I do traditional Muay Thai and have been looking into doing extra greco-roman training to help with my clinching. It's amazing how similar the techniques and footwork in greco-roman are to clinching techniques in Muay Thai. The crunch here demonstrated can also be used to set up knee strikes

I've thought that wrestling, specifically Greco-Roman Wrestling is the most important martial art since Randy Couture. What he did to Tito, Chuck, Tim, and Gabriel is wild. I do not think it's a coincidence at all that Jon Jones is almost universally considered the goat. Cause he's got the greco roman.

You just need to learn how to block or parry a punch or a kick, then go for the grabs. Against weapons is the same thing except firearms, that would require to learn how to disarm, but that could be as simple as taking it away from their hands, sometimes! That's why boxing lessons go so well with wrestling, is almost the same stance. What makes the difference between combat sports and self-defence martial arts as I call it is. That in self-defence you don't wait for the other individual to make an attack. You go russian style gopnik and deliver a devastating first attack. It's all a matter of finding the first opportunity to do so... Now go train and get as big and strong as you possibly can.

@@agrainofsalt4889 . Let me add this, you can create your own self-defense methods by studying how criminals attack and by studying how to come up with possible defenses. Ofcourse you need a base or various bases from which to start. The rest is about physical fitness and conditioning. It's really all about violence and how to use it, hopefully for good but it's a dangerous path to follow. That's why when learning about violence it's good to see films where realistic violence is portrayed. From Australia I particularly like that series Mr. In-between. Not so much for techniques, but for the mentality. ... "Warning".... be careful with violence, once you start there's no going back!

It's super easy. I do this all the time. Make sure you got the first grip right. under hook side thumbs down close the grip with your others hand finger press the opponents head on you it has to hurt him a little. That's it. Just a step in turn around. Important is the grip.

My main discipline is boxing but I've done just about everything else to some extent. Tae Kwon do, hapkido, youth wrestling, judo, Gracie and other jits. Dan Henderson was my favorite fighter as long as he fought. Even when he fought Fedor I wanted Hendo to win. I understood he was an Olympian and elite Greco-Roman artist. I watch wrestling videos, sumo, judo amd Greco. I have limited experience training it or sumo for that matter but I watch Greco-Roman quite a bit. When I see wrestling I'm mostly looking at positions where I can break a man's jaw with my fist or maybe slam him on his head. So my view is much more limited in that I'm really looking to knock someone cold but I will use these means to obtain it. At first I didn't like the video or the style and theatrics. I'm only looking for destruction. In the end I subscribed and respect the knowledge of the art. I recognize that the knowledge is legit and the schemes of its system are impressive. Excellent technique and instruction. This knowledge can save your life.
