Making this now for incoming family tomorrow!
I have all the ingredients and I'm going to make this tonight. Thank you Julia.
Looks delish. And you are such a good teacher, Julia!
I love feta. I'm particularly fond of Greek salads. This salad is right up my alley and ill be making it soon. Thanks!
Can't wait to make this! P.S. made it tonight! Totally delish. Didn't have a lot of mint, but had some fresh dill from the garden, and cilantro. Used the entire cuke, used red onion scallions from the farmers market, and added chopped kalamata olives. Super good! Will make again for an upcoming gathering.
Definitely making this salad! Thank you guys for these great shows!
Great recipe!! Where can I purchase that serving bowl?
I absolutely love scallions too !! I always keep them on hand too as it really does freshen up so many dishes !! An important technique you did, and I do to, is sliding a knife down the white end of the scallions lengthwise, before dicing them, allowing the scallions to open up and spread out into whatever you are preparing !! This gives the scallion a lighter flavor and texture to the dish !! 👏🏼😋
Hi! I have watched you for years on America's Test Kitchen you are awesome.
Since I have both cucumber and mint coming out the yin yang in my garden, I'll be making this soon.
You make things look so easy!!! I love that you don't fuss over little things and talk us to death. I appreciate you. 🌺🌺
This looks DELICIOUS and so easy. What a great salad to bring to a gathering.
Love the appearance of Ziggy!!! ❤

Oooo, yum. I also want your smiley face spatula.
Finally! A suitable recipe for that box of orzo in the pantry!
Almost 2 million subscribers Julia!!!
This is perfect for hot summer days when cold food is just more appealing. I'll give this a try. Thanks!
What do I think? I think I want to make this. It's going to be up to 112 degrees here in Sacramento today so this recipe is welcome. I'll chill it before eating it. Can't wait.

At 112f, I wouldn't even want to boil water in my house. Hope this weather assault ends soonest.
Making this today!
I toast the orzo in butter before cooking for a nutty flavor. This can also be made with rice or a mixture of both.
Looks delicious
Brilliant idea ! Can't wait to try it!
Wonderful! Can’t wait to try!

As soon as I can get the ingredients I will definitely make this. Sharing!!!
Amazing
Yummmmm!!!
It seems like this salad would travel very well for a picnic and when heading out somewhere for the day. Going to give it a try today.
Beautiful sharing ❤
Sounds good. I'm on my way over.
Perfect summer salad! Question tho why not quickly run under cold water to cool the pasta? I do this with elbow & now I'm thinking it's not a good idea?
I’m going to make this tomorrow for sure!! Looks very refreshing.

Hi Vanessa 🌹 How are you doing...?
This is my kid of thing 😋
Sure looks delicious!😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
Made it. Used basil and added some ground up red pepper for a hint of extra spice. Delicious albeit a little time consuming. Next time I’ll double the batch (doesn’t make as much as you’d think and it keeps fairly well) and get someone to help chop veggies which will cut the time down a lot.
Its sooo hot and humid here in NJ. Im making this tomorrow! Thanks
Wao Looking Very Delicious Tasty Healthy and yummmmyyyy Pasta thanks for sharing this beautiful recipe Best of luck dear friend ❤❤❤
I love orzo salad and this looks delicious with that feta cheese twist.❤

Hi Suyapa 🌹 How are you doing...?
That orzo looks so delicious.
Yum! I'm not a huge fan of mint so I used cilantro. Delish!
Love Ziggy!!!

