Choosing moves and styles that work for your athletic build is so important. I love pull up midrange/floater shots but I'm short, so I learned the hard way that I can't just do a kd hesi pull up every shot

i think u can still do those things, you just have to figure out tactics to make it work. u might not be able to rise up over ppl like KD, but you can learn things like creating more space, developing a faster shot, or shooting from further out to counteract that

i usually watch attention to detail to see how i could guard people but i sometimes pick something up to add to my game. attention to detail mostly helps me as a defense minded player to know all situations and act accordingly to try and force the lowest percentage shot. putting my offensive game together has been way hard for me , so seeing different ways i could grow really helps. basically thank you

I took the Lebron Route kinda, I worked on all facets of the game that I could so that when I’m on the court no matter where I am & who I play with I’m useful & I find it fun as well but most of all I seem to be picked first in just about every pick up game because I don’t play with ego & I’m not necessarily ball dominant but can be when it calls for it ,I seem to end up scoring more points than everyone at times but I think that comes with experience too but everyone is different. I looked at myself as a student of the game & never regretted it.

My playstyle changed from my freshman- halfway junior year into my senior year. I was always taller than most players on my team but I played guard on 2nd team the first 3 years. We got a new coach and suddenly Im playing center. Keep in mind that I never really got much actual gametime when playing guard so I could never really show anything. It was hard for me to become an inside player when all I knew was playing outside. I realized I am most likely a pass-first teammate but can get a bucket if needed.

Amazing video!! I can't find one player I'm exactly like. Trae young and CP3 are close. Small players who're quick but aren't that strong / don't jump crazy high. I'm at my best attacking of the dribble, and using a lot of step back mid range shots / floaters rather than taking it all the way. While I can make the right pass, I don't have the basketball IQ of CP3, nor can I hit logo shots like Trae. So I also learn from others.. streetballers like the professor for playing through pressure defense, Steph Curry for playing off ball, and Marcus smart for defense. And any other move that I like pretty much.

Start emulating some of Kyle Lowry and Chris Paul's playing styles instead, unless you hit a growth spurt soon. Booker is a volume scoring shooting guard who is 5 to 6 inches taller than you. For now you should focus on defense and being a floor general. If you do hit a growth spurt, great, you'll still have solid fundamentals training as a true point guard. If you don't get a growth spurt then you'll be stuck as an undersized shooting guard

I noticed something i'm pretty good at is backing down a defender, doing a handoff, then immediately curl to the wing for a 3 for some effing reason. I also noticed i need to take atleast one one dribble to be more effective shooting anything beyond 20ft. If I have a speed advantage to my defender I just attack right and drive for a lay up, fingeroll or floater. If they are laterally a lot quicker then I attack left since they are positioned defensively to stop my dominant side, and go for a mid range pull up, floater, or one legged banker. Also am decent at going baseline and beating a defender for a reverse. I tend to struggle to make plays for others after taking 5 or more dribbles(internal panic), and passes out of double teams that happen in the corner. I do a pretty good job finding people who are in the motion for an effective cut or curl. Usually not the primary ball handler in 5 on 5s, but I set good screens, roll effectively and can either pull up from mid range or find someone who is open in the corner as the defense collapses.

I’m 5’6” with a decent handle, great passing vision/IQ, great midrange game, above average, but streaky 3PT shooter, and a great off-ball/team defender, and usually a great on-ball defender against most players. My play style is corner/wing 3s off the catch, dribble pull ups, fades, turn around jumpers, bank shots, drive & kicks, setting up the offense through Pick & Roll, iso midrange, off-ball center cuts, constant boxouts, hands always active on and off the ball, post defense, being an off-ball pest, and especially attacking out of the Triple Threat etc. Still tons of room to grow, like I’d love to be a confident finisher- The players I’ve always studied: - Chris Paul - Jrue Holiday - Jimmy Butler - Joel Embiid - Steph Curry - Luka Doncic - Marcus Smart - TJ McConnell - Andre Miller - Kyrie Irving - Kobe Bryant - Nikola Vucevic - PJ Tucker - Carmelo Anthony

I got the trae young build but I play like Russel Westbrook because he’s the first guy I watched in the nba and got me into basketball so I go to the rim alot even though I’m small in size but I barely get blocked

