$64 for 1.7 oz...pricey. Try the Paula's Choice Skin Repair Moisturizer. I've used it for at least 25 years. $35 for 2 oz. About half the price per ounce! I layer Vanicream cream moisturizer or Aquaphor over it at night for more moisture. FYI, I don't work for Paula's Choice, don't get paid to recommend their products, and don't receive free products to review.

Hiho. Pregnant lady here. I've been using a good combination with hyaluronic acid on damp skin, a neutral cream (BHA) from The Ordinary and a drop of pure 'figue de barbarie' oil (sorry, French speaker here, I can't remember its English name) which is truly amazing. For your belly too, if the skin gets a bit too scratchy/dry. Cucumber oil too (pure) Could this dryness maybe come from the product you're using to clean your face ? Advice : sulfates are very bad for our delicate skins. Hang on, pregnancy brings so much problems on the skin but 'figue de barbarie' is definitely my go-to. I wish you a wonderful journey through this third pregnancy 🎉

@@surpriseitsus9622 I'm not surprised if it smells floral because it has 4 fragrant ingredients: Parfum/Fragrance*, Citral, Limonene, Linalool. And it's pricey: $52 for 1.7 oz. And the first 4 ingredients, which are most of the product, are Aqua/Water/Eau, Propanediol, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, and Glycerin. Nothing special for the price you're paying. Try something from the Paula's Choice line: cheaper and fragrance free. FYI, I don't work for Paula's Choice, don't get paid to recommend their products, and don't receive free products to review.

@@zaa6257 Firstly I would suggest to consult your dermatologist: I've always thought that my skin was oily but when my dermatologist visited me she said I had sensitive and dehydrated skin that overcompensated with sebum production. You can tell your skin is dehydrated (not dry) because it feels tight and itchy with an oily layer on top (especially after a hot shower). The fact that when I started layering less products but more hydrating ones my skin exponentially improved. Hope this helps!

I take warm showers definitely not too hot, and it's always done it. I also tend to try go for gel/very light moisturisers for the same reason, a lot of it sits on top and just never actually sinks in, if that makes sense. if you have any insight I would love to know! this video was super helpful at explaining everything and I think especially helpful for people transitioning and learning more about their skins needs.

I have extremely dry, sensitive skin with rosacea. So my first concern with skin care is no ingredients I know to be irritants such as fragrance, alcohol (except fatty alcohols). or witch hazel. That being the case, products such as the Authentic Barrier Cream Balm are no gos! The SECOND ingredient, after water, is Citrus Junos Fruit Water which is a fragrance. So the product is mostly water and fragrance! How do brands have the GALL to market products like this? TURN AND LEARN!

I would say I have combination skin type, oily T-zone for sure but normal cheeks so not oily or dry. However I have more than one skin condition because I got to be greedy lol, I have acne prone that gets dehydrated easily, which causes sensitive skin, and I can get dermatitis easily too 😅 it's annoying because if my skin gets trans epidermal water loss and dermatitis I have to use medium to thick creams until healed but because my acne is more clogged pores with some white heads, pustules I have to be careful my thick based creams don't further clog my pores. I also find if my barrier is broken I get big painful spots. Night time is my barrier repair thick creams with slugging unless I'm using my tretinoin and day time is my light moisturiser with suncream or just spf alone usually in hot summer.

I have relatively combination skin, but I do deal with perioral dermatitis, and I've noticed that not all moisturizers feel great on the irritated areas. Any suggestions for a good one? I do like the Natural Moisturizing Factors w/Phytoceramides from the Ordinary, but where it's getting warmer and more humid out in Maine, I've noticed it can feel kind of heavy or sticky whereas during the winter, it is phenomenal!

Acne prone fella in my 30s with dry flaky skin. I'm most prone to breaking out where I grow facial hair. I only trim my hair because it's blonde, so I don't have to shave and risk ingrown hair follicles. Are there skin care ingredients or moisturizer qualities that I can help me moisturize the skin beneath my facial hair (prevent dry skin) without holding oil in my beard?

Hey, Cassandra! I think it's too late to comment, but I'm just starting to learn the basics of the skin care routine. Do you have any recommendations on which cream to use to complete night facial care? Now I use The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA, but in my country there is a 300% markup on it. I have heard that there is an inexpensive analogue of Cerave, but which is better to choose: gel or cream? I will be glad for your help!

I would love to see recommended skincare other than medications for severe seborrheic dermatitis/"fungal acne"-prone skin. Finding a moisturizer has been the most difficult step in my skin routine. Heavy, repairing moisturizers trap the oil or overheat the skin, so the fungus grows more UNDER the cream, which is never absorbed. Also, most moisturizers in general contain some form of oil to help restore the lipid barrier and lock in the moisture, and the fungus feeds on this oil as well. (I turn red in a matter of minutes). Gel-based moisturizers are the best texture, things that are almost like "water gel creams," because they absorb into the skin better. However, many of them are loaded with ingredients to pull the moisture INTO the skin. While this has a beautiful hydrating effect on most people, the water gets pulled too MUCH into my skin, and guess what grows in overly moist skin? lol I have only successful incorporated toners into my routine because that is the only consistency my skin can absorb at this point. I use a few actives to treat the persistent fungus, but my skin needs a moisturizer because these are dehydrating. In order for my face to be less infected, it has to look and feel like leather, with virtually no moisturizer on it. I feel like I'm unable to repair my skin barrier, maintain hydration in my skin, or even wear makeup because any moisture or oil on it turns it bright red from the fungal growth, which I also have an autoimmune inflammatory condition to. I also can't figure out why no moisturizer absorbs into my skin at all, even when freshly washed.

