I had no lessons and basically threw myself into snowboarding, watched other people copying what they did, just learning as I went along............. I wish I'd had lessons like this.

Yeah, I learned 30 years ago and nobody knew what they were doing lol... Equipment was trash too, I was wearing hunting boots. My first run I just pointed it. I went along fine until I picked up a scary amount of speed and tried to turn heelside, at which point I caught my toe edge and scorpioned onto my face. Blood and everything. I decided turning was too dangerous so I just straight-lined it the rest of the way to the bottom at which point I realized I didn't know how to stop, so I just bailed out at. I pretty much did that all day. I have never been more sore than I was the next morning. Took me about two or three more trips before I could turn both ways and stop fairly consistently. It was a battle.

I can honestly tell anyone watching that I learned snowboarding this season by watching this series, all six parts, without a coach. It was probably the most fun I ever had on the slopes and now I can confidently call myself an intermediate snowboarder. I can now carve well, do ollies, and consistently complete terrain parks without wiping out. For anyone out there hesitating to try out this sport, I ask to you to give it a try. Yes, your first time is going to be rough. Your ass will hurt. But it'll be worth it in the end. Lots of thanks to Snowboard Addiction for helping me out

I couldn't have found a more accurate comment. It's exactly what I was meaning. I also watched all the 6 parts just before trying to snowboard for the first time, and I was surprised how good I was just by watching those videos and without any coach. Last winter I only snowboarded for 4 half-days and I was good enough to do most of the slopes with confidence. The most usefull tip I learned on those videos was to put a lot of your weight on your front foot. Without this tips you will just fall every time, mostly when you'll try to do a toes side turn. As soon as you're remembing that you're falling because your weight is on your back foot, you just have to put your weight on your front one and you'll be much better and stop falling that often. In fact, that's counter intuitive but it's the BEST TIP EVER you could learn to start snowboarding. Thanks a lot for those videos that are really great and helpful !

My first day was me renting a snowboard, figured out how to straps in one foot myself, survived getting on and off the lift on bunny hills, took monumental effort to stand upright for a few seconds without falling, then stumbling downhill on the board destroying my butt, back, wrists and forearms along the way thinking “just go for it”. I finished the day with several ibuprofens. I wish my first day was like this video...

I LOVE this sport, been All over western USA and British Columbia. I can’t tell all of you beginners how snowboarding change me!. I’m a multi sport athlete and adding snowboarding to my repertoire was one the best things in my life!. One advice I give to newbies is NEVER GIVE UP! Im 35 years old and have always been thinking snowboarding looked so much fun and cool! About two weeks ago, my sister invited me to go to a cabin with her and her family to spend some time with them. They rented me a snowboard (i've never ever been riding one, but i've been into skateboarding when i was younger, quit when i was about 17) and it was the most fun i've had in years. Took me just a few hours to get it down. I was there for two days and i learned alot by myself and i love it! Im about to buy myself a board and start having fun in the winter! The best part is, in a month, im going back there and will be riding the snowboard again! :D

I started snowboarding very late, when I was 23y old and in the days, when there were no schools and instructors yet. It's a shame there weren't even videos like this, I would have saved myself a lot of falls :) Later I was an instructor in the Austrian Alps. Snowboarding is a really easy sport for anyone, my youngest student was 5y old and my oldest student was 72y old. I wish everyone a lot of snow and experiences!

I m 27 years old and I just started to learn snowboard, we´ve been not very rich so I did not even have the opportunity to learn skiing but I was always tempted towards snowboard. Now I am at 27 learning it and it feels a lil bit embarassing falling down and learning meanwhile there are kids going downhill like pros. However, I love it so far, my sister now got me a snowboard since she knew I was borrowing them until I learn but I have the perfect motivation now since I got my own gear now and I can focus to learn on my own board. These videos are good, gona blast through them and see if it helps :)

