As a chef i would like to state that if the soup comes with bread the bread goes in the soup. No “elegant” restaurant would make you eat just plain bread. If the bread is not for the soup it would be served with oil or some sort of butter/tapanade

Good attempt but not accurate. I know this video is a joke, but for anyone who seeks to become more sophisticated, here is the real way. I levitate the soup directly onto my forehead and let it dribble down my nasolabial folds (approximately) and just open my mouth really wide to show enjoyment of the meal, and the soup mostly goes inside sometimes. This is way I've seen people enjoy their soups at presidential dinners. If there is bread present, you must not touch it. It is your neighbor's bread. Accordingly, show neighborly trust by reaching to your LEFT table neighbor and taking THEIR bread. Manner of consumption does not matter in this case. If you are the furthest left at your table, you're shit out of luck. The only bypass of this etiquette problem is by going under the table to take the bread of the person sitting directly across from you. Again, if there is no one seated there, you won't be having bread that night. It's important to demonstrate graceful restraint and acceptance of circumstances. Children in Africa are starving every second children starve in Africa.

She’s mistaking posh etiquette for elegance. They are not remotely the same thing. Elegance is your character and integrity and how you conduct yourself in all aspects of your life. Guess she missed the memo.

@@tigerlover7359 i mean....i agree for the most part, but i was taught from a young age not to rest my elbows on the table, so i never have....it was a bad habit i had that got broken early...it's a form of etiquette so that when/if you ever make it to a nice restaurant, you don't look like a heathen. Go to a country club and start chowing down on your food like you do at home...you're gonna get some strange looks. If you're cool with that, go on with your bad self, BUT it doesn't hurt to culture yourself and have a sense of decorum when needed....as Tati said "time and place"

Food is meant to be enjoyed, there shouldn’t be any stress if you’re doing it wrong or not. My gf and I love sharing meals together and I love how she’s able to eat comfortably. She’s told me stories about how she used to feel judge when she would eat with others. I’m so glad that she feel comfortable around me and I’m glad that there’s no pressure and would love it if others could enjoy food the same way as we do. ✌🏻

Nah I've seen really elegant people. They handle themselves with so much class (it's amazing even those who are not rich like me can have this naturally) I eat respectfully and appropriately without thinking about other people's opinions but whenever I am with people like her, you can really see the difference. So no, you can't just be truly elegant with just being respectful and appropriate.