Ooor you fell into a trap thinking everything feeds the fungus? Been dealing with seb derm and dandruff for about 20 years, and as far back as I can remember, my skin was best when I used medium thick moisturizer + oil high in Omega 6 to help the barrier. FA safe moisturizers usually make my skin barrier bad overtime, then weakened barrier makes my skin over-reactive, which then can cause a flare even with antifungal ointment on the skin lol. I found that most triggers are sth I can't really control, like stress, weather/seasonal changes, pollen, or even some random thing. So I don't think we should stress about moisturizers (that much). I know that some people prone to seb derm should avoid oils high in Omega 9 because they can cause a flare after the skin being inflamed by it, not directly because it fed the fungus. Not sure if you got all this info from the Simple Skincare Science guy, but I think he manipulated sooo many people, so he can sell his skincare products lol. Of course, he backed his posts with studies, but most of them if not all weren't made on humans. Bacteria can grow out of control in vitro too. Skin is complex, and seb derm is even more complex, many scientists don't even know the exact cause of it. What's the difference - using a moisturizer with unsafe ingredients vs safe ones/no moisturizer if you can't stop the sebum production at all? Oils and sweat constantly secrete onto your skin surface. If you turn red in a matter of minutes, maybe you're reacting to some ingredients, like fragrances, some preservatives, or even niacinamide (ughh, my skin hates it)? Fungus needs some time to grow, especially in presence of bacterial flora, no way it can do it in 5 mins. Last winter, my skin barrier was so bad, I turned red after washing, then it burned randomly throughout the day. I thought I got rosacea on top of seb derm lol. Was so stressed, constantly monitoring it in the mirror, making it worse and worse. It's better now this summer, no more burning and redness after washing, but I get weird rashy bumps in most dehydrated areas. You could say it's fungal acne, but I think it's just bad skin barrier reacting. I got some seb derm patches in most oily areas, mainly hairline, under nose, and I can tell the difference, as it was itchy/burning, scaling differently than the areas that are dehydrated. I'm pretty sure my "dandruff" is just awfully dehydrated skin. Then, sometimes I get random seb derm patches on my scalp because my skin isn't hydrated. It's usually the healthiest when my hair is a few millimeters long (I'm a male), and using moisturizer on my scalp after washing. I know one thing - it's so frustrating that we can't get it under control 100% - the moment you think it's good, some random trigger causes a flare up, then you stress about it, and it's a never ending circle :(

@@zares_fnx Thank you for the detailed response, and I am sorry that you are dealing with this awfulness too. I don't know who the Simple Skincare Person is, but I will be skeptical should I encounter their content. I developed seb derm after contracting oral cold sores 10 years ago. The virus broke the immune system in my entite body like people w HIV. So I cannot regulate the normal bacteria/fungus/microorganisms on my skin anymore. The lack of my immune system's inability to balance these leads to supercolonization of them in a matter of hours at times. Once they overgrow, an inflammatory response occurs which is too severe, thus causing a further degradation of the barrier like you mentioned. Another thing you mentioned, not sure if it is due to the barrier disruption or not, is that my skin has become hypereactive to fragrances and cosmetic ingredients. There are so many I can never predict what will cause what. I have the biggest problem w the seb derm because the autoimmune reactions and barrier weakening cause extra sebum production, so out of all the organisms the fungi grow the most and cause the worst inflammatory response. I may even have an inflammatory response TO sebum at this point. I've gotten a lot undet control with diet (cut out anythung that can feed yeasts in particular for me), and a rigorous "Dandruff Shampoo is now your soap" routine. I eem have to change the clothes on my body multiple times a day if sweat get on them or my body skin barrier disrupts as well. I have body fungal infections 24/7. The only relief I ever got was from IVIG treatments. They block autoantibodies and also provide antibodies to fungus y body cannot make. However, my condition isso rare and IVIG use is linked only to specific test values (not applicable in my case), the insurance dropped it during the pandemic and I am still trying to get it back. I hope your journey continues to improve. I had to look into all kinds of stuff about dandruff and it sounds like it is actually an autoimmune condition that nobody wants to address as such in the medical community, but it is a nightmare if it is severe, not just cosmetic.

I've really gotten into skincare and always use undereye creams, cleansers, and moisturizers. However I've been getting a lot of milia. Almost like the thicker the moisturizer, the more they pop up? Should I go back to gel moisturizers even though I'm dryer? I'm kind of lost.

Thank you so much for sharing about your routine and your skin! It sounds like you’re already using some great products! If you’re concerned about fine lines and wrinkles, you might want to look for a serum or a treatment based moisturizer that has retinoids in it! And of course, keep up with a good daily sunscreen. If you really want to go the extra mile, you could use peptides as well. But when it comes to moisturizers, you can find moisturizers that have active ingredients in them, or use your act in a serum along with them moisturizer that is best for your skin type!but also love your review of that peach and Lili product!❤

Are these ok given my rosacea ? I’m also a Fitzpatrick type 1.
