Love mine too, more than any boot in *almost* every way EXCEPT Vans toe-box is *so* *damn* NARROW... tapers inward at the very end. Drives me nuts cuz every other part of the boots (I'm in Hi-Country Hell-Bent) is pretty much perfect.

For me it was the opposite I had to size up. I currently ride a Vans Hi Standard OG 2023 size 9. Normally I wear 8 in shoes, but the size 8 hi standards my toes were crammed, curled and pressure points. I've noticed some brands such as Ride were more true to fit but I'm a sucker for vans. the vans size 9 are comfortable out of the box (no need to heat mold) and wore em the entire 3 days at the big bear resorts (valley,summit, and bear) without having the urge to take them off. I had these ones since the middle of 22/23 season and still rocking them this season with no issues. I followed your advice from earlier videos from previous years about this topic and they helped me so much, thank you.

Similar sized up. I sized up so much I moved to men’s boots too (I’m a female with muscular legs). It’s great as I can get small men’s boots for cheap!

I’m literally the same right now! I bought a 7 originally online thinking I had to size down, too small and got the 8. Just tried them on and they’re snug but I can feel some pressure points on the top of my foot and under. So I’m wondering if getting the 9s are the way to go?

​@@antixhrist Im in the same boat as you right now. I've been riding with a size 10 for about 7 years now even though I'm a size 9 in shoes. Every time I try a new pair in a size 9 I get too much pain and just go back to my old boots. In my case I believe it is because my feet are a bit wider but that's pretty subjective. If you like the size up just go with it, I personally haven't had issues.

@@guyarnav so true, I also have a wider foot so I’m guessing that’s the issue we all have lol 😂 they’ve got sizes 8.5 as well so either way I should be fine without worrying if the 9 will be too big! Thanks a million! 🤘🏼

Yeah they can be like torture if they are wrong. The good thing about ski boots though is how much they can be altered to fit - which is way more than soft snowboard boots.

Should've covered heat molding on compatible liners and that the chin adjustable can be used on top of the liner (resort or park) or outside by the shell (freeride). Also bindings are sometimes responsible for foot pain if they're unadjusted to even up the pressure. Other times it's just bad stances/angles or weird body position (e.g. backfoot skidding). At the end of the day, take the liner out, let it breath outside and dont dry it with too fast/strong or you break the foam.

In the boots I've had, was having pain only in my right big toe even after breaking them in. I ended up getting these silicon toe protectors that i just put on my right big toe and that has helped a lot

Boots that feel comfortable in the store will probably be 1-2 size larger than they should be. I used to wear 11 size of Vans but realised that they are to big for me. This time I bought size 10 and it wasn't comfortable at all and I had a lot of pain in the beginning. After wearing them at home for a couple weeks they started to fit much better and when came the time to go to slope they were absolutely fine and my feet were less tired than when I had size 11.

They had the hi standard pro x Cole Navin on sale for 50$ freaking dollars with only one size left which was 9.5 and I normally wear shoes sizes 9-10. I was so scared when I first tried them on as I thought they were too small. My toes were crammed at the toe box and just felt way too uncomfortable, but I read around that it’s normal and that’s how it should be at first, so I wore them at home and even at work a couple of times. Then when I hit the slopes, they stretched out very nicely, and now I’m relived lol because you’re right if I did get maybe a size 10 then overtime they would’ve just been too big.

this is a bit late. But i’ve just bought a pair of the vans og, i got the US 10 and they burn my feet (feet hurt) when I chuck them on and walk around in them after 5 mins. I used to rock the 11’s but they ended up being too big. Hopefully what you’re saying is right and you’ve given me a bit of hope

@@NanRukey I was so happy with my boots this season, I could ride from top to the bottom with no boot pain that I had when I wore 11 size Vans Encore. My snowboarding has improved significantly. For reference my new boots are Vans Hi-country. I recommend experimenting with lacing, try to loosen it after the first ride when your feet get swollen.

