How to make GYOZA 🥟 (Fried Dumplings/Potstickers) 〜餃子〜 | easy Japanese home cooking recipe

In my Channel, I show step by step of alternative but authentic Japanese home cooking, which can be made with the ingredients that are easily available outside of Japan.
In this video, I am making Gyoza, Japanese style fried dumplings. In this video, I am using a pre-made Gyoza skin, which can be easily found in the frozen section of most asian store.
Ingredients for Gyoza (2-3 Servings)
Ground pork 150g
Cabbage* 3-4 leves (approx. 300 g)
Scallion 2-3
Garlic 1-2 cloves
Ginger 1 small piece
Salt 1/2 Tsp
Gyoza Skin 40-50 pcs
Frying oil 1 Tsp
*You can also use Nappa cabbage instead.
Sauce for Gyoza (1 serving)
- Soy sauce 2 Tsp
- Vinegar (rice wine vinegar) 2 Tsp
- Sesame oil 1/2 Tsp

    Oishisooooo. I made the skins myself in the past, because I couldn’t find them where I lived. There are good tutorials on KZread for anyone with the same problem. 👍🏼

    Taiji I know a little about a lot and I know in China numbers are critical. For example in Hong Kong there is a crab dish that is cut specifically cut into 11 pieces for numerical purposes. I bring this up to ask this question. Meaning that gyoza are originally a Chinese dish and knowing that Chinese forms of Buddhism have a numerology in it wouldn't it be proper to have or know the right amount of pleats, and does Japanese forms of Buddhism & culture also follow some kind of numerology in it also and does it traditionally carry over to its food?

    I assume they are the same. Gyoza (餃子) is Japanese word for dumplings.

    Shiitake mushrooms chopped up fine would make a good meat substitute or if you want a little less earthy flavor use Crimini mushrooms. They grow up to be Portobellos.

    Thank you. I will try these. The itsu version of Gyoza in the frozen section of the supermarket in London is really pricey. Is there any chance that you can demonstrate how to make Japanese pickled sushi ginger.

    I'd put a lot more meat as well as tons of garlic. (half meat half veges) also missing is chili oil for the sauce. He mad more or less white men's version with very little spice.

    There you go again, Taiji-san, making it all seem so simple, if time consuming! My problem is I really don't like gyoza, because I simply don't enjoy the 'mouth feel' and crispiness that inevitable happens when you pan fry gyoza! What I have done up to now is to simply drop Chinese potstickers into a ready made bowl of miso soup (minus the obligatory firm tofu!) with all the necessary garnishes of chopped scallions and fresh herbs added just before serving. My question to you Taiji-san is whether your very easily prepared potstickers can be steamed in a separate steam cooking, rather than deep fried, with only a few table spoon of water, which dry up immediately leading to th crunchy caramelized burnt surface of your gyoza?

    yes, definitely you can steam or cook in water with these Gyoza! for that make sure the seams are tightly sealed, otherwise the good flavor will be lost, especially if you are boiling them!

    @@vidyachetan468 well, in the western culture, they eat almost always wheat and still ok. I have hear of that argument of wheat "sticking" on the digestive system, but I believe its a myth. scientificaly wheat is made of mainly carbohydrate (starch), which will be broken down with the gastric acid in the stomach. i don't think we use them any differently.
