I've used the Migro UVA/B fluro tube for the last 3-4 runs ..... definitely improves both flavours and potency ...just 2hrs at 'mid-day' only in the last 2/3 weeks of flower.

Some important notes for UV bulbs and fixtures. First, the Fluorescent UV bulbs are better than the LED bulbs. The LED UV is all UV-A, which is not as efficacious as the Tubes that contain more UV-B. Second, if you buy a Fluorescent fixture to use for UV, make sure it is brushed or raw aluminum with no lens or cover over the bulb. Shiny reflective fixtures have a coating to make it shiny which does not actually reflect UV light meaning you are wasting half of the light's output while glass or plastic lenses will block the UV. Third, it is important NOT to run the UV bulbs FULL-time or for long periods of time, run them in a pulsed state for 15 to 30 minutes every few hours during the last few weeks of flower. Finally, nothing is free. The increase of trichomes and terpenes takes energy that is not spent increasing the size of your flower. This means using UV light is a trade off between yield and potency/flavor. A little goes a long way and it is easy to go over-board, so start slow with maybe 15 minutes every 2 hours or 30 minutes every 3 hours during last few weeks of flower. I personally have a 4' Agro-Max "Pure UV" which is 75% UVB and 25% UV-A in a brushed aluminum housing I bought from Amazon for about $75 total. Shane at Migro offers his brushed aluminum UVB310 fixture which is similar to the Agro-Max in spectrum at 75% UVB / 25% UVA making it a quality option on a budget for folks looking to try out UV light. The more expensive Solacure FlowerPower bulbs use a different glass with an internal reflector allowing them to bring a lower spectrum of 100% UVB which is better at stimulating the stress response we want. I haven't used the Solacure bulbs yet, but that is what I will buy for my second tent.

LED UV is whatever the manufacturer decides they want it to be. They could have a complete UVB LED light. The reason you don't see this is because of the costs of the UVB diode currently. This will change drastically over the next few years as LED UVB becomes more common.

Just have to be very careful with the UVB fluorescent tubes, it is a learning curve and easy to burn up foliage, but it takes two to three days to see the damage typically. The uva LEDs are totally safe to run pretty much nonstop

When using UvA lights, you will need to slowly incorporate them into the lighting cycle to avoid "sunburning" your foliage and stunting plant growth. There is a slow learning curve to it as you can usually only observe 1 or 2 different scenarios per grow cycle. Here is what I have found works best, but can more than likely still be adjusted to push to min/max turp and flower bulk. Starting on Day 1 of Week 3 of flowering phase slowly incorporate the UvA lights into your 12 hour cycle, starting in the middle (hour 6) of the 12 hour flower cycle: Day1-2: 30 min Day 3: 1 hour Day 4-5: 2 hours Day 6: 2.5 hours Day 7-8: 3 hours Day 9: 3.5 hours Day 10-11: 4 hours Day 12-13: 6 hours Day 14 to maturity 7-10 hrs per 12 hr cycle. I've found dialing back (7-8) during last week of the flower intensifies trich cloudiness to almost a cotton whiteness leaving no clear to marble the white.

The UvA spectrum causes tighter more compact flower growth. This not only bulks up weight per flower from Bract, Ovary, and Ovule swelling through "extreme sexual frustration" caused by the bract/ovule formation being so tight, but also contribute to thicker and taller Terpene production as a defensive mechanism through refraction to displace the otherwise potentially harmful light wave spectrum.

@@bananas7479 sync it in with your already 12 on/12 off cycle, you do not want to add any light outside of the 12hr on window, and its best to work from the "center out" as far as timing interval introduction, you don't want to start with Uv as soon as the lights come on, even after the 14th day where you can use up to 10, its still best to wait about 15-30min after lights on and dim out about 15-45min before light out. Its almost as if they: "want to wake up and feel good about the day before they step outside and realize they need sunscreen" instead of: "get woken up by a bright burning light and never woke up happy" if that makes any sense

UV not only helps with increased productivity as far as terpene and cannabinoid percentage. It also helps prevent mold and mildew. It can also kill insects that are vulnerable to UV light. I remember people were getting higher percentages using MH since it has a lot of blue in the spectrum output and the supplemental plasma lights, which contains more of a blue spectrum as well. Although they will soon be obsolete, florescent lights have way more UV than most, if not all, the expensive LED competitors. Happy growing and happy holidays ✌🏾💚

