Bummed I’m 3 years late for the lift kit giveaway. Lol I have a olive green 04 forester that is in desperate need of a lift and bigger tires. One day it’s going to happen. Great video. Also appreciate the mechanic honesty. Only thing missing is the throwing of tools 😂

Any tips for getting the lower bolts for the front strut back in after you put the spacer on? Can't seem to get mine to line up right

Making boring stuff informative and funny! For having lifted my 2004 forester, I would suggest: at least swap your stock springs for some heavy duty springs (they are usually slightly longer 1/2 inch) especially if the plan is to go for some long and serious off road...Also you should stick to touring shock absorbers as it is a well balance combination. Later find some off set rims if you want to have bigger ratio tyres or it will surely rub bad...

Any thoughts on strut spacer lifts vs. spring lifts on a Forester? I'm used to old jeeps (solid axles) instead of independent suspensions and I'm feeling way out of my depth here.

The biggest question I have is about damaging the CV axles. Putting a lift on the forester without lengthening the axle will strain the joints wouldn’t it?

Lifting any independent suspension vehicle causes additional wear on CV joints whether it’s a Forester or an F150. It’s a compromise you have to make to gain ground clearance under the car. Installing larger tires also causes additional stress on the axles and drivetrain.

Any issues with the CV joints/boots being torn after the height difference?

Yes, with old and cracked boots they will tear easier after the lift. The additional axle angle is a compromise for the additional ground clearance you gain. Best practice is to be sure your axles are in good condition.

Has he answered anyone on where he got that kit from? And if he has.where did he get the kit from?

What tire size did you go with?

I didn't have a problem taking my wheels off to lower mine lol

It was a two and a half inch in the front and 3in in the rear and I got it from OZsubielift

The inner cv joint can fall apart inside . If this happens you have to remove the axle , remove the inner boot, hopefully the bearings didn't fall apart spilling needles all-over. Use a tie-down to limit how much the axle can move out.

6.5 hours to do the job

About 4:20 man
