I collect WLBs from 1933 - 1947. The only "key date" is 1938 D BUT there are several CONDITIONAL rarities. That is what is fun about the WLBs - it is rich enough for several collecting strategies. So 1933 to 1936 WLBs from the San Fran mint in nice Uncirculated grade will cost you $1,000 on up. There is one from the 1940's with the date overstrike that is worth quite a bit of money. So one doesn't have to get all years to obtain a strong attractive collection. Also realize some years the strikes from some mints was VERY weak making uncirculated coins look like they had wear from use - instead it was from worn out over polished dies. Note you can get the 1917 from coin shops that have been around for awhile -- try those that are second or third generation owners with an excellent reputation.

I think that is the ONLY way you can find one (well outside from a garage sale where the people have NO idea what they are selling) at a bargain.

This video read my mind. I just went to my LCS and picked up a 1917-S Obverse (G/VG) and 1938-D (F/VF) for $70.

I don't have any key dates Walkers but I just bought a 1916-D in AU condition. I think this might be a semi-key date, not sure, but it was affordable. I also have a 1939 and 1943, both in AU condition as well. Most key date coins are just too expensive and don't look that great in affordable conditions.

Good to know. I have a quick question. Went to a local pawn shop , they have this 1884 Carson City Morgan in the plastic case ( doesn't say uncirculated. Just says Silver Dollar) they are asking $240. What should I offer him? I was thinking $200.

I have a 1921 no mint walking liberty. Idk how much it's worth though. It does look better than the one you showed though. 🤷🏻♀️ I also have a 1929 -S, 1949 no mint mark and a 1936 D. Trying to find the value of all if them.