@@ScottyReal420 no sir, thanks to the DGC I buffer or condition my soil first. It drove me crazy my first two grows. The first water on to dry soil, I got to watch the water sit on top of the dirt then over to the sides & dribble down the outside of my fabric pots. The burn I experienced was during its first half of veg. I'm not sure about salt build up. But when I water & feed the girls. I like to see a small drop in the leaves, so when I water/feed them a couple hours & I see praying leaves, tells me they're taking up nutrients. If the stay droopy longer than I like to see when feeding. I'll back the nutrients off & that seems to take care of it. What I have been doing with grow dots after the harvest I keep the soil & I'll collect it in black husky contractor bags from depot. I'll add some amendments and a couple pks of grow dots & mix & mix & mix. It's been fine the past few grows. I haven't used it as a top dressing yet. DGC🔥

Not sure if it has any UV light in it. You mentioned HP lights and I miss the days of the metal halide's and HP lights. So I have experimented with the 4-ft tube light, some of which cover both UVA and UVB spectrums, you only want to start at 15 min cycles, twice a day and if you do not see evidence of burning in a couple of days you can increase to 30 minutes all the way up to an hour, twice daily. Be very cautious with these I have burned up plants when I left it on all day. Now the 30 watt uv led stick up lights, like the AC Infinity, I found is totally safe to run at 12 hours increased to 16 hours over a couple days. Absolutely have seen excellent results with greater than 10% extra terpene production, and no PM, running last 3 to 4 weeks of flower! Unfortunately even the manufacturers are not making any recommendations other than safe at 12 hrs, from AC Infinity.

Maximum Yield said UVA is responsible for one chemical reaction, where UVB is responsible for several interactions...?! Watched Shane, of Migro, test and find the best flourescent UVB/UVA. Great episodes! One company with a similar T5, says they have a "built in reflector" within the lamp. Shane tested this against the Agro-Max 75% UVB/25% UVA, with no reflector inside (so most of the light wasn't hitting The Apogee sensor, but shining upwards, away from the sensor. Each fixture measured at approximately the same amount of PAR at the canopy sensor..?! Yet the one had a built-in reflector, and should have had 3X the PAR..,?! Shane concluded the "reflector" within the one lamp was there, but not reflecting..?! He moved the sensor above the T5's, and the built-in reflector model didn't put out light above the reflector, so they're reflector didn't really reflect. Shane put the sensor above the Agro Max T5(no built-in reflector) and got steady PAR readings all around the lamp. When adding an actual Aluminum reflector(not Mylar sticker on plastic reflectors), which is how most single T5's are sold. Aluminum foil will work! Eventually, I purchased a 4ft Agro Max, single T5 fixture, and paid extra for an actual Aluminum reflector. Had to do some DIY, but was able to get the 4ft T5 fixture, for almost exactly the same price as the Migro 2ft model price tag. Shane said 1- 2ft UVB lamp was good for covering a 2.5'x5' area, so I figured a 4ft, Agro Max UVB lamp would be perfect for the 5x5. Should be trying it out in 4-5 weeks..?! Forgive my rambling, please. Those great episodes, experimenting with UV, and what's best, are still available!👍💯✌️

I've been learning about UV light for a while . I first started about 8 years ago . I currently use 14% uvb fluorescent bulbs by Arcadia . They are for desert reptiles . I've always read UVA isn't much use and UVC is harmful so it's UVB that you want to use . Also Shawn from migro sells a excellent 70% UVB light , he has a video up on youtube and I recommend everyone watches it . He explains why UVB LEDs are not very efficient and why you should use a fluorescent UVB supplement light .

I've just started using a full spectrum quantum led board with UV and IR added in a small amount. My LA Confidential and The Bling smell amazing, and to be honest, have been pretty much out of the gate. We now know IR causes photosynthesis, but if UV is doing something, the science peeps haven't found anything yet...even though there is a visible difference in a few key areas VS. not using UV. Super interesting!

If you don't believe it go buy some THC distillate. Then buy some full spectrum edibles or any HTE(High terpene extract) then compare them. The distillate is 99-100% THC, but the smoke isn't as potent as the high terpene extract with less THC.
