In today's episode we are showing you all the entire process of Dylan and RL building a grind box. Dylan recently got the idea that he wanted to learn how to grind on his bike so he put the money up for a grind box.
So this video is all about how to build a BMX Grind Box. We will be coming out with videos of us learning how to grind in the near future so stay on the look out for that and as always thank you guys for watching and...
Keep Riding!

(CAPTIONS)
We just picked up supplies to build Dylan's grind box. Yep, so you guys saw we were walking through Home Depot getting our wood and coping. So you might have been wondering what we are planning to build. And as RL said it is, is it a fun box would you say or is it just a box? No it is a grind box because that is all you can do.
Funbox would have like you know transitions all that. I see. Yeah so I would say the last week or two I got a wild hair for wanting to learn how to grind on the bike.Because I had never done that before obviously. You said you've done some grinding.
Very minimal not on the pegs not so much on the peg very minimal. So what you would grind on the pedal? No I grinded a car in that Santee contest But it was more like my sprocket and back tire. Interesting, okay. Whatever would hit kind of thing. Oh yeah because you had the best guard so you could grind on that. No I think I was on the general then. You know those pictures we've been looking at.
But I am saying like when you created The Bash guard that was made we're grinding on right? Yes. Okay. Yes. Yeah so that is what our video is going to be today. Just showing you guys us building the Box. Our plan is to make it I think 2 ft tall by 2 ft wide by 10ft long.
In case you guys were wondering wood has gone up tremendously. Over this last I guess during covid. Holy crap. I mean it was like a sheet of plywood was $80 80 something dollars.
And that was the cheapest. Yeah that is half inch knots on both sides, low-grade. It wasn't chipboard but man $80. Yeah it wasn't chipboard. I saw chipboard was like $60 a piece. It used to be 12 to $16 for both of them they were both the same. Yeah two-by-fours weren't too bad they were about 10 to $11 each but still. There's used to be $6.
Yeah this is an expensive project. So tell them how much you have invested so far. Yeah so so far I think we are about 350 $360 into this. I thought it was going to be like $150.
Yeah. But it is going to be about the memories and the bonding we have right? That's what it is all about. And man we picked the thickest type we could find. Yeah. I don't know how we are going to drill that nothing but. I don't know probably go through about ten bits.
Man we have been lucky this last week the weather here in Monterey has been sunny and like high 70s. It's kind of hot right now. I like it. It's kind of hot for me. It's nice.
You're either too hot or too cold. OK so anything else you want to say before we get started? So I am thinking we will get that plywood over there and two-by-fours over there and then we will start laying it out how we want it to go. Ok. And start seeing how it fits up on the ground. Alright we are going to start unloading the truck then.

RL, I recently found your channel, love the fact that you are still involved with the bike scene. I got to see you ride at a Redline show at Wooden Wheels Bike Shop in Newark Delaware around 86/87, great show. I really want to thank you for two things that day. The first would be the tech advice of switching from the Redline Forklifter neck to the Hutch neck to eliminate the squeak I was get from running the ACS Rotor, and second signing the page I had from a newspaper about the steeplechase you did for the show That's Incredible.
