For people who have a LB or RB that clicks, but only works if you press it way too hard: *Saw this here in the comments, didnt believe it, but still tried* Open the 2 pannels on the back. After you've done this, hold the trigger so it will make some space to your bumber. Now blow very hard in that hole. Believe it or not, it worked for me. Must've been too much dust/dirt there... Reply with a confirm if it worked for you too, so people can see.

Exactly what happened to me

As someone else has already said, if you have a bumper and you have to click really hard to use it, here is the easier solution. 1. Don't even take apart your controller, just take your battery pack cover off. 2. There should be two rectangular holes near the left and right bumper. If your controller was the same as mine and not completely broken, then just blow into it and it should work. (Mine was just dirty I guess)

+Jacob Mikeska Wow - interesting. You didn't even take the outer shelf off? Sounds like the clips on the bumper that latch on to the frame of the controller have broken, or the pieces of plastic that jut out from the frame of the controller have been filed down/broke off. Depending on what it is, you will need to take a different approach. Try taking a look at my How To Open an Xbox One Controller video (kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4WCurSJnbCseKw.html) and see if you can diagnose which problem it is. That will give you a better idea if you just need to buy new buttons, or an entirely new controller.

I just had the same problem and opend the controller like you said. I then recognized that the earlier models of the Xbox One controllers have different bumper buttons. They are part of the middleconsole which covers the home button. I hope glue is enough to fix it because i cannot install a new bumper, they look completely different.

As much as I think the 360 controller was way better, if the One controller would actually last more than 5 months, I'd just deal with it. The really should go back to the drawing board and make a product that's actually worth the money you pay for it as I agree with you, the tiny bits of plastic the bumpers rest on are so weak it's a joke. Controller that retails for £40 that you have to resort to using super glue to fix it...... That in itself is a joke.

Yeah I've put up with the controller myself because it took me so long to give in and get myself a new one. I'm sure they are very aware of this terrible product they're ripping us off for. And yeah I've disassembled these controllers the material to hold up these bumpers and triggers etc. Looks and feel like something that just won't last you that long if you spent a decent amount of time gaming like I do. And yeah the idea of having to use super glue doesn't sit right with me at all. These things should have much better durability for the prices they right at.

@@crunchb3rry it's been 11 months aha It broke, the thing snapped off of the other bumper. You couldn't here it rattling around, as it's still held in, but doesn't press properly. I bought some nice blue bumpers, look great with my halo controller

These controllers are complete crap. My controller, my friend Andrews controller along with his brothers controller LB button broke. When Andrew got the elite and his LB eventually broke in about the same time the one did with the original controller. I don't want to pay $60 or even $150 for the elite if it's just going to break. For the price their asking these controllers should not easily break, especially the elite controllers. They test these products durability before the sell it to consumers, and know they are overpricing a product not worth its price. Sadly we are forced to purchase and re-purchase hardware that is meant to take abuse. Not to mention Microsoft is the only option we have to purchase our controllers. since other company's do not pride themselves on quality. But tend to cater the casual/younger audience.

However, making cheap easily breakable shit is a practice that so many companies capitalize on because it saves money for production and since the controllers are prone to breakages, the demand for more controllers stays. So long as a company has the power and recognition of microsoft, they can get away with doing shit like that. That's just capitalism, it all equates to more money and expansion, which, as a business, is their priority. Shouldn't expect anything less from these types of companies. They test the durability of the controllers in a lab as well btw, they are very aware of how easily their product can break.

Shit i fix and if not then rig my bumpers into working order all the time all the bumper designs act like a pivot the L shape is on an angle find The lil mini button that the lil plastic L shape tht reaches down from the bumper itself. Should be like half inch short. I literally found a piece of soft plastic frm a toy and shaped out a new button that crudely resembled the 1st one but ironically lasted 3 times longer.

i have a problem with right bumper...it works sometimes but lately i need to press harder...i took it apart to check if tip was broken but it was fine...i feel the click is working fine...is it the actual button that might have gone bad?how do i remove and replace?thank you for ur help

Saw in comments, it actually worked for me and the 72 others that replied, you have to much dust build up so press down the RT to make room, but your mouth on it and blow very hard. My bumpers are now completely fixed.

I'm a little late but take of the panel on the back and hold down the trigger and lift the bumper and blow really hard into the hole. It worked for me. Its probably because there is too much dirt or dust in there. Tell me if it works.

Right? It's ridiculous these things break so easily, but it makes sense because they're plastic. Luckily, the triggers are pretty easy to get to so you could always open it up and take a look to see if it's just food or something sticky, or if it's really broken and needs replaced.

My RB isn't responding anymore but I still hear a clear clicking noise like before, it also happened from one moment to another, is it broken or just a weird bug or something from windows 10 itself idk?

