How to Fish a Ned Rig

With the offshore season reaching its end, the wintertime provides an excellent opportunity for anglers to explore some of San Diego’s best inshore fishing. Today, we’re on the water with Nate Winicki who’s going to show us one of his most productive rigs for fishing the relatively shallow parts of San Diego’s local Bays: The Ned Rig.
Originally designed for largemouth fishing, this technique has exploded into the inshore saltwater scene in the last few years, and for good reason. Follow along to learn how to fish the ned rig and try out this killer technique next time you’re on the bay.

Why do so many people fish it like a shaky head I mean yea they catch fish like that but I honestly do better with a slow drag across the bottom of just a slow lift of the rod tip then hold the rod tip up and let it kinda drag towards you

it really depends on how the fish are feeling tbh man. I have had days recently where doing the slow drag on the bottom gets smoked and produces a fish on nearly every cast and i have had days where they for some reason will not hit a moving bait like a jerk or crank but will hit a ned that is being swam in towards the bottom middle water column, particularly if the bank i am crashing is getting hit by waves. It is bizarre but if it works, can't really call it stupid. I don't question it, ned rig fished both ways has gotten my friend and i an 80 fish and an over 100 fish day this past month, and that is fishing it both fast and slow. Tight lines, don't be afraid to experiment
