How to Make Dragon Wings Tutorial - Realistic Dragon Wings
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hi guys and welcome to Faewood! Last year for the Mythical Markets I made a pair of fairy wings and so this year I decided to make a pair of dragon wings. I tried some new techniques and share with you how I made these and what I learned from making them so you can make a great pair of wings yourself! You could also use the same techniques for demon wings.

What is the wire you used called? -w-
Hi ! Thanks for that super video you made. I'm preparing a costume for a festival in France (I'm French ^^) and I was looking for a way to build fantastic dragon wings. I have just a few questions I hope you can answer : - how many layers of GLAD wrap did you put on each wing ? - do you have the reference of what latex you used ? I'm gonna buy some but don't know what to choose... - I'm not sure to understand : you put your fisrt latex layers with purple ink, but then later you spray it all in black. So why did you colour your latex in purple before ? Thank you in advance for answering my questions and hope I'll do as well as you did with these wings ! And as Jwb52z said, I like the effect of GLAD wrap, it looks like bat wings a little bit, really nice !

Oh cool well I hope it helps you with the wings 😊 I put two layers and folded up the excess into the shape I wanted. I started by dying the latex to see what happened but I think I mentioned in the video I didn't have enough ink. I got the latex from Ebay so you could look for it on there 😊
Hi! I’m doing these now and used Plaster of Paris for the filler but it’s breaking off!! What did you use as filler?? Please help! Thank you!!

I’m curious about that too
Is there an alternative to Latex?

I'm not sure of an alternative using this method, maybe pva could work? I haven't experimented with that though
Would paper mache work in replacement for filler?😁

Great idea 😊 I haven't tried that but it would be nice and light so worth a go 😊
Is the wire you wrap around the skeleton pieces about 16 gauge wire? I wonder if mod podge would work if you don't have PVA glue. I think the GLAD wrap makes the wings look more organic. These are really good. If you keep doing these costumes, you're going to need a new room or two for storage. :) Thanks for sharing! :)

The wire is in mm because it's a fence wire but I checked and looks like about 12 gauge for structure and 16 gauge for the wire I wrapped around. Mod podge would be fine in replacing pva 😊 I'm definitely gonna need more storage haha