I love Scallions too! Can wait to make this but I will omit the mint. Thanks for sharing! Happy Cooking 😊😋
I made this for lunch today! I didn’t have any fresh herbs so I used za’atar 😋
That's dinner sorted 😋
May I ask why not cool the Orzo by rinsing it in cold water? -I always do so whenever cold cooked pasta is required.
Save those seeds!!
That looks delicious, think I'll make it but sub cilantro for the mint as I'm not a big fan of mint.
Love ATK. Can someone please explain to me what "asbestos hands" means ? Nigella Lawson uses the same phrase ❤

Asbestos is a toxic substance that used to be used as insulation (before we knew it was bad). It messes with the nerves and the way your brain responds to them. Saying one has asbestos hands refers to both the time period in which it was used and to the people that lived with it as part of life. The grannies of that time period could pick up very hot things (with limits) and move them about without potholders or waiting for them to cool. Heat proof is an excellent way to sum it up.

It means she is used to, and can tolerate, very hot things in her hands, as if she were wearing gloves of asbestos.
I would cook and cool the orzo before preparing the rest of the salad. For example, the cucumber, sitting in the salty bowl, would leak and possibly lose some structure while you wait for the pasta; adding the vegetables right at the end would better preserve the crunch and the freshness.
❤❤❤❤❤
Looks delish 😋 Can I use bow ties?
Ooh i like that jar she got the salt out of - ahe was able to salt the pot so easily!
Looking for very tasty and yummy and healthy and unique recipe 😋 😊 best wishes to you 😋 😊 God bless you ❤ 😋 you are my KZread family 👪 member 👌 ❤ all the best ❤ 😋 good night 😴 🥱 🌃 🌙 you are so beautiful and cute 😍
For veggies, are they going for crisp? Or does it make sense to "pickle" them in the lemon juice mixture?
Yummy 😊
😊
❤😊👍👍👍
I was just thinking about how to use up some cucumbers❤
I haven’t made orzo in a long time, but I love it. Looking forward to making this!
Is there a reason why she didn't rinse the orzo under cold water to cool it? Was it to maintain the starch on the orzo? Not criticizing; just interested in learning.
How long does the leftover salad last in the fridge?
@jrkorman

I've made similar many times. It'll last several days, probably longer than the time it takes to eat the leftovers!
I ❤ Ziggy
👀JULIA, you are so pretty🌹🔥...still, after all the decades have passed.
lmao Julia casually: "I have asbestos hands"
This looks great! But can I make it without a smiley-face spatula?
Can this be served cold?
@sandrah7512
11 ай бұрын
??? It IS served cold (or room temperature).🤦🏼♀ Julia spread the orzo out on a sheet pan to cool it (5:20) and then indicated once it was mixed with all the other (cold and/or room temp) ingredients you could let it sit for 30 minutes or stick it in the fridge for a couple of hours (7:05). The recipe itself says it can be refrigerated for up to two days.
I’m all about this! But I wondered why you didn’t zest the lemon into it. 🤔
@sandrah7512

This recipe was one of several variations of orzo salad developed by Julia's colleague, Ashley Moore for the February/March 2016 issue of Cook's Country where Ashley used the same amount of orzo and olive oil in each recipe, switching out equal amounts of balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar or lemon juice depending on the other add-ins in each recipe. It's possible adding the zest might make the finished product too lemony and some people don't like seeing the zest or enjoy eating it (not me). But if you think it needs lemon zest, add it. 🤷🏼♀
I swear the trash bowl looks like a water bowl for a dog. Brilliant!
What type of mint?

Lemon juice (citric acid) is used in this recipe instead of vinegar (acetic acid). This is just one of five variations of orzo salad developed by Julia's colleague Ashley Moore for the February/March 2016 issue of Cook's Country magazine where Ashley used the same amount of orzo and olive oil in each recipe, switching out equal amounts of balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar or lemon juice depending on the other add-ins in each recipe.
You showed us adding green onions but when your orzo cooled you had red onions in it 😂. Hmmm
@sandrah7512
Жыл бұрын
?? Yeah, it does have red onions in it. It was the first thing Julia chopped up and added to the vinaigrette (2:05).🤦🏼♀It's also in the name of the recipe (link provided) and in the video description (also where you find the recipe link).
That was about 3tabs lol
No onions for Ziggy!!!!
