  • @Windycityequip

    @Windycityequip

    10 жыл бұрын

    NKadi - Yes, the pilot flame is usually adjustable on fryers. But since different fryers use different gas valves, there is not always one universal way to adjust. On the most common fryer gas valves, however, you can follow the pilot line into the valve and look for a small silver flathead screw. This will usually be very near the pilot line and this flathead screw is usually just a "cap" that covers the the actual adjustment screw. Remove the flathead and locate the adjustment screw beneath (another smaller flathead). Turn clockwise to adjust the flame down, counterclockwise to adjust the flame up. Hope this helps! • @Windycityequip

    This usually means one of three things: Either you have a bad gas valve (only if the orifice remains lit after the unit shuts off) or you have a blockage in your burner or flame tube. OR sometimes, if the gas pressure is too low the flame can travel down the burner and ignite the orifice, but this would most likely be happening on all of your burners. I would check for blockages (soot buildup). Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    If the burners are cast iron you don't want to let them soak for long otherwise they'll rust. So I would say 30 min max. Make sure to use an non abrasive soap like Dawn dish soap. Scrub with plastic bristled brush and dry thoroughly before reinstalling them. So glad the videos help you! Thanks for watching!

    Great videos sir! I have an imperial fryer, same as the one you are working on here. My fryer developed a hole inside of it over the summer and the oil was leaking out. I took it out of commission, but was wondering if there was a way to repair the hole? Weld or braze it?

  • @Windycityequip

    @Windycityequip

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Kevin Carter With the drastic heat fluctuations, that hole cannot be repaired. It's an accident waiting to happen. The weld/braze will fail within weeks and then you'll have a fire hazard. You either have to replace the frypot or replace the fryer. How old is the unit? Imperial fryers have a 5 year pro-rated warranty on their frypots. If its more than 5 years old, get a new fryer. THanks for watching!

    I dont think I have a tutorial on that. But I'm definitely adding it my list now. That's a great idea. The best way to clear pilots it's with CO2. Disconnect the pilot line and throw a shot right down the tube. Sometimes they're too clogged and you're better off replacing. I'm pretty sure I have a video showing how to replace pilot tubes. Thanks for watching and subscribing. Got a bunch more how-to videos set to be released soon. So stay tuned!

    My fryolater caught fire inside the compartment this weekend on my food truck. We shut it off and later I tried to wipe down the areas in case it was a grease problem, tried to restart it, and had the same issues. Any suggestions on what my next steps are to check where the issue is? It doesn't seem to be a propane issue - could it be as simple as too much splattered grease everywhere, requiring a deep clean? Thanks!

  • @Windycityequip

    @Windycityequip

    5 жыл бұрын

    It absolutely could be. I have seen that many times. You should also check to make sure your frypot isn't cracked. Often you can identify this if there appears to be "oil trails" from any of the welds on the corners or burner tubes. Were you able to see what was on fire? If it was a gas line, the tank itself, or a specific component? Let me know and we'll se if we can isolate it. Thanks for watching!

    Can you use a degreaser on the cast iron burners and then scrape them with a spatula?

  • @Windycityequip

    @Windycityequip

    5 жыл бұрын

    No, I wouldn't use a degreaser. A lot of those are acidic and can damage the burners. You're better off using soap & water and a brush. Then, make sure the burners are 100% dry before setting them back in place and applying flame. Thanks for watching!

Since I put it back together I am getting burning on the inside plate in the fryer. How do I fix this it was not like this before also is there are certain area the baffles or plates inside the burner are suppose to be are they meant to be in the middle at the back or near front. Thanks for your time hoping you can help

  • @Windycityequip

    @Windycityequip

    Imperial has changed their design since I made this video and they went to the style that you are describing. If you installed them exactly how you took them out, there shouldn't be any change in the flame. This could be coincidental as it sounds more like a gas pressure problem. Either that or there is buildup or blockage in the burner tubes or the back flue. And yes, the flame tubes usually have "baffles" that rest close to the center. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    what about build up from propane and soot in the flue? How would you access the flue to clean the the build up out? thanks

  • @Windycityequip

    @Windycityequip

    9 жыл бұрын

    Steve Valentino Good question! Unfortunately I didn't have the time that day to show this. Pull out the fryer to access the back. Take off all screw on the backside (Left and Right). This will take off the back panel and expose the flue. The flue is usually either pressed together or is held in by 2 screws on the left and the right. Remove that and you will have access to the bottom of the flue and have the ability to wash the top of it in the sink (Just make sure its COMPLETELY dry before reinstalling). Hope this helps! • @Windycityequip

