How to Make Authentic Italian Biscotti by Heartway Farms | The Best Biscotti Recipe | Easy Dessert

Today Julianne will share our recipe for biscotti! These Italian pecan biscuits may seem difficult to make, but this recipe makes it so simple! Enjoy them with tea or coffee on a cool day. They are the best!!!
Full Recipe:
Preheat Your Oven to 350 deg. Fahrenheit
Candied nuts:
2 cups chopped pecans
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup butter
Biscotti dough:
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
4 Tablespoons orange zest
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 cups all purpose flour (plus more for dusting)

    Biscotti’s are the best. I make mine with white chocolate and cranberries. They also last for awhile in an air tight container. A great cookie for Christmas.

    Gotta make this recipe. I've made biscotti many times. What I would do is split two half dough portions on two cookie sheets, flatten out narrower, so the cookies are shorter. Thankyou, and THUMBS UP!!!

    I use Almonds in mine,have never used pecans..will have to try that way sometime, its definitely NOT what my Italian grandmother did...thanks for recipe...love the addition to orange, but not what my family would expect in Biscotti and I'm Irish more than Italian, lol

    Just an honest question. What do you do with Biscotti? I was given some by a friend once that acted like it was the best thing ever. I found it to be so hard and dry, I could barely swallow it. Was it stale???

    My favorite is hazelnut biscotti. But hazelnuts are too expensive! I use walnuts instead & add hazelnut oil to the recipe. If I candied them, as in this recipe, I'd use the hazelnut oil in that mixture too. Not quite as wonderful as toasted hazelnuts, but very good.

    Biscotti Cookies with Carmelized Pecans Full Recipe Written below; See Preheat Your Oven to 350 deg. Fahrenheit Candied nuts: 2 cups chopped pecans 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 cup butter Biscotti dough: 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup melted butter 4 Tablespoons orange zest 4 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 4 cups all purpose flour (plus more for dusting) Preheat oven to 350 degrees To make candied pecans, combine in skillet 1 C granulated sugar, 1/2 C milted butter and 2C chopped pecans. Turn nuts occasionally with stove on low till nuts are carmelized and sugar turns light brown color. Pour onto parchment lined baking sheet, and flatten to cool. To make dough, 2 C sugar, 1/2 C melted butter, 4T orange zest to large mixing bowl with paddle attachment. Beat till creamed. Add 4 eggs, and 1 teaspon vanilla. Scrape down bowl. Add 2 teaspoons baking powder plus 1/2 tea. salt. Add 4 C all purpose flour to mixing bowl, and mix thoroughly combined and scrape bowl. Clean up paddle attachment, and chop up cooled pecans and add to bowl and mix again till just combined. Divide in dough in half, place both half quantities of dough on 2 cookie sheets lined with parchment paper and pat with hands. This is where I recognize the cookies are way to long, and should be half sized. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes rotating half way in time. Let cool 10-15 minutes. Cut on diagonal on cutting board. Transfer back to sheet pans and bake 8 minutes, remove from oven, flip cookies and bake another 8 minutes to dry out the moisture. Cool in pan, remove and cool completely on wire racks. .

    Ok, italian born and bred here... First, biscotti means just "cookies" in italian, it is a generic therm not a kind of cookie. Second, in italy we do not have pecans. Third, i have never seen nothing similar to this recipe in italy, not even close... it seems a weird mix between cantucci and torrone, maybe. 🤔

    Hi Tizio. Thank you for your input. Here is the definition of biscotti here is the US. Biscotti: a small, crisp rectangular twice-baked cookies containing nuts, made originally in Italy. Biscotti (/bɪˈskɒti/; Italian pronunciation: [biˈskɔtti]; English: biscuits), known also as cantucci ([kanˈtuttʃi]), are Italian almond biscuits that originated in the Tuscan city of Prato. They are twice-baked, oblong-shaped, dry, crunchy,[1] and may be dipped in a drink, traditionally Vin Santo. They can definitely also be known as cantucci so you are absolutely correct about that! You can use any kind of nut that you prefer in this recipe. Almonds are originally associated with biscotti but we prefer pecans! And I was reading that pecans are grown in southern Italy which is wonderful because they are SO delicious! Enjoy and have a blessed day!

    @@HeartwayFarms so this is an american recipe inspired by cantucci, not the original, authentic italian one. 😉 I suggestivo you to try the real cantucci recipe, it is very different.
