How To Install Your Nest Doorbell With Existing Chime Wires

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The battery-powered #NestDoorbell lets you see what’s happening at your door and answer it from anywhere.* And with intelligent alerts, you’ll only get notified about what matters most to you.
How to set up your Nest Doorbell:
1. Start the setup in the Google Home app by adding your Nest Doorbell and scanning the QR code on the back of the device.
2. Connect your device to your home Wi-Fi and bring outside. The Nest Doorbell will light up green when it connects. You’ll want to make sure you have a strong connection where you’re installing the device.
3. For safety, turn off the power to your old doorbell and chime via your home electricity breaker box.
4. Remove the old doorbell and secure the Nest Doorbell base plate on the wall with the screws provided.
5. Feed the wires through the base plate and use the provided wire connectors to connect the wires together.
6. Push wires back into the wall and clip Nest Doorbell into the base plate. You will hear a click when it’s secure.
7. Turn the power back on. Once on, your Nest Doorbell should start recording live video.
8. Finish your Nest Doorbell setup by following along with the Google Home app.
*Some features, including mobile notifications, remote control, video streaming, and video recording, require working internet and Wi-Fi.
September Description Update: Nest Doorbell (battery) requires the Google Home app and a Google Account - it’s not compatible with the Nest app or the home.nest.com site.

Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. kzread.infoUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. An existing doorbell should already have a transformer wired to it and the chime. Don't necessarily have to get a new one. Not sure where the white wires came from but the existing wires should work, as long as the existing transformer is within specifications for the Nest Doorbell. Check the garage, laundry room, or even inside the chime cover for the existing transformer. Replacing a transformer means handling AC voltage wires so if in any doubt, I suggest having a professional installation.

If I wire the doorbell with my existing chime, will the doorbell still use the battery? OR, will the doorbell charge from the wires? If so, how is the connection done at the chime? • @ethanjuengerman565

It will charge from the existing doorbell chime wiring. Once it's installed you can check the battery settings and it'll show "Plugged in" with an infinite symbol over the battery. Both this battery model and the previous non-battery model will hook up the same, using the standard low voltage wiring. I just swapped my previous wired doorbell out with this one the other day, using existing chime wiring. Hope that helps.

Finally got this to work but the “instructions” provided and process is terrible and must be oriented to someone who will only pay an installer to deal with the frustrations. You need two different screwdriver sizes if the wedge is used (and probably should be the default). There are no printed instructions so one has to jump back and forth between these either somnambulant videos or peer at them microscopically on a phone. The setup options want you to commit to all sorts of upsells and connections before even determining if the device is working properly or not. The wiring and screws is tiny and fiddly and not a good fit for many older houses. The whole thing should be an embarrassment to Google. Just packaging this crap in an over-engineered box does not make for an Apple like experience (also, the charging cable was left out of our box). Think twice before buying this for a self-installation.