Kevin always return to Vans 😂 👍👍. my foot measures 28 cm, I put it on the sole first and usually it works. I wear deeluxe (I have had several pairs). in 10.5/28.5 the insole is 28. I prefer to focus on the closing system. I had all 4 (speedlace, double boa, classic and hybrid.) for my comfort and support I am definitely for the hybrid which really supports my ankle. second choice classic lace.

Hey ​@@1sma_l. I was looking at the Deeluxe ID team line. I'm a sucker for the colourway of the 2020/21 version. I love that the Adidas superstars has a power strap.....but the lexicons... don't 🤔🤔

I bought K2 Boundary BOA (double BOA) shoes size 8, bought size 8 and fits perfect, no pain.. The only difficult part is to put the boots and remove I guess because fom is new and tight..

I really like the Adidas Tactical Lexicons ADV but think Adidas got out of the snowboard game. Vans have been my other boot of choice. As Kevin said, you know your feet the best. If they hurt in the store, they will likely Hurt on the mountain.

Width has been there most important element for foot pain for me. I have to ride boots that don’t touch my toes just to get them wide enough to not have pain under my toes

remember that you've been through a lot of pain bootwise, but for me at least those vans don't deserve their good rep (granted last time i tried them was 2019, but they had a great rep then too). Most boots cause me issues, and (the grandad of) these vans were no exception. Numb within 5 minutes, so it really is about your individual foot. Agree on the soft/mid flex of the boots though 100%. I got lucky - I walked into a local shop (syndicate in invermere, panorama, if you know it) - and the guy got me right first time with some nitro club boa. Never heard of them and though he was fobbing me off. But he was either a wizard or very lucky, because I went from literally not being able to find a boot that didn't make my feet go numb within 10 minutes, to my union force highbacks frequently unclip my top boa *and I don't even notice* because the fit of my boot is so perfect. It's like night and day for not only comfort, but flexibility and control. *Always* go small/soft if your feet hurt imo, trust your friendly snowboard shop server, they're right (but yeah, packing out badly and still hurting was always my fear too). Oh, and they were half the price of my previous boots. Like I said, know you've had boot problems and are around the powder highway, so give him a shout if you still do! (been there for years, it's the younger tall dude with blonde hair. fucking legend.)

Thanks for the share. What size feet are you if you don't mind me asking. I can relate on feet going numb. I'm size 8 and notice even wearing Burton ruler size 9 my feet go numb. Borrowed a friend's Solomon's by getting lot of heel lift and foot moving inside the boot

I wish people would just forget their shoe size when it comes to ski and snowboard boots. Most people only know what shoe size they wear, not what shoe size they actually are - and they are not the same thing. Measure your foot and start there. Forget the shoe size you wear. It's irrelevant.

I have high arches and it doesn't matter what boot I use, there is extreme pain. I've found that the solution is a footbed to match my high arch. Years ago I had custom footbeds made for my feet. They were $200 but lasted me 10 years. Eventually my foot shape changed and the pain returned but I found a pair of Superfeet insoles for $50 that fixed the pain. I also found that my feet got very weak from wearing shoes all the time. Now I make sure I'm barefoot at home and my feet have regained strength.

Barefoot and minimal shoes for the win. I'm 10 years in now and my feet are better than they've been all 20 years prior. (But it makes snowboard boot fitting even more of a pain. So many of them suck in terms of toe-box volume/shape.

I had a bad experience with Superfeet unfortunately, but they seem to work for many. I’ve found Tread Labs fit my whole arch where many insoles drop off pretty close to the heel.

