my greenstar 42 burns Propane and a while ago would hardly heat the rads. Turns ou the whole centre of the HE was blocked witha circular wad of gunk. it took us a while to soften it up with bicarb solution which we pored into the top of the burner casing.

Take it out and jet wash it, I’ve found that the best way to get perfect results

Good video. Does anyone else find that on lots of these heat exchangers that give a low fan pressure reading, that after cleaning a ton of deposits out, that the reading hardly improves? The cause I’ve found in many cases has been to do with the burner, where the gauze like skin starts to go slightly saggy.

Yep, exactly the same. It’s like trying to clean up cement! Fan pressure rarely goes up when badly blocked! Same as the kebab, that Coca Cola trick does bugger all to remove a seized baffle

Hi. Great video. I’ve found several times that the middle slot seems to be blocked solid , I was using the Bosch tool I couldn’t get it clear and was worried about damaging it Why does this happen ? Perhaps I’ll try a nice or hacksaw blade ?

I always use a hacksaw blade on each horizontal channel, but it can still take some time to clear. Anything that is thin enough to slip in will be kept in line by the Heat Ex fins and not harm any one area. Then hack away. Especially those folks who haven’t touched it in 10 years This sodium bicarbonate idea is a good trick I’ll try But I know what you mean, it seems heavy handed but they all block around the same area and the service kits won’t shift it.