THIS SERIES FIXED MY SNOWBOARDING!!! This method of taking a real beginner and teaching them is very helpful and effective. I was struggling changing edges and turning, and I got lessons about toe and heel edge position, but wasn't told about opening/closing shoulders/hips/knees. And I was told to point downhill and then change edges which isn't technically correct. You can change edges when your board is pointing in the direction you're traveling, and you slowly engage your next edge at 12 o'clock like you mentioned. Now, I balance over my board, squat a little for heel edge, push my shins down for toe edge, and lock in my edge. To turn the board, you just slightly open or close your shoulders/knees, the further closed the sharper the turn. I see all of this in your videos, and finally put it to practice today. Had my best day snowboarding yet, and finally feel like I can call myself a snowboarder. You're lessons are working and helped a newbie like me become excited for next season. Thanks, and keep it up! Ps. I subbed because of this beginner series 🙂

Worked great on about 6"-8" of average snow starts to struggle a bit past 8". kzread.infoUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN Very light weight and the chute spin control works well. For the low price you get a ton of value. My only complaint is managing the cord as it does take a fair bit of effort to watch and pull the cord out of the way. I found myself having to whip the cord out of the way a lot when I needed to make one way passes to mange the blow direction. It's less of an issue when you can work both directions. A battery powered version would be a lot easier to handle but that is also double the price and requires battery care. I chose the corded version so I didn't have to worry about batteries but I do now see how much work the cord is. I let my neighbor borrow it and it outperformed his smaller gas blower, he was totally sold. Very pleased with the power and operations. My only suggestion is to spend a bit more on a cordless version if you have budget for it. The cord is a bit more of a headache than I thought it would be. Very pleased with the Snow Joe brand and quality.

This is the perfect video for me! I'm a surfer, skateboarder and wakeboarder. I tried snowboarding on my own, thinking, "how much different can it be?" Well, it was different. Seeing Tim making the exact same moves and mistakes I did makes me feel much better! Thank you so much for posting these videos! I'm off to watch lesson 2. I think these are going to help me a lot. Thanks again.

I still find (after 32 years of snowboarding) pushing with my foot in front of the board is more natural for me. Behind still and always will seem like the weird option to me! Teaching my 3 boys tomorrow, we will see what they prefer, probably behind the board and they like to do the opposite of what I say

One tip that may help someone that I wish I had known when I was first learning was to make sure your boots are put on properly. I tied up my boots like walking shoes that turned out to be a big mistake. I had no control over the board, in the video you can see the beginner and his board slide out when he was applying pressure at 18:35. That's a symptom of the boots being too loose. Lace up the boots so they are tight (not to the point where you lose circulation) because you don't want your feet to be lifting out of the boot. It will give you better control of the board.

My first true day of snowboarding was at Winter Park in Colorado, I took a group lesson on New Year's Day and my guide was a 19 year old who told me he'd tripped on acid the night before. He was so hungover he nearly puked off the lift while I rode up with him. Did I mention this lesson was $200?? Waste of time and money, I learned almost nothing my boyfriend couldn't have just taught me himself. I wish it had been more like this! I was never instructed to shift/put pressure on my feet differently inside the boots, so I just Hail Mary-ing down the mountain full speed with no control and kept wiping out to the point where I could barely move the next day for how sore my quads were..

Thank you guys, this is how I learned to avoid constantly falling from the snowboard. I'd call your video, exercise number 1 at minute 14:30, or ground zero starting point. I followed your video advice on a relatively flat surface until it kicked in... I never fell to the ground again unless I wanted to seat down in the snow. When I started I'd do like everyone trying to let the board go free and then hit hard the ground (rookie mistake)... Then I thought about a car analogy, what do you do to learn to drive a car... The first action is to learn to break... or break control. So I found your video and at minute 14:30 help me to learn break control... or stop without falling to the ground. 🙏🤝👊

That is a great question to ask Nev. He could give you a far better answer than I could. He does a live session every week on ADDICTION+ and can discuss this directly with you. Also if you have a video of you riding send it to us and he will look at it on Sunday and give you real-time feedback.