Tbh I still don't know who I am as a hooper. I shoot a lot of mid ranges because because I'm short and skinny, 3s weren't my type of thing but I'm trying to start shooting 3s, I'm decent at defense but I still get beat a lot, and my mentality isn't very good, obviously I want to change all these things but due to my habits, it feels really hard

A lot of times the era of basketball that you play in can go against your specific skillset. I notice a lot of guys my age chucking up threes and relying on speed and athleticism. Personally I'm not that fast and athletic, but I thrive off of difficult midrange shots and being shifty/unpredictable. Very typical of 2000s ball, even though I grew up in the 2010s generation.

i am very defensive, always go for the steal, will do anything to get the ball and lock the attacker. I can be really fast in seconds and sprint a lot, i have good stamina, i have power for my height and weight (5’7 149lb) and i can do solid passes and get teammates open. now in the offensive side, i feel like i got good takes and speed but my finish is bad, ball always bounces from the board and sometimes i just shoot it with no accuracy when being guarded in front of my eyes, my shooting is not so bad but i can only shoot comfortably and id say it has the odds of flipping a coin. something that i do have is the will to do what it takes and to take advice, please if you read this give me your opinion and advice. i been playing ball for like 1 year tho

This is great, but there are probably skills that you need regardless of play style today. For example, if you can't catch and shoot (or jump hook for post players) or make free throws at an effective rate, you probably can't play. On defense, there's probably a certain amount of athleticism and strength needed to play as well.

as a casual hooper who wants to improve while just like playing pickup I feel like it's hard to find a player with a similar frame bc I'm 6'2 and scrawny but most the people I've played with at like park pickup runs aren't elite hooper heights so at times I'm the tallest guy on the court at 6'2 so I feel like I'd be wasting it to lean full guard but if I play like a forward and start playing bigger hoopers then I'm gonna be way undersized. should I view NBA heights/frames in a vacuum or do I take it in context and look for someone comparable to where I stand among normal people frame wise

I'm kinda good at catch and shoot, but to be able to perform well I kinda rely on my teammates, as simple as if they didn't give an opportunity to shoot my shot then I unable to perform well, and I wanna change my playstyle which mean I wanna standing on my own.

I am a 6’2 quick guard with a shifty type handle but im not really that fast… ive always struggled with my speed but I’ve always played like im fast. What player should i start watching or whos game should i adopt? Im really comfortable with shooting threes but im better in the mid range, im just not used to shooting them in game. I am a decent finisher but im not as athletic as i could be. If anyone knows a player i can start watching or adopt his game.

Hey By Any Means and others, I am relatively fresh to basketball maybe like a year and a half but have played consistently during that time and improved a lot however i'm still lost on my playstyle. I'm around 184cm with long arms and a neat 34inch vert along with slightly above average speed, acceleration and strength. I can shoot a few middys and probably my best scoring ability, good driving over contact with hop-steps and Euros however sometimes will get stripped, I cant make a 3-ball to save my life and have very good defence all around. Does anyone have any guidance or tips to reply or any things I should work on in gym or on the court or for any film to study and add to my bag (keep in mind i'm 15 male so I dont have all hours of the day and ect lol)

watch guys like kd and tatum keep it simple with crossovers, between, behind the back. perfecting these moves with long arms is immaculate. change pace a lot and make sure to keep working on your jumpshot the vert and arms will help you shoot over people and u can be a fr bucket

Just today in a 4on4, I balled out went downhill on anyone and got any shot I wanted, but when we did 5on5, it went all gone and I was scared to drive.

I wouldn’t say I really have a play style because a lot of my game is unpolished. I’m not really good offensively but I love to play defense. I’m 5’9 a bit overweight because of injury. Never really been athletic as far as strength but I’ve always had a lot of stamina because of a history in long distance track. If there’s anyone I think I’d watch as far as play style I think Kyle Lowry would be a big key

I’m a driving guy. I love bullying my way into the paint and drawing a foul or getting a bucket. I can also shoot the 3 and pull up jumpers. My coach makes plays where I can’t do any of that and I don’t know whether I should just follow the plays or I should use what I’m good at. We aren’t allowed to dribble or drive ourselves unless we’re wide open
