How to cook TONKATSU (Japanese style pork cutlet) 〜とんかつ〜 | easy Japanese home cooking recipe

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I am cooking Tonkatsu (Japanese style pork cutlet). This is not an easy dish and it does take more than 30 min to make, but it is definitely worth the time. I am also showing how to make an alternative Tonkatsu sauce using Ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. If you make it more than for that day, you can also make Katsu-don (Rice bowl with Tonkatsu) with the leftover on the next day, which is also very delicious.
In my channel, I show authentic but alternative Japanese home cooking, which can be make with the ingredients available outside of Japan.

I love Japanese food and it’s great to see how you cook with what’s readily available in Germany. This makes it even easier to give your recipes a try.

Japanese Wiener Schnitzel!!! I grew up in Hawaii and had this lots of times. Until I joined the Army and was stationed in Germany that the Germans had been making this for a long time. I had mines with Pomme Fritze or fries with curry ketchup and with sauer kraut the German or European version of Kimchi without the red spicy sauce mix. 😋😋😋😋😋 The Japanese did adopt some European foods and cooked them to Japanese taste. Tempura is Portuguese in origin but with the pork cutlet in panko is awesome. 😋😋😋😋 The word Panko comes from Portuguese of Pan which means bread.

Love the alternative to the sauce as it is a bit difficult to fine Japanese sauces in the Caribbean, love the taste of Japanese food it appeals to my palate. What kind of bread do you recommend?

What is the white cord you tie around your sleeves called? Does the action of putting the cord around your sleeves have a verb? Does it have an onomatopoeia sound?

the action is called "Tasuki-gake" the verb would be "tasuki-gake sure (to do Tasukigake)" the string is called Tasuki or Tasuki-himo (Tasuki-string). no onomatopoeia for it.

The use of “matching with” is confusing. I think what you really mean that it “pairs well with”, or “goes well with”. Matching is usually used with colors or clothing. The colors match, or the clothes match. Rice goes well with beef, pork, vegetables. Look it up when you have a chance.
