How To Increase Terpenes & THC

We The Growers sits with Chris from @Ghostbudstersfarm and Chris Durand, Director of Research & Development at Athena. In this clip, Chris Durand details the primary drivers for Terpenes and THC, and how you can increase the percentage of both.

    The key to unlocking thr full potential is to use biostimulants to trigger SAR responses without stressing the plant at all. I've been using a mix of Chitosan, Salicylic acid and amino acids as a foliar. It makes a very noticeable difference after a week of application. I'm supprised Athena doesn't have a biostimulant product like this! It would save me mixing my own.

    Hps maybe for something of scale , but my 1st proper led (quantum lm301b) made my setup go to next level. I used to do 3x400w then 2x600w , now I've got 3x300w quantum boards . I don't have to worry about fresh bulbs or how to effectively get my room under 100f , my quality went way up and my yields up avg 40%.

    So sick of people saying "good" genetics. When they need the right genetics for the environment. Especially when most breeders selling "good" genetics give very little info on the plant. Different cultivars for different environments. To expect one cultivar to grow in all climates isn't gonna work. So find genetics for your environment. And of course most only talk of indoor. Flushing kills the brix levels. Fruit and berries loose taste when getting a lot of rain around harvest kills the brix levels.

    If you grow and allow some to seed every year the plants will adapt to the environment but it takes time. Genetics are a great start but environment changes the genes.

    You should do checkerboard set up with it , you can then use the room to veg with MH only and switch to a mix hps/MH for flower giving it a awesome full spectrum with the low blue and far red combo, I worked for a few big cultivations in Nevada and they started implementing this all over the industry 2-3 years ago

    What is "stacking"? Thanks!

  • @WeTheGrowers

    @WeTheGrowers

    3 ай бұрын

    Stacking nutrients in the substrate is achieved through using high frequency irrigation events to build up the optimal level of nutrients for the plant in the stage of growth that you're in. With a raw powder like the Pro Line, the EC needs to be built up specific ranges throughout the plants life. Establishing a good irrigation strategy using moisture content sensors to hit perfect dry backs would be ideal.

    As a Nectar grower, I understand that different inputs raise different terpenes. Fish bone meal increases VSCs, hog bone meal increases "herbal" terps, cow bone meal increases all terps in a well-rounded fashion, and feather meal increases fruity terps. Guano can increase a specific terpene, "guanine" I think it's called. It helps to get familiar with a genetic and experiment with different inputs.
