Only beef with the serrated knife is sharpening. I burn through filet knives faster than the average guy because I keep them laser sharp - sometimes after a single cut. Knives are cheap, fingers and hands and staples and stitches, not so much. Mangled meat on the fish or yourself = tears.

I've never used slugs, I've always have used small , medium and large spouses for any kind of bass and I kill it! Their also great for small tuna,(10-20#). And they are stinking great for log barracuda!

I was at Clemente on Saturday on my own boat with my son and dog of course. Caught 5 yellows during the day 10-15lbs. I can confirm around 100 boats at Pyramid. We anchored in the shallow side of the squid beds. Got up at 3:30 and threw out a live squid on a knocker rig. 1 min later hooked up and landed 30lb yellow, then right after ny son hooked into a bus, fought it for over 30min, landed 100+lb black seabass. Released. There are a lot of black seabass there. We hooked another and couldn’t stop it

Thanks for commenting on my forward facing question. I completely agree with your answer, but it does work pretty awesome for looking under the kelp patties. Its pretty amazing to see the way the fish act to your lures or baits as well. It's just an extra tool for me. I'm 57 now, so i had plenty of years with nothing but a compass and a chart lol!

Can we get a location for some of those bluefin bites? 60 mile, mushroom, east butterfly, or Cortez? As a private boater, it really helps to know whether they’re 40 miles out or 100 miles.