Wait…. Snowboard shops will let you borrow some of their snow socks for fitting !? 🙌🏽

Bought a pair of vans on the first day of my holiday, toes were in agony so went back to the shop and they said it’s normal the boot will expand, which it has a little but I still can bad bruising of the toe, to the point my big toe nail comes off.. aside from that the bottom of my feet get so painful I have to stop a few times on a run that lasts less than 10 minutes

I have tried 3 different pairs of boots, 0.5 sizes apart, i keep experiencing a dull ache on both sides of the middle of my feet, followed by like what seems to sometimes be a burn type sensation on the soles.. I have tried hybrid lace boas and double boas, both vans and salomon, and unsure whats causing this pain, which happens after having them on about 20 mins around the house.. do i need a wider boot? i always thought i had wide feet in trainers, but according to the 'whats a wide foot' measurement, mine arent classed as 'wide'. i want to get riding and thought maybe theyll break in a bit and the pain will go but i am worried if it doesnt, and the money ill have wasted on my pair.. do i need a wide version of a boot? would a wide boot affect my ability to use step in bindings efficiently?

What about when walking in them and the top of the back digs into your calve all day? I don't hear this mentioned much, but I just went for the first time yesterday, and my calves are sore just from the top of the boot digging into my calve...

Some salespeople tell you to buy a size smaller. Maybe for racing 30 seconds and call it a day. These sales guys only read something on the internet and they don't snowboard. Your feet grow one size to 1.5 size bigger after 30 minutes of playing any kind of sport on your feet. I buy one size bigger.

I wear anything from 9.5 to 10.5 in shoes and boots, usually cowboy boots I’m a 9.5 or 10 usually anything Nike or a shoe that runs small im a 10 or 10.5, I just got these snowboard boots and ordered a 10 and it’s absolutely perfect, with thick socks on it’s perfectly tight, with normal socks on it doesn’t feel to much different just easier to take off and put on, I would go a half size up from your absolute perfect shoe fit which most people is a whole size down, if you wear a 10 for your shoes and your heel is pushed back all the way and your toes don’t touch your not a 10, your a 9 or 9.5 so don’t try and look cool and don’t lie to your self about the size foot you have, these are the best snowboard boots I have ever used so far

I recently got Burton step on bindings and I bought the boots through facebook marketplace and they were 1 size smaller and I am having discomfort on the toe part of the boot. Step on boots are so expensive and I don’t know what to do, they fit perfect when I was trying them on and when I went riding is when I noticed the pain lol.

Same here. my front foot big toenail turned black!! I just bought some nitro step ons. Hopefully they are better

My shoesize is 10 (EU 43) but I have Burton shoes in size 11 which I think fit perfectly. The guy at the shop was also trying to sell me like 5 pairs of smaller boots and was surprised after I said they were too tight over and over again.

Happened to me too. I noticed when I took my wife and son they chose a size larger than their show size. And even I asked are you sure. And the insisted the boots their size were too tight so I let them go with what was comfortable. I still have my first pair. And it’s always around mid day I have to loosen my right boot. The liner stitchn always puts a pressure point on my pinky, painful!

They told me I should wear a size 9.5 or 10. 10 hurt so damn bad! Been riding Size 11 DCs for several years now I and I dont even feel the need to take them off at the end of a long day.

Gotta try out vans again I’ve been riding the adidas sambas but they stopped making them :( so next time I need to replace my boots I’ll definitely cop some vans

I'm in the same boat as you, still riding my Sambas; but just before them, I did try the Vans Aura, and they killed my feet and achilles tendons.

Hi Kevin I’ve been snowboarding for a few years now and I’ve always found that I have tailbone pain when I sit on the snow. If you could make a video on some hacks to avoid tailbone pain that would be awesome!

Mma companies make good padded flex boxers, almost like a football girder. Pads are thinner and pad your tailbone, thighs, etc... lots of options out there. Hope this helps.

Get some impact shorts (used for snowboarding, mountain biking, motocross etc. Alternatively, don't sit down so much. I hardly ever feel the need to sit when out snowboarding.

