I would recommend the following (must wear eye protection): 1. Get the temperature of the engine hot, I mean really hot. The black death (carbon) softens up and is easier to remove. 2. Loosen very slightly the hold down (maybe 1/8 turn) very small amount 3. Start the engine to get it hot again. 4. cover the area with clear plastic bag or just a cloth 5. Keeping the area covered, spray carb cleaner down around the hole. It will spray up into the bag or cloth. The carb cleaner loosens the carbon that is like glue. 6. Repeat the spraying a couple more times with area covered. 7. loosen up the screw a little more. The amount of leakage will increase as the engine is pushing up on the injector. 8. Turn off the engine. Remove the injector line and hold down as mentioned in the video. 9. I recommend a fork (pull hammer) to pull the injector up and twist clockwise on the injector with a spanner (as a starting twist). I prefer not to lever against the aluminium cover, it would crack much too easily for any inexperienced DIYer. 10. I took out my glow plugs and blew compressed air that way to get debris out. Turning over the engine is risky and you could end up spray diesel everywhere since you have the injector disconnected from the rail. 11. Since the black death had gone so far, you really need to clean injector seats thoroughly both on injector and on the head, that is the main reason why you are leaking again. Using some 600 and 800 sand paper on a stick to clean the head side and then punch hole through sand paper to clean the injector side will clean up the injector nicely. 12. Never re-use the bolts, they are stretch bolts. Your combination of lack of cleaning (or at least no mention of it in the video) and re-using the bolts is the highest contributor to the failures you are seeing. 13. Teflon grease the side of the injector so that next time they need to be pulled, they are nice and smooth to pull out. Watch other KZread videos on how all this is done.

Wow, good, specific information. I'll probably never need to work on a Mercedes, but I do have two old tractors with injectors, and all mechanical info is valuable to me!

Hi there I have done 4 out of the 5 of my 270 Cdi and 2 of them have gone again like you have had! I was wondering if you reamed the injector seat? As I was thinking that the reaming must have to be perfectly flat to create a good seal! I have found that when reaming the seat that sometimes the reamer chatters as it rotates causing a convoluted type seat! There's a specialist in the north east that dose all the dealership cars that come in for Mercedes n BMW. He never used the silicone when he did a couple of mine on my old 320 Cdi. But as this has gone again I'm tempted to use the HTV silicone as then it's less chance of it going again! How much did you use? Was it just enough to cover both sides of the copper washer? Or did you put on a fair bit to make it smudge out a bit?

ok people if you have this issue dont remove them this way, get on ebay and get an injector puller, its basically a claw on a slide happer that is made to fit the injector. Its not expensive either, get the right tool and save money and aggrivaton.

I had a Vito with leaking injector but it had eaten the head around injector seating copper washer, you could clearly see damage with a mirror and torch so would definitely use some form of sealing compound, I gave up and sold it for spares, this was before utube 2004

The copper washer was stuck in the bottom of the tube on mine so total disaster. Someone must have put the wrong washer into it and now it's stuck at the bottom of the tube. I've put an additional washer and some silicone into it to try and hopefully seal it. But since the injector has been out now and all the crud cleared off it'll be easy to get it out again if it's still leaking. I used high pressure compressed air to aid cleaning the holes. No worries with the screw hole getting filled with anything if you have compressed air to hand. Unless it's leaking I'll finish my comments there. Hopefully I won't be adding anything else tomorrow when I test it. No way I'm trying it until the silicone has cured!

It held for about a minute. So took it out again, really easy. Cleaned off the silicone. Looked into the tube and prodded a bit with the same screwdriver I used yesterday and the copper washer that had been stuck in the hole came loose. I had to hook it out with a bit of welding wire. When that washer came out there was clear signs that it had become offset and soot marks showing how it had been leaking. The centre hole on the washer was elongated. So with that shitty washer out of the way I put in a new washer and I took the bodging a bit further by smearing a tiny bit of rapid setting chemical metal around the new washer. Put it back and ran it for a few minutes and it is solved for the moment. Will go for a longer drive later.

Despite cleaning and reseating an injector port on an ML w163 2001 model its refusing to seal and I still get an ever so slight vapour leak. I will try a thicker was Honda cdti and see if that works otherwise I'll end up using the silicone if all else fails.

Honestly, the only ones that haven’t leaked again are the ones I’ve coated the washer with high temp silicone. Not sure if hitting it makes a difference
