our first home made spaghetti and meatball meal. This is a keeper.
I used premade sauce and it turned out great. The meatballs were the best meatballs I've tasted so far. I was surprised because when I made them I didn't use any measurements. I am doing this again! Thanks for sharing!!
I have been making this exact recipe with no alterations for some time now. The Family absolutely loves it. Be sure to follow the directions and trust the recipe. It has its rating on the site for a reason. Lemme know how it goes if you do try it !!

Great question, Mandy. We'd recommend a little bit of both. You can slightly crush or break up the tomatoes before adding them in. Enjoy!
update:Thank you for this recipe. i love following recipes like these and then adding/substituting a bit to make it suitable to my taste. i did it! it was great! i just added fresher ingredients. instead of dried parsley and dried basil, i put fresh parsley and basil as well as freshly chopped garlic for the meatballs. and yeah the 90 minute thing was a little taxing but the flavor changed and became stronger after the 90 minutes of simmering. i also added chopped portobello mushrooms in the sauce. :)

I've tried this recipe, it has a really great flavor! Don't leave out anything. It tastes really really good!
I didn't have bread crumbs or parsley so I substituted it for corn bread mix and oregano... This is the best things I've ever cooked! Also I didn't have garlic cloves so I used the garlic powder again for the sauce. *I CANT WAIT TO GET THE FULL INGREDIENTS SO I CAN MAKE IT RIGHT!!!*

Not good:-Cheese: high links to arthritis, heart disease-Eggs: same as above-Meat: high levels of IGF-1 (insulin like growth factor)-heavy links to cancer and heart disease-Bread crumbs: dough fat- linked to internal inflammation, full of processed junk....why not use organic oatmeal??-Olive Oil: YIKES, heating olive oil incites the development of acrylamides-poisonous dangerous substances. Oil is a hugh fat substance, with big links to sugar and insulin disturbances in the body.......mainly just a fatty substance-The noodles are probably not edamame or something nutritious either....c'mon guys, you're simply killin' yourselves....give it up, and get off the medication

Sure can! Bake them in the oven first at 350-375F and then in the sauce on top of the stove. Enjoy!
Been using this recipe for a couple years really good
I changed the fact that I use splenda instead of regular sugar and started telling people this was MY recipe! Best recipe for spaghetti and meatballs I have found on youtube. Although the prepation takes a bit long.

I made my sauce with a red pepper and I used pork & beef for my meatballs. My mother was flapping around because we had lots of family coming round, so I said "Ma, you go relax; I'll cook". My sister and her husband were wiping the saucepan with garlic bread at the end of the meal lol, was amazing; thanks for your help!

I just used this recipe for the second Sunday in a row. we always have a Sunday dinner. it has to be an awesome dinner. this recipe, with cesar salad, my family thought they were in an Italian restaurant. instead of a dozen meatballs, I covered the top of the sauce pan, because there can never be enough meatballs, they disappear quick.
I'm not sure what they put in it but Uruguayans of Italian descent make literally the best Rigatoni I've ever had in my life. It's a recipe that I guess would translate to English as Ziti/Rigatoni in thick ragu sauce that is thickened with a little milk and parmesan. Then they top it with a few strips of thin beef steak and just a slight drizzle of beef gravy. Dear God. Again I don't know the recipe but the sauce tastes very "tomato-y" yet with no acidity and without any sugary sweetness. AMAZING.

You can certainly reduce the amount of olive oil in this recipe so it's just enough to soften the onions. Enjoy :)

I loved it! I mean, I tweaked it a lot, and accidentally burnt the bottom part and had to scrape that off, and add a whole can of tomato sauce, water, and extra spices to fix it. Meh. Worth it. I'd love to make this for a family gathering.
