How To Set-Up and Install Your Nest Cam

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The new #NestCam (battery) is a smart, weather-resistant camera that keeps an eye on things both inside and outside your home and alerts you to what matters most.
Learn how to install the Nest Cam (battery):
1. Charge your Nest Cam using the cable provided. Plug it into the power adapter on the camera and into an outlet. The light on the camera will blink white while charging and turn fully white once it’s charged.
2. Add your Nest Cam to the Google Home App and scan the QR Code on the device.
3. Connect your Nest Cam to your home Wi-Fi and bring it where you want to install it. You’ll want to make sure you have a strong connection where you’re installing the device.
4. If you’re mounting your device to a wall, install the wall plate with a drill and the screws provided. The device should be about 6-6.5 feet above the ground to get the best view.
5. Twist the magnetic plate clockwise over the wall plate to secure it.
6. Attach the camera to the magnetic mount. Align the camera so that the status light is at the top and the speaker is on the bottom.
7. For wired installations, plug the weatherproof cable* into the outlet, then to the camera. Make sure you leave a little slack in the cable so that you can attach it to the camera when it’s connected.
8. Once everything is secure, enjoy your extra set of eyes.
*Sold separately.
September Description Update: Nest Cam (battery) requires the Google Home app and a Google Account - it’s not compatible with the Nest app or the home.nest.com site.

Also I think this Google person is referring to your home network not internet. I would have a second router with dual band or quad band and and WiFi connect to it rather than a modem directly. Then you have more freedom of devices to view from and adding a recording device.

The abilities this system provides as far as viewing and monitoring is awesome however, this system is limited by hardware "install", "maintenance" and hardwired capabilities using magnets and easily detachable wire connection at the camera. My personal opinions of course. For increased security of the system (outdoors) I would most definitely route the wires through the walls starting directly from the camera. Should the camera take a few seconds to begin it's functionality, I would need to fabricate and mount a steel cage about the camera, to give the camera more time to function before being hit with a bat or some other form of vandalism. Indoors however is what I see as the prime benefit for this product. With several cameras one could capture many images.

If someone takes something I have maybe a 3 hr window to save the clip. For the amount we pay for these cameras there should be an automatic video storage free of charge (on your phone). Or at least a setting to automatically save the video clips to our phone. Had I known ahead of time about this I wouldn't have invested in them and looked elsewhere that offered it.

One massive omission seems to be in the Google app that you're now unable to set up a simple on/off daily schedule for the camera.. in the Nest app this was really simple, how on earth was this not included.. Google tech support seem to have no idea what's going on regards this. So at present the only option is to manually turn a camera on or off.. or just leave them on all the time.

Hi there. The new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app, but you can view both your old and new Nest Cams together in the Home app.

I’ll be returning my cam and new nest doorbell as you can’t seem to open these up on the existing nest app. Google really know how to buy out such a good company like nest and make it terrible.

Hey Marten, thanks for posting. We appreciate your interest. The battery life of the Nest Cam (battery) will depend on how busy your street is. On a busy street with 20 - 25 recorded events per day, it'll last for about 1.5 months before it'll need to be recharged. Check out this helpful link for more details: goo.gle/3BRlxVd

Got it. The inclusion of a single cable is intentional. Your cameras shouldn't usually need to be charged at the same time due to differences in usage, such as event frequency or scene the camera is observing, sensitivity and event duration settings, etc. Let us know if you have other questions.
