    Thank you man! Yeah I use a program called Illustrator mainly to resize and print my images. It’s not free so that’s probably the only downfall. I’m not really sure if there are other vector programs out there that can do the same thing. I’ll have to look around and see to help you guys out.

    Thank very much Ethan. That’s a very good question. I’ve been asked to do titanium scales before and guy was willing to pay anything for it. Problem is that it’s so expensive and hard of a metal that I’m not really sure what would work best. Tungsten carbide would be my suggestion on burs to use but at the same time I have no experience with it so I’m not really sure. I would maybe flip the scales around and try to engrave the inner side first and see how it behaves. Best of luck!

    Gotcha. Diamond burs are good for glass and some surface engraving like what I do with painted yeti cups, although it’s not so good at engraving metal. I would suggest looking at some tungsten carbide burs. The one that I use in this video I bought at Grainger.com and I believe I included the part number in the description. If you have a store near you shipping is usually free for store pickup, otherwise it’s a little on the expensive side. Hope that helps!

  • @TriadoCustomEngraving

    @TriadoCustomEngraving

    Hello Mark, I haven’t tried engraving anything titanium so I wouldn’t have any recommendations for that. As far as being safe, use tungsten carbide bur at 25,000 rpm. Use lubricant such as pro-cut, this would help with cutting and also helps with keeping your bur sharp longer. Obviously wear eye and hearing protection while you’re at it.

    @@TriadoCustomEngraving thanks for the insight and the tips! I’m bummed bc I got the knife but it came new with some scratches already on it. I haven’t owned a titanium knife before, but many others, so I’m new to the metal, and don’t know if it’s a let the scratches go and continue on letting it be bc it adds character, or if it’s something that’s considered a blemish or a flaw. My copper stuff it made it look awesome but it also had a patina to go along with the scuffs. I really like what you did with the pm2 up there. I will definitely grab the bur and I’m so grateful for your rpm recommendation as well.

    Thank you. I just seen this reply now. I haven’t started yet so I’ll order it up. Also, can’t find the pro cut you are speaking of. Where would I find that? Also, is there an alternative? Or something at the depot as an alternative. I’ll check back here periodically bc I somehow did not get any notifications for your reply. I seriously appreciate the responses and I also bought two squid knives from Amazon to do first so if there’s any mistakes the first or second time I will be able to accept them on a 20 dollar knife instead of the Ti one first. Lol. I also picked up a better rotary machine from what I had. Well at least a more powerful one. I believe it caps out at 30k. It’s a lot faster than my old one. I understand why you said crank it to like 25k or so. It’s a more confident and smoother speed. I’m really anxious to get started, lol. But I’m going to wait till I have everything you recommend first bc I’d rather go into it knowing I have the best chance to come out great in the end. I have a real steady hand and am good with a tattoo machine, so I am hoping I can love this just as much and find another hobby and passion. Thanks for your replies btw, it’s not every day that ppl are out to help.