Marcelo Aguirre Well no, I took a air duster, it's basically compressed air and if you pull it's trigger there gets a shit load of air out of it at a rapid speed to blow everyting clean, about 5 bucks a can, just held its tip close to the trigger and blew for about 10 seconds, after that the problem was gone, just some filth that I blew away

same exact bumber too i feel like this is a design flaw as mine still works but it cant be pushed from the side you have to push it straight down which isnt ideal while in the middle of a fire fight when you rely on a grenade (or whatever that button is maped to) to save you and it doesnt work. my butto hangs just like yours when its upside down/ partialy tilted and from what i can see, the piece of plastic that holds the button down to prevent this has snapped so it cant be repaired that easily but it can if you just get a replacement bumper and follow a guide on how to open up an ELITE controller

Conner Souza Same here. The margin on these elite controllers is probably insane- it is a ripoff. Just as cheaply made as the original xbone controller (which has way worse durability than the 360 controller even) yet it costs half the price of the console itself. RIP. OFF.

Hey mate, thank you for the video, also it is really helpfull that you wrote step by step instructions in the description, i have a question, wouldnt be cheaper and, or, possible to buy replacement rb bumper, from ebay, etc (i see are available) and just replace? Thank you.

For me, the lever tip didn't break off, the entire piece just didn't have a snug fit. The opposite bumper's lever tip is flush against the button. What I had to do was cut out some small strips of electrical tape to pad the tip (I just cut them to the entire lever arm's shape, long and thin). Three layers was enough for the gap I had, to also retain the click.

I used a flat screwdriver and I hold the trigger R button and I pushed it back up. That is how I fixed it. Mine was the same problem but it was the RB button.

My right bumper came off, so I jammed it back into place. It’s a little loose but it works

Hey! I'm a chick, and know nothing about disassembling or resembling a controller, let alone repairing and replacing parts and pieces... but thank you so much!! Because of your video and the other 2 videos along with it, I was able to do all of the above and repair my controller myself and learned a lot along the way! Worked perfectly! The only thing is I didn't have super glue which I totally thought I did but I improvised and used nail polish to repair my plastic pieces along the way. It was easy to apply and has worked great since! Thanks again!

Thanks. The LB buttons are much different now in regards to shape. Way smaller, flimsier and gluing it is less likely to hold. Won't hold long is my theory. We'll see. Likely Microsuck saw your video and redesigned the next batch to suck even harder. #PlannedObsolescence They make it so flimsy on purposes. I hate them. There many other examples of planned obsolescence that I noticed when I took mine apart.

my controller fell off the table, and the LB Button wouldn't work, I thought i was going to have to buy a new one but i watched this video and realised the LB is on a little axle. So I ran my finger across the top and it felt like it was slightly pushed in above where that axle would be. I grabbed it and wiggled it and pulled at it and the button snapped back into place and is working perfectly again.

Great vid. Both of my son’s controls RB buttons broke within the same week. Model # 1697 (newer) Model # 1537 (older) I cannot tell which controller needs the single piece for both bummers or the bumpers that come separate. Please enlighten me.

*Important* If your bumpers are clicking louder than normal and sometimes doesn’t register as being pressed blow really hard into it. X Box Black Box (2001) - One controller out of 4 broke in its 4 year life. XBox 360 (2005) - 2 controllers broke out of 6 in its 8 year active life and still use it occasionally. X Box One (2013) - 7 controllers have broke in its 5yr life...so far. (6 Left bumpers and 1 joystick) Based on this video I need to see if I can fix some of those now.

Do you have advice or a video on what to do for when the usb like port on the bottom of the controller is broken? I have TurtleBeach XO Ones and im not getting any sound. Tested the headphones on other devices and they work fine but once i plug them back into the adapter piece, that came with it, into the controller i get nothing. It appears to be loose on the inside of the controller.

I bought this controller for windows 1 weak ago and I'm start to think it was a bad decision. When I press the bumpers with a very light pressure, I hear the click but the button doesn't work (If I click normal it works, but I'm afraid it will get worse). Does this work on the 1708 model?

The 3.5mm jack controller has the bumpers connected to a bridge under the home button cover. If I hadn't been super careful, I might have broken both bumpers.

Good to know. I think I need to snag a new controller and check that out. Assuming people have more of these now than the older ones. Which model was it specifically?

Xbox DIY It's called Xbox One controller with 3.5 mm headset jack. It's $60 on Amazon and less if bought pre-owned from Gamestop.

I have the new model controller and the left bumper will fall out if I don't keep my finger on it, will I need to get it repaired, by a new one or fix it myself because I've never tried something like this before

My problem isn’t this it’s that sharp part at the end of the rb button is snapped if I super glue that part back on do you think it’ll work ? Please respond

Microsoft needs to seriously get rid of this problem if they ever make another next gen console

What I did to unstuck mine was put a nail under the button and pry it up

My RB broke too but it was the plastic piece on its right outer side, I can now literally lift the button halfway out of it's place and see inside the controller but it luckily still works pretty well when it's in place for whatever reason, it's actually kind of more responsive than the unbroken LB so fuck it, I guess it is what it is but honestly it seems to me like the 360 controllers were better made. They were like old Motorola's, indestructible lol.

Hey I have a question, my bumper isn't broken or anything but it's not as responsive as it used to be. So my question is: is it possible to change the actual button on the circuit board?
