I had to learn all of that on my own. Trial and error I suppose. My #6 is when things get sketchy and you' think you might fall, get lower on your board. Makes it harder to fall, and when you do fall it hurts less because there's less distance between your butt/face and the ground and sometimes if you're tucked in you can just roll right back onto your feet without stopping.

Tip number 1.5: learn how to push and ride switch, so you can go up the chairlift in your regular stance and switch stance equally. This reduces the cumulative strain that can build up on one leg and cause overuse injuries if you ride say 50+ days in a season.

Also helps when stopped and waiting for the rest of the group if you're riding with friends that may be a bit slower. @@SnowboardProCamp Here are a few that I could think of, but they are a bit more situational. I think you got the main ones, especially the chair lift thing. That is a huge tip to learn that I am always sharing with people! -Tapping heel to get heel back in boot before tightening them -After first tightening a boot, squat a few times then re tighten boots (works best with boa but other lacing can still benefit) -Flipping board over when you want to put it down (if someone is injured on the other side of a roller, you can do this with the high backs up to have it lean at an angle at the top of the roller to make sure people don't run into the injured person until patrol gets there -Using a board to help pull yourself up when hiking steep powder (highback loops become handles to pull) -Use a car snow brush your board before throwing it in your car

There is a very important addition to hack#2 It's about safety on a steep slope. it is necessary to make an equally deep shelf in the snow under the second boot. therefore, you push the snowboard to the distance of your stance along the edge and once again make a shelf for the board under your foot, which is strepped up the binding. before strepping the second binding, the snowboard will stand securely on two steps, under each foot.

Depends on where you are. In Michigan, there's not one ski lift with a foot rest bc they don't call for it. It's like a minute ride at the longest for most of them. These tips are helpful for beginners for sure, but not for someone that's been riding for 5, 10, 15, 20 years. You figure alot of this out within the first couple years and he knows that obviously.

A better chair lift hack is to cross your free foot behind your board foot and rest your heel cup on top of your free foot. Its more comfortable and you don't have to worry about cut stitching or your toe slipping off.

I just started snowboarding again last week since middle school. I got the riding part down. What do you suggest when learning how to carve. I’m having issues clipping edges when going from toe to heel

Hard to say without watching you board. But, when I see people with this issue they are often doing something called counter rotating. Also you will need speed to carve so if you don't have enough speed it's difficult to change edges. Practice flat 360 spins on a green for edge control.

You can also put your board on while on the chairlift. Bit of a pain but doing it early on will make getting off easier and no need to strap on after

Amazingly, I learned all these hacks by instincts. When you're about to say what will do, I'm kinda guessing. Even the penguin walk, No one taught me, it's just I got tired walking on foot and removing one strap so I did the penguin walk.

Scrape out snow from open binding while standing, then stomp your unstrapped boot on 'clean' part of board...this prevents ice building in binding and boot. Also: tighten bindings ON the mountain when you get there(if you dont use locktite--which i wouldnt,) this way the metal in the screws and threads are acclimated to temperature and moisture..heat and moisure expands/cold and dry shrinks...this is why they loosen after you just tightened them.

In my early years of snowboarding I ruined a couple of gloves with the "#5 grab board standup" trick, the edge of the board cuts into them easily. I almost always just do the roll/standup backwards way, much easier.

I have a question about board sizing. I’m 120 and 5’9 and riding a 149 at the moment but I slip out on groomed runs/ firm snow. Guessing it’s a good park board now. It is 4 inches below my chin and I’m wondering where a all mtn board should line up
