How to connect a TV to your vintage or 2.1ch stereo (Fiio Taishan D03K inline DAC Review)

Keep in mind you will NOT be able to control volume using the TV remote using this method, you will instead use your preamp or int amp remote. If you don't have volume control consider buying a remote controlled version, something like Neoteck 192kHz Digital to Analog Audio Converter with IR Remote Control on Amazon should do the trick.

    Hey, thanks for the video, great review! I have a AS501 Yamaha amp and for some reason, the optical input is not working with my TV (sony KDL-60W855B), even when I set PCM on the TV. The amp should be fine with PCM and the funny thing is that the optical input works on the amp with my PS4. Anyway, do you think this DCA would sound better than utilizing the optical input directly?

    Really nice vid. Thanks a lot. I have only 90s old school Hi-Fi experience and I would be glad if you could answer my question. I have my first DAC now, the Fiio Taishan DAC and a Wii Mini Streamer for my old Marantz receiver. How do I connect the amp with the Wiim Mini and the DAC ? My amp has RCA only. So to say do I have to connect the Fiio or the Wiim Mini with my receicer via RCA ? Thanks again for your input.

    Thanks for this video. I have an old Pioneer receiver and generally use it to play records. My Samsung TV is plugged into the aux input using a similar digital to analog converter as the one in your video. Sounds great. However, the Pioneer receiver doesn't have a remote control because of its age. It's a good amp and sounds wonderful when playing records (which is what I do most) but, for when my wife and I are watching TV I'd like to find a product that controls the volume coming into the receiver digitally by remote. Is there such a thing? The product I have has a gain control on the device, but it too requires me to get off the couch to change the volume. Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance!

    Hey Tim, that just might be how your TV is, Vizio for example has the same problem with their analog outputs, the volume is just so low and there is no adjustment for it. Can you just turn up your amp more? If that's not an option or you just don't feel comfortable leaving the volume so high you can buy remote control dacs on amazon that let you turn up the volume for about $20.

    Volume was the same as using any other input :) Do keep in mind you must adjust the volume from the stereo though as you will lose your TV's remote volume functionality. Also some TV have optical volume adjustments in the settings, one of my TV's (sony x950g) had it and at first the volume was like nothing until I found the setting. My other TV (Samsung RU8000) doesn't have that setting but sounds normal.

    Hi, our TV is connected to an android TV box via HDMI and RCA audio out to a Sony sound 5.1 sound system. I noticed that it needs more volume. Is adding a hardline DAC/Amp in coaxial for our TV the way to add more volume?

  • @NemoPropaganda

    @NemoPropaganda

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi friend! So first things first is check to make sure your TV doesn't have a volume setting for digital audio outputs, most Sony TV's have it, if your TV has this then problem solved! If your TV does not have this i would try a different audio output like optical or RCA if your TV and android box have this option. Sadly some TV's like cheaper Vizio just have low volume output on their digital signals for some reason. If none of this fixes the problem you can go optical out to a DAC with volume control like this www.amazon.com/Neoteck-Converter-Digital-Coaxial-Adjustment/dp/B07G6YXSHD/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=dac+remote&qid=1598744005&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExUDNaWTFKUjY2ODBCJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjcyNTY3OUZGWElWVzkzSjVBJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxODc3NjcyMENIT0hLV05CR0omd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl so you can raise the volume from the dac and analog out to your Amp. Set that DAC volume high enough that you have usable volume control on your amp and problem solved. If this isn't an option let me know and i will type some more options but this would be the best if you can bypass the android box and just go straight from TV to DAC to amp.

    @@NemoPropaganda Hi, thanks for the response! A few things I'd like to add: The TV is no longer from Sony and is a Chinese branded replacement with only RCA and coaxial audio out. I'm assuming that the Sony 5.1 sound system acts as the amp via RCA now and I can upgrade for a coaxial DAC that I can volume adjust? I'm not sure how the Fiio Taishan is different from the one you linked aside from having the remote? I was hoping to upgrade the DAC and volume set once and be left alone behind the TV? This is for my parent's home and having the Android box recently already is a learning curve for them so I'm hoping for a simplified volume fix, I understand now that the box is merely a source to the TV and the TV to the sound system is where the upgrade is required. Thank you for the information!
