The foreign corn is quite smaller, neat while the local one looks small as well but sometime it's mixed with normal corn due to the packaging and the ways it's been stored

No you don't boil the maize. Just add it to your oil and allow it to pop first before you cover. Just dried corn

Not necessary just add the oil and corn then the sugar., Stir together till you see the first pop before you cover the pot

Always use low heat and shake you pot often when it starts popping

I tried doing it exactly like this and it got burnt

It's called pop corn. No much prep just check for they are stones or other kind of corn mixed with the corn then you pick them out, especially if you are using local corn. The foreign corn comes very neat
