Xbox One controller bumper button fix| LB/RB switches not registering?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey everyone. Today, I've brought to you a unique type of a video. I normally don't do videos regarding repairing items but since I really enjoy playing FIFA using my xbox one controller, I decided to make this video. Sometimes, you may feel that your bumper buttons do not register in the game. These buttons are the rb/lb buttons on your xbox gamepad. Blowing the cavity formed when a button is pressed did not solve my problem most likely because no dust was present. You may want to try out my way of fixing this problem if your switch functions properly but the buttons yet don't register. Hence, today I have a video for you on how to fix the LB/RB buttons not registering.
I would like to let you know that I have tried this method before and it worked for me so I am very confident that if you end up having the similar problem as me, you should be able to solve this problem! just remember that this fix works only for the situation where your LB/RB buttons require hard press to register.
Do not spend cash on another controller, just fix it!

    @@bonk4225 No they're not it's a grab for money 😭😭 they literally designed their own screws that don't have common screwdrivers so you can't DIY fix your controller. you deadass have to order a special screwdriver from Microsoft at extra cost if you even want a chance at fixing broken controllers. And my controllers go bad every 2-3 months. Different things every time. Controller drift is something most people live with, buttons stick/break/stop working, headphone jack just straight up breaks, etc. I have like 4 different unusable (for gaming) controllers because I can't fix them DIY. I have to say I was skeptical as to whether this fix would work. I had the necessary tools from when I fixed a stick drift issue and so decided to give it a go on the RB button which wasn’t registering lighter taps, where LB would work with the same force. In my case, the plastic that contacts the button didn’t appear worn at all. I used a small piece of adhesive address label just to decrease the gap between plastic and button slightly and it has worked perfectly as a fix so far. The button still even has that satisfying click feel when pressed. Thanks for sharing this solution!

    @@BobRoss-wm3lc it did work for quite a while but I don’t use that controller anymore. It developed an issue with stick drift and I discarded it entirely. A few times I had to open it up again and reapply some sticky label or whatever for the RB button issue. To be honest, it’s only ever going to be a temporary solution.

    I've got this issue right now and I've performed some pretty serious surgeries on my controllers in the past, so I'm not shy about opening the housing, but I should say that this problem can properly be fixed with electrical contact cleaner. The switch is only registering intermittently, and most often with deep presses, it's because there's dirt in the switch interrupting the connection. Get compressed electrical contact cleaner, or standard isopropyl alcohol should work in a pinch, and spray directly into the switch. Rapidly press the switch repeatedly for a minute or so. Allow to dry. No mod necessary.

  • @Durrutitv

    @Durrutitv

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@TafaraMolife I believe it's mostly isopropyl alcohol, or at least smells indistinguishable from it, but it comes in a pressurized can that can spray it into hard to reach places, like into the thumbstick switch mechanism found inside controllers. And this should work in practically every instance of joystick drift as long as no physical damage had been done to the switch mechanism, patient care of your controllers and you're getting drift then this will almost always take care of it. You can try like dripping isopropyl alcohol into the mechanism you might have to do it repeatedly a few times actually get it in there and working and allow it more time to dry. If you go that route you'll want to use the highest purity you can find, the lower the purity the more water there will be in the water will linger much longer than the alcohol inside the switch which could cause electrical shorts which could damage the circuit board

    This is a possible solution to the problem however the issue (in this video) is actually a dirty switch. You prove it by showing that one of the switched only seem to work with deep pressing it even without the plastic part. If you spray some contact cleaner (or Isopropyl Alcohol) to the top of that switch and press it a bunch of times (to help it get inside the switch) then the issue could be fixed without the tape. I have just fixed mine yesterday :) Thanks for the video, it helped alot on how to diagnose the problem!
