How to Grade WALKING LIBERTY Halves - Coin Grading Basics
Ойын-сауық
How does one assess the grade of Walking Liberty Half Dollars? In this video, Nick Rundlett of TTcoins shows you how!
Coins in AG Condition show virtually no detail. They have no discernible rim, and usually only a partial date.
Coins in G condition have some remnants of the rim showing. The coin's features are extremely faint but at least visible. All 4 digits in the date are visible.
Coins in VG condition have FULL dates and rims. The eagle on the reverse begins to show some wing detail.
Coins in F (Fine) condition show some emerging detail on lady liberty's breast plate. The eagle's reverse shows greater detail on the feathers. Lady liberty's dress shows some lines of detail near her ankle.
Coins in VF condition show strong details on both the front and back. Lady liberty has some detail showing now on the RIGHT side of her breast plate. The half dollar's reverse shows almost full wing detail on both wings.
Walking Liberty Half Dollars in EF / XF condition show virtually full original details on both sides. The Eagle's feathers are rich and full, and wear is only present on the eagle's breast. Lady liberty's breast plate has virtually full detail, but a patch of wear is visible.
Coins in AU condition will be nearly perfect. They will show some luster, and have wear only on the highest points of the eagle's breast and lady liberty's breast plate.
Uncirculated Walking Liberty Halves will show no traces of wear, have bright luster, and look gorgeous!

I liked this video great job explaining the difference.
Excellent video! One the most accurate and informative that I have watched in the coin community, on You-tube! Very, very relatable as well; looking forward to seeing one for all the coins, that we collect...??

Would it be common to have die strike errors on the rim of the coin?
I have a half dollar coin of USA 1942 so please tell me selling price and procedure
I have a 1880 O micro O Morgan Silver Dollar. With just eyes there are 4 tiny dashes above her eye. When you put under Micro Scope its weird and then when you rotate the coin it changes and then you can make out i think its an eagle with spread wings, but when rotated more maybe letters or numbers. i'm going to try and get photos. Do you know of anything like this?? Read more

Your uncirculated coin has rim damage. I think unc details grade.

I noticed that, too, but I'm not sure it would be enough damage to not get a straight grade. But what do I know 😂?
