    There are 3 versions of this DAC. The first version used a Wolfson DAC chipset and no headphone out, which i have. The current version uses a different Cirrus Logic chipset that has a totally different sound signature. Try to find the version 1 if you can. It has silver RCA outputs, not gold.

    Would this be good to use with my Schiit Magni 2 amp / HD650 headphones? Or would you recommend selling my amp and buying an amp/dac combo? Would this Fiio work with my xbox one?

    Hey I'm planning to purchase this for my LED TV, it has a digital optical output and a 3.5mm. Right now I'm using an amplifier with the 3.5mm output, should connecting it to the digital output and then to an amplifier(E18) sound better? I also want to know if digital output from a TV is better than its 3.5mm. Thanks.

  • @Taylordtech

    @Taylordtech

    The digital output from the TV will likely be much better than the 3.5mm output. As long as the TV supports PCM as an optical audio format you should be good.

    Thanks for the video 1 question though, can I use Fiio Taishan D03K for DAC and onboard's amp? or do I have to get an external amp? Thanks Edit: I'm trying to pair it with ath ad700x as this has low ohm

    I'm going to use this on the PS4 (Optical out) obviously as a DAC since my monitor (I use a computer monitor on my PS4) doesn't have audio out for HDMI. What are your thoughts on this? It's fairly cheap so I could just dive right in, but I want to get some opinions first. Edit: I just noticed there are existing answers for this question. But would appreciate some feedback too. :D

    +poiXquared As with the other reply...just dont plug headphones directly into it. You would be disappointed. If you want something to plug headphones into, they make a DAC/Amp combo (the E10K) that should suit your needs, just be aware its a little over twice as expensive.

    AC3 and DTS are multichannel encoding formats. This device has 2 (two) analogue outputs, not six. Two channels program encoded as AC3, AAC or else can be decoded by the digital source device setting up the dig out to PCM stereo, with no loss o quality. In the case of 5.1, everything will be downmixed to Rt Lt.

    Can i use this to improve the Sound of my PC Setup? I have a Soundcard which is connected directly with an optical cable to my receiver where i have 2 JBL Studio 220 and 1 sub connected.

  • @Taylordtech

    @Taylordtech

    I kinda doubt it. This only supports PWM (simple stereo) and your receive will likely have more multi-channel options. Also Im willing to bet the receiver has a decent DAC in it already.

    if it takes an optical signal and outputs sound it has to have a DAC (digital to analog converter).

    Can someone help me get an answer to this: What's the difference in quality if I connect my sound bar (which doesn't have digital input) directly with my TV's analog output compared to connecting my sound bar to TV's digital output through this device? Thanks for your response/help.

    +Lokesh Sahal you may not notice much of a difference. It depends on the quality of your TV and the DAC inside it

    Not unless you have a headphone amp to hook up between the DAC and the headphones. It doesnt have any volume control and its output level is pretty low.

    This is probably a bit late, but I wanted to know if I need an amp for this even if the motherboard I'm running this off of is extremely strong and powerful, so much that at 1 volume my headphones are approximately 60dB (Done by ear testing, not accurate at all, just an average volume like a conversation with someone). Can I just run it directly off or do I still need a headphone amp?

  • @Taylordtech

    @Taylordtech

    your motherboard's power wont make a difference. its a line level output, so it will need an amp of some sort for headphones.

    how do I use this with my studio monitors on my pc?

  • @Taylordtech

    @Taylordtech

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Friskee Walker It kinda depends on what monitors you have. In general, you would do a toslink or coax out from your PC to the Fiio, and an RCA cable from the Fiio to your monitors. Its a pretty simple device...no crazy settings to mess with. Just make sure you turn off Dolby and DTS on your PC's sound card since this thing can only do PCM (which is all you need for stereo monitors. Dolby and DTS only offer more channels...not a quality difference)

    I do need help, sorry, didn't mean it as sarcasm. I'm a complete tard when it comes to knowing what cables I need and what all these different ports mean. I wanted to jump into the audiophile world and thought this would be a good 30$ step, and now I'm stuck lol. From what I gathered so far online, I should return this one and get a FiiO E10K if I want something that will work with my speakers and headphone, or am I wrong?
