This is late, but once the lines stop updating in the command prompt, open L4D2 and then type in console "openserverbrowser". Hit LAN and it should show up.

@@TheeGreenguy No problem man. Be sure to port forward as well. I forgot to mention that you should launch L4D2 before you turn on the server, as Steam will count the server launching thing as a game for some reason.

it's probably your sv_lan is set to 1 or you haven't port forwarded your router

@@spongysponge1823 Gmod is more difficult as you have to link it to css or smth otherwise it won't work

When I login anonymously it keeps asking for a password

@@papak2490 You're not listening. I know you said you deleted your server, but that's not what I'm talking about. You expressed the need for help with the Admin System/Menu mod. You keep referring to the server, but I'm not talking about the server. I'm talking about the mod. Do you still need help in using the add-on, or not? If it's "no", fine. I'm just trying to confirm your response and come to an understanding that this discussion is not about the server, but the mod.

@@FrostyDLR Unfortunately not. I could be wrong but I think it's a pretty annoying process to get a L4D2 server started so I gave up.

Engine error could not load library matchmaking, i guess rng Jesus didn't want me (UPDATE: did this AGAIN, could not load open server.bat MY SUFFERING WILL NEVER END)

@@Traxixxxx also i forgot to mention, close your steam and left 4 dead 2 before running your server, because if you have left 4 dead 2 open while you run your server it will not work and also when steam is open and you run your server steam will think your running left 4 dead 2 and then you won't be able to run left 4 dead 2, so it's best to exit out of steam and left 4 dead 2 and then run your server and then you can open steam again and run left 4 dead 2.

@@Traxixxxx not only that the steam group server won't show up in the steam group list if you don't have lan games discoverable on in your multiplayer settings

@@dqrkfoxx it almost the same way with steam cmd just a little different. I knew how to port foward already I just wanted to know how to start a server and it was easy I have my left4dead2 server running 24/7 I get a full lobby in the afternoon on left4dead2

if you want Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) on, go to the .bat file you made and replace "-insecure" with "-secure"
