RL Osborn BMX Freestyle

RL Osborn BMX Freestyle

Official KZread Channel of RL Osborn

Hey guys, very excited to be here reconnecting with all of you! My son and I are creating this channel so we can add videos of myself getting back into riding and relearning a lot of the tricks I used to do back in the day! We will also be doing Bike Builds on here as well as watching/showing footage sent in from fans like you in the BMX Freestyle Community.

You can check out my website at rlosborn.com which has Merch for sale and much more. My email is [email protected] and that is the best place to send in any BMX Footage you would like use to share. Also feel free to send in any ideas for videos you would like to see me do on here.

Bunny hopping a 26" BMX would be nice to see. I've got a 26" Redline and there just seems to be something about that longer top tube that I can't seem to get the front end up like a 20" bike. There hasta be something I'm missing.

As always, a fun video. You mentioned spraying the dirt down with a mixture of water and glue. I've never heard of that. It's one of those commonsense things where after you hear it you say to yourself, " Duh.... That's so simple, why didn't I think of that?" However, do you just use the old white Elmers glue and water that down or is there some other type of glue to use before I run out to Home Depot and buy Elmers glue by the 50-gallon drum?

I just found this classic treasure and it brings back great memories. I am an 80's kid (my favorite decade). RL was the reason I ended up getting a Redline RL20II. It's a shame we have to grow old.

Good honesty about people actually knowing how to talk and ride like real Bmxer's. Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth, wether it's an opinion or fact. So damned if you do, damned if you don't. First time hearing that Jose Yanez had coat hangers over his feet doing the flip.

I was always told to stomp on the peg with your leading foot & lift the bike with the balancing foot & put the nose of your seat in the crack of your ass so that it gives you a better balance point .

Just like that RL is gone again. I don’t think some of these legends realize what they mean to people. Hopefully he did not leave us again I would hope his son would give us an update at the least,no they don’t owe us but that’s the wrong way to look at it.

I love the HS33, the bike industry went on with disc brakes but on touring bikes these brakes are far better, reliable, easy replacement of the pads and low cost.

I'm finding it real hard to bunny hop more than about 4" on my 26" BMX. How to really get a big bike up in the air would be cool. I'm really glad that I found your channel guys. Thanx

It's good to see the basics simplified and explained. I can't tell you how many years I wasted as a kid trying a trick and assuming that either I'm faulty or my bike is a P.O.S. Tank until I saw and read the tutorials in BMXA. I'm 58 and was forced into retirement due to an accident 8 years ago. Finding out about the Big Bike BMX craze and the resurgence of BMX in older guys has inspired me back into the fold. Bah Bah Bah Bah Bah, I'm lovin' it! All this time I thought I was having a midlife crisis for wanting to relive my youthful, freestyle days. Either I fit in or we're all loosin' it. Screw em', I'm gonna have fun weather anyone likes it or not. Now get the hell off my lawn!🏴‍☠🚴‍♂

Sorry, but all my "donut / maple-bar" stories are from when I was in college, and I wasn't riding very much, but they are all, how should I say it, slightly pornographic. The Kneesaver bars have always looked very cool while actually having a purpose to the design. The Magura brakes should come with an optional air-bag attachment for the handlebars. It looks like they could really launch you if your unaware of their power. Great job. It's turning into a functional piece of art.🤙

I have seen Rad a million times and just saw it in the theater again March 21, 2024. The credits with you and Martin is so incredible. When you both reach over and shake hands there is something so powerful in that it gives chills - the theater I was in exploded into cheers and applause

Portland long before it got all whacked out. That same general area is like Mad Max now but one can still find good hidden spots by the river to practice flatland. Gotta love the many moves you can get out of an infinity roll, as seen here. Just might have to see what I can do myself at one of those spots in 2024. Cheers! But of course trying a backwards bar ride as an old man and eating the pavement hurts just thinking about it.

I bet if you used liquid nitrogen to "shrink" your cups they'd actually "drop" into place without any pressing. Once they warm back up you have your press fit. I do this at work all the time with an array of precision fit bearings, etc. Just submerge your part for a minute or two and handle it with some pliers or appropriate gloves if you have them. Works like a dream.

I met R.L. (Robert Louis) I believe Osborne at the AFA West Palm Beach event during my highlights in the expert class back then at the time I was on the team with MCS will billy swoop. I believe that was around the same time of the video footage in your video here somewhere around 85 or 86. I still have video footage of RL not competing at the moment but outside in the parking lot practicing and I actually recall the trick he was quickly trying to master having a bit of difficulty in and it was an infinity roll directly into either a cherry picker or pedal picker. It was an honor being around him at that time. He brought up Josh white, I recall him very well also when he was with GT. RL was always my inspiration over the years , I am shocked since those days how far freestyle has advanced.
