​@BKVP Yes, anything can be stolen like the TV in your house or the phone/wallet in your pocket. The difference between the Google doorbell and the 2 scenario's is the difficulty of stealing. While a TV is in a house, theres a doorknob with a unique key to prevent someone from entering a home to take it. The wallet/phone is in your pocket and you'll put up a fight unless someone comes up to you with lethal weapon. The google doorbell uses a simple flat tool which is a pressure release mechanism. Anyone can get their hands on that tool or use a similar flat object. A key locking mechanism should have been implemented for better security measures.

We're sorry for missing the mark in our previous message. To be clear, Nest Doorbell (battery) comes with a release tool, the hex key is for Nest Cam with floodlight.

Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. kzread.infoUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa

I've been using this, and other Google Nest products for almost a year now, they have worked really well. The doorbell has been fantastic as it is rechargeable and never has to have its batteries removed requiring a reset, unlike the Yale Lock which we also have tied into our Google "Smart Home" set-up.

Hi, how often do you have to recharge the door cam?

Keeping the key "in a safe place" is a nice touch. Any flat-head does the trick. I'd need a new doorbell every week. Sorry, I'm happy with 3 (inside) cams, 3 minis, 1 hub, and half a dozen smart-sockets, but this I won't be investing it until you come up with something my 5-year-old can't nick within 5 seconds.

The Google home app keeps saying "invalid argument" when trying to accept the T&C's to set it up. Reading the t&c makes no difference. What should I do? The camera is useless if I can't set it up.

You have to remember to push down to get the click. That locks it in.

What has improved from the previous wired models? Also do Google do a wired version of this new doorbell?

This is very tempting as I don't have the option of hardwiring it but I do have a question and it's quite possibly a stupid question, but is each QR Code unique to each door bell so that it is tied to the users/google home account. As it can be removed from the plate with just a flat head, is there protection from someone possibly robbing it i.e if someone did rob it can it be set up on another person's account without any questions asked as a new device or does it need to be untied from the original users home/account before it can be used again.

If youre using the anchors, its 1/4" for the angle mount, 3/32 for the metal plate.

Could you please confirm that if I wish to have this device powered, do I need to supply power to the USB C port or do I need to supply power to the two terminals. Also if power is supplied via the two terminals is it shorted out when the button is pressed?

Hey David, thanks for your interest. When a visitor presses your Nest Doorbell (battery), you can hear an audible alert if you have compatible smart speakers or displays, like Nest Audio or Nest Hub. If you choose the optional hard-wired installation, it will work with your existing doorbell chime.

If your doorbell is using a wireless connection, you'll not be able to use an indoor chime. Alternatively, you can use a Google Home speaker’s visitor announcement feature to receive spoken announcements when someone rings your doorbell. Depends on usage, if it only sees people and records around 5 times per day, you can expect around 4-5 months. It takes 5 ours to charge from empty to full

@Made by Google Installed mine on the weekend and had a hard time getting it mounted. Since then I was alerted that it has been unmounted twice and sure enough, it was. I don't know how to keep it mounted. It stays on for a day or so, then unmounts and disconnect.

This thing has worked faultlessly for six months or so. This morning I got a notification and it became disconnected. I have reset it but the app cannot find the unit. Followed these instructions to the letter without any luck so many times. Any ideas?

I am so frustrated. Mine keeps going offline and I can’t find anywhere in the home app to be able to reconnect it. Had to factory reset it, delete it from my devices and then to get it to connect again, but then it only lasted less than a day before it went offline again.

They can get ANY type of doorbell or outdoor cam if they wanted it bad enough lol...not a reason not to get one.

Question: Are there notifications when the battery is low? I don't plan on regularly checking up on it, I would prefer to just be notified when it's time to charge it. 😊 Also, as a potential customer, this is *extremely* helpful to see ahead of time (for those of us researching what it would take to get up and running). Three hours seems to be very less. We can’t view something that happened when we are asleep during the night after we wake up in the morning. Probably at least 12 hours will help. Does it allow us to see the events at least? How many events can be seen and how far back?

@@madebygoogle I cancelled my order since it doesn't have a replaceable battery. Taking it off to charge isn't ideal.

Why is the Home app not capturing the QR code on the doorbell?

Can the Nest Doorbell (battery) actually switch/ring the doorbell? There is nothing in this video to indicate this.

Hi Hoyt, thanks for posting. If you choose the optional wired installation for your Nest Doorbell (battery) by connecting it to your existing doorbell wires (8 to 24 V, 10 VA transformer), your existing wired doorbell chime can ring when someone presses the doorbell button.

I installed my Nest Doorbell Battery straight to the power. When accessing the APP informs with the "symbol of infinity" and a socket. I understand that you identified that it is directly connected to the energy, but after a week of use, a recharge is requested. What can it be?

I have a new battery doorbell but can’t connect it to the Home. When I plug it in there is no blue flashing light on the doorbell it’s just a solid white light and no connection

I have the nest hello and I use the honeywell chime with system does the newer version also come with the two chime adapters and Is this compatible with Alexa echo system and if so what are the compatible features, thanks

Hey there, thanks for your interest. A chime is not included. But when a visitor presses your Nest Doorbell (battery), you can hear an audible alert if you have compatible smart speakers or displays, like Nest Audio or Nest Hub. If you choose the optional hard-wired installation, it will work with your existing doorbell chime. Also, our cameras work with the Google Assistant currently.

how di I get a new baseplate I lost mine

It is difficult to get in the right position. Sometimes, it is hard to do it. I love the camera. I love all the functions, but that mechanical part is a nightmare.

I can no longer mount the doorbell. The doorbell no longer clicks at the top but did for roughly over a year. Contacted Google support and they said it was out of warranty and they could do nothing. Of course it does not work unless mounted.

Im charging MY new Doorbell now. Its doing fine. When i first plugged it in a white light came on then it turned blue. Does that mean its already charged? Im going to try a put it on my front door way. Wish me luck. Just wanted to know how to know when its charged.?😊

Why isn't there a no drill mount version? Every other similar product has this and it's frustrating you don't and assume my door is made of wood...