Hi Kevin. I have a question that you might answer. So far i changed two pairs of boots and now i am on the third one. Three different brands (nitro,thirty two and now ride) and i have the same issue with all of them. At the top part i feel a terrible pain that feels like there is a razor stuck somewhere and cutting my leg. I dont know how to fix it and definitely its not the boots problem,it has something to do with me. Also the two first boots were with laces and the current is with boa. Thank you for your time.

I ride regularly, and if I'm doing a tail press and the part of my calf that is pointed to the tail of my board hurts

BOAs put pressure in weird places and always move around I prefer laces

i get crazy foot pain in my snowboard boots. my best setup is using step ons. i believe that not having to strap and add pressure on top of my foot has helped my foots blood circulation. my guess is that my foot begins to swell up as i ride. usually after my very first run im forced to loosen my boot to alleviate the pain. but even when riding with a loose boot i feel the pain lurking and ready to come back. i tried bigger sizes and it didnt help. currently i wear size 9.5 in sneakers and a wide 9 photon burton in snowboard boot. they have been the boot i less have to fight with. but again i think it is due to not having added pressure from a traditional binding. i do have a expensive custom foot bed. any suggestions ? and is there anyone that has gone through this before and found a solution ?

Damn my Ride Lassos do not stay tight at the shin at all. Really hurts the responsiveness. The strap at the top of the vans seems like it could be pretty nice. I don’t think I’ll do boas again.

How does this compare to the Adidas Tactical Adv Lexicon that you wore before? Do you still have them?

Just bought some hi standard pros. They fit so much better than the invado OGs. Definitely more TTS than the Invados. Haven't ridden in them yet. Will do next week and see how they go

So if my big toe jams into the front when riding hard, is it because of my boa system coming loose at the top from hard charges/carving, or are my boots too big? My toes touch the front when standing, and I don’t feel my toes when casually riding. (32 tm2, broken in 1 season, intuition liner)

Hello, I have a question, and I'm hoping some of you can offer some guidance. I've been using Burton Moto boots for about four seasons now. They initially fit well and were relatively soft from the start. However, lately, I've noticed that the boots have become extremely soft, requiring a lot of effort to get any response. I've also been experiencing a lot of heel lift, and my toes barely touch the front. Additionally, I've been experiencing discomfort on the upper part of my foot, possibly due to pressing against the tongue due to the heel lift and the single BOA system. The size of my Motos is 10 US. I recently ordered a new pair of Burton boots half a size smaller (9.5 US). They fit snugly, right out of the box, without discomfort, but my toes are touching the front of the boot, and there's noticeable pressure on them. When I bend my knees forward, the pressure decreases, but my toes still touch the front. There's no heel lift in these new boots. My question is whether the toebox of these new boots will widen out and become more comfortable after some riding, or should I consider going half a size bigger? I appreciate any advice you can provide, and thank you for the informative video.

In four years your toes will feel relaxed after wearing them for that long they get worn down after a heavy stomp day. Just like your originals :) hope that helps

I had DC Judge a few years ago, absolute crap, starting falling to pieces in 2 weeks. Bought Burton ESP and will never go back, I’ve had them years and they are as good as new, perfect fit and super comfortable. The double BOA hasn’t missed a beat.

Hey Kevin! Yeah. I do like the look of vans infuse (arthur longo edition) edition. Just have to do some homework on non-bulky boots. I think K2s are as small shell-wise as Adidas. Excellent/inspiring channel btw

So the advice for finding snowboard boots that are pain free is to find boots that are pain free? Lol

Hey kid, nice way for you to get a free pair of vans boots 😂 but unfortunately this hardly answers a thing on how to end boot pain, only gives advice on what to look out for when buying a pair.

I get my pain under my foot and on my foot wrist🥹 cant ride for more then 1 round before i have to take off my shoes, aint got no money for new ones eighter so it will be 2 seasons before i can ride again😩

Pain under your foot points to a support problem. You might just need footbeds that actually meet your needs.