    That's not an easy task. And honestly, if there is grease around the components, and more importantly, up by the flame tubes, chances are you have a crack in your frypot somewhere and it could be a fire hazard. Without seeing it myself I'd have to advise that you buy a new fryer (if it's an economy fryer like the one in this video). If it's a big expensive bank fryer with computer controls and a filter system I'd recommend having a company come out to do it for you. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    Suggested video subject: How to do proper boil out of deep fryer? Today we tried to deep clean a four bank of Pitco fryers that do heavy volume but have been neglected for over one year. Disconnected quick disconnect gas lines and attempted to separate and scrape exterior surfaces of fryers and floor beneath, as well as do a boil out before opening time. Too much funk, not enough time. Wound up creating a fire hazard, dusting the kitchen with extinguisher dust and scaring the bejeezus out of staff. A few things we did wrong: Not allow sufficient time for major project. Not careful about where grease scrapings fell. (Do NOT let them fall down the flue vent) Set thermostat on fryer to usual 350 degrees instead of 212 during boil out.

    What's the best way to clean the burner? Can I insert anything in the burner orifices? Do I use a wire brush?

  • @Windycityequip

    @Windycityequip

    7 жыл бұрын

    Best way to clean the burners is usually compressed air/CO2. If they're REALLY bad you can soak them in soap & water and scrub with a wire brush, but make sure they're completely dry before reinstalling them otherwise you risk cracking the cast. And yes, you can insert something small into the orifice to clean, but you want to make sure you dont just push the debris into the manifold. Best way is to remove the orifice and use CO2 to blow from the inside out. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    I'm repairing the control board of a Hobart HFGC45 fryer which came with incomplete wiring to sensors and other devices in the fryer itself. I found a shorted decoder IC which I replaced and tested again. The board beeps almost continuously and some of the relays click on and off. I am afraid this board will behave that way until sensors and other stuff get connected, however, I haven't been able to find the wiring schematic between this controller and the rest of I/O devices, only parts lists and installation manuals. Is there a way you could help me locate this wiring schematic? Thanks in advance. By the way, good music and great videos you got. Rafael Larios

    +Rafael Larios cool let me know, but don't confuse the Model Number with the ML number. Hobart uses 3 numbers on their equipment 1) Model 2) ML and 3) Serial (don't ask me why). But they categorize their schematics by ML number so check the nameplate if you can and see if it lists an *ML Number* in addition to the Model & Serial. If you can't find it, I'll see what I can dig up without it. I'm sure I can find something for you.

    Hi there! Well, I believe I found the problem. The owner found another control like this that worked. I tested every component that could be removed from the bad control board and it turned out to be the control program EPROM. I also tested the microcontroller which produced an error upon start up, but proceeded to work afterwards. Is it possible to find this type of parts such as pre-programmed microcontrollers? I can copy the EPROM contents, though. I wonder if the microcontroller's code is protected. I will appreciate any help you could provide. Thank you for your help, sir.

    Hi there again Josh, Please, correct me if I am wrong. It seems the type of controller I mentioned can have its products programmed into the controller's memory. Being this the case, this may explain why I got the message "CHECK PROG." upon start up. I got a manual for this HGFC45 Hobart Fryer and it seems the only error messages that are shown at turn on time that stop the machine from operating are: "TEMP TOO HIGH", "CALL SERVICE", and arrows flashing which indicate a RAM failure. I am not familiar with the operation of this fryer, but, any clue as to what "CHECK PROG." means? Thanks in advance for your help. Rafael Larios

    Soap and water is the best. Propane burns very rich so I'm not surprised that you have this problem, I see it ALL the time in food trucks. Regular maintenance is key. Used something strong and skinny to clear the burner holes, soak in soapy water, rinse with some pressure, and always, always make sure they are 100% dry before using them in operation.

    I was told to never use water because it would leave a residue. I've done it in the past and never had a problem.

    You can absolutely use water. Some water may leave a residue, particularly if it's hard water, but it will burn off just fine. Just always make sure your burners are COMPLETELY dry before replacing, otherwise they could crack. Thanks for watching!
