    Way back in the 90s we would use our scrap stick baits on a mushroom head in the dead of winter and catch so many bass on that method

    If you buy the Z Man Big TRD you can also trim the length as Randy says, but you still get the floating action. I’ve caught plenty of 4-5 pounders on them,

    I love the advise about using stick worm for ned bait, I been doing it even since i discover ned rigs highly effective for all type of fish, from bass to trout and even crappies!

    Thank you for this and ALL the other great info you provide us fellow anglers! I like the Z-Man NedlockZ EWG jigheads and also prefer using plastic baits that float for my Ned, Neko, shakeyhead, Dropshot, Tokyo and C-rigs.

    Great tips randy!! The baby bass or watermelon pearl laminate is one of my favorite colors i use that in place of green pumpkin most of the time

    The shortened ned rig reminds me of the Johnson’s beetle spin me and my buddies used when we were teens in the 80’s. It was a great Smallmouth bass bait. Will have to try the combo again this summer.

    The nikko halgramite is my favorite, best is a 5.99 largie on a bass pro tungsten ewg weedless ned ball head. It floats,and is pretty indestructible. I generally lose the setup after 15 fish,and sawing thru the line from.bass teeth. Goota retie once in a while.

    You can throw almost anything out in prespawn/spawn/post and it will work . But nobody does a dog day middle of summer video because……..a lot these fantastic lures will find it difficult to find/ catch fish .

    I know of a lot of anglers who turn their noses up at the thought of using a Ned rig, but I can honestly say I've caught more bass on one than almost all my other lures combined.

    I've been using pieces of worms on a jig head my whole life. Never knew there was a name for it.

    When you cut down the ned to a mini ned (2") the elastic plastic thats float is not needed. The head of the hook make it stand anyway. And that elastic its so difficult to work with. I use my whacky worms for ned. the cheapest will do fine.

    i have never catch a small mouth and always wanted to. the lake am going to is clear and only 233 acre two man boat lake, the state only allows ten boats daily. i will catch trhem like the wacky worm setup.

    Hi Randy, I think you said you use 6lb test line for your bed rig setup. Is it 6lb test braid with a flouro leader? I have a med fast action spinning rod with a 2500 spinning reel. Your thoughts Thanks Scott from Indiana

    Most of the places I fish in Florida just has to much grass to fish a ned rig. The rivers are the only place with sand bottom and they are full of hangs. I usually only use a ned rig in salt water for redfish.

    @@Upgraydez it's definitely worth it to make a trip. Most places have a lot of vegetation, but it's usually loaded with fish. It's a fair trade. 😂

    You can still use just live bait I do all the time and always catch fish it's easier to use live bait than artificial and I fish mostly live bait but I have tons of artificial

    Buuuuut those don't float and just fall over. Actual ned rig baits float so it stands up after is falls. So using a normal senko style isn't as useful.

    Sometimes they like the NON floating rigs over the floating -depends on the day. According to the inventor (NED) its still a Ned rig if it doesn’t float

    The Ned rig is nothing but a simple jig that was invented by who was possibly the cheapest man ever that used broken pieces of worms. If you've ever seen a picture of this guy he's wearing super old clothes and using a reel from the 1970s he was a cheap bastard

    I’m balls to the walls for sure if you use a Ned rig in your next tournament, you’ll have a better chance to finish higher than most of those spot-lighters buddy. Did you experiment with a Ned rig in your last tournament at all? Just a piece of bone advice for you. 🫲🏼
