Even if you bind it to a valid key, as soon as you close the window, you can never reopen it again unless you reboot the game.

if you have the game on english, make sure you have the keyword in english

You need to go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\cfg\config.cfg open config.cfg with the notepad and add this command: bind "F10" toggleconsole (you can replace F10 for another key). Then you need to go to the properties of config.cfg with the right click and check the box of "Read Only", then apply, close, and run the game!

Finally i got it ! Very Good Video !

just go to the game's shortcut on your computer , right click , go to properties , then in "target" box (above "start in") reach the end and press space then type "-console"

YAY FINALLY! :D This did the trick for me: 1. First I did what's explained in the video. (added -novid -console to Steam>L4D2>Properties>Set Launch Options) 2. Then I changed my keyboard language settings to English. 3. And then I also changed the games language settings (Stream>L4D2>Properties>Language Tab) to English aswell. Then finally i typed in: bind "F1" toggleconsole and it's working. - - - Note - - -: Make sure to hover with your mouse over one of the menu options when pressing the bound key, otherwise it won't open. Good luck!

I got a problem with that : when I change the key in config.cfg, it did nothing at first, but when I do any action in the game, it rewrites itself and rebind the deafult key

steam folder (C: program files steam userdata "choose YOUR steam code/number etc pp" 550 (every game has it's own number and l4d2's is 550) remote cfg et voila, there is your config

This fkn shit always gets back to the fkn default key that does not exist in non-eng keyboards no matter how much I bind and edit it in the Config.cfg, when I restart the damn game it gets back to the default key, GODDAMN VALVE!!!!!!!!!
