They did not want to hurt them just on a human level of not wanting to hurt an innocent person if avoidable. The ending is very different from the movie: *SPOILERS IF YOU WANT TO READ THE BOOK!* In the book, Wen is actually killed by accident when Andrew and Leonard struggle over a gun. Another thing about tsunamis that probably everyone already knows anyways, but in case not: before tsunamis make landfall the water retreats back into the sea, revealing seabed that shouldn't be above water. If the trough of the Tsunami reaches the coast first the water will recede before the business part of the tsunami arrives, but in about half of the cases, the crest will make landfall first. So the water receding is indeed a good indication that you should (quite literally) run for the hills, but if the water doesn't recede, it doesn't mean there won't be a tsunami.

Grew up in Colorado on a mountain where the nearest neighbor was like half a mile away. It was nothing but dense forest. Multiple bears came into our garage, decks, etc. famous for having an old lady who fed bears and then was mauled to death by them. Yes the woods are no joke. I don’t care how experienced you are. In fact the more confident you are about your own abilities the more likely you are to be a victim of the woods. Don’t get cocky. You are human and your overconfidence in yourself will be your down fall. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Like what psychological techniques could they do, and how could they truly confirm their visions. Perhaps to start, somehow show the family a live newsfeed of the diasasters via some satellite internet. And have each member in private write exactly what they saw, as well as explain to the survivors their beliefs of the supernatural, perhaps they recognised clues of this same doomsday a few years back etc

Like all the disasters seem to be happening after the so called sacrifices. I wouldn't be surprised if they got visions of their deaths in order causing the end of the world, so they'd just want to speed up the process by getting the cure out of the way.

They are the harbingers of the end. At the end of every day, they give a choice, if they are refused, they kill one of their own to bring a plague. I believe that if they decided to not do that, the apocalypse would just begin with no time given to the family to decide. Also, I believe that they get partially possessed by their duties after every decision. The moment the family refuses, you can see their eyes glazing they just start acting on autopilot. After the sacrifice is done, they revert back to themselves.

Idk, my bro. I'm usually with you on most of these. Not all of them, only bcz, they are so genius that I never would've been able to think of the ways to escape and avoid some pretty terrible and crazy movie circumstances/death. I agree with a lot of your points and especially for the thought process of each character. If what they weren't right about or was lying about didn't come true. But since it did, I feel like the rest of your points would not only not help, but could actually make things worse. I.e. when they killed Sabrina, Leonard ended up having to kill Sabrina off before time which, sped up the process to Leonard having to take his life. It seems like they had a day of consideration/ and per each doomsdayers. If so, that mean they had another day to try to out think of what to do about Leonard. But instead he was forced to self delete himself after Sabrina. And with all of the doomsdayers gone, they actually see that everything the doomsdayers said was indeed true. Killing them off sooner would've doomed the world and them much sooner. They ultimately didn't beat it and were literally forced to pick between the options the doomsdayers said they had. It'd be a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" like situation. There is no truly winning or beating this situation.

What would have happened if the couple would have made a decision to sacrifice one of the Doomsday people? They came to decision so wouldn't that have counted, instead of sacrificing one of their own family members? Or perhaps make it an easy decision, injure one of them to the point they're going to bleed out so that obviously you would sacrifice them before the world came to an end, before the other person died for no good reason. Vaniikos from an impossible decision to a super easy one.

They had to sacrifice a loved one. If they sacrificed a stranger then its not a meaningful sacrifice. And the 4 horsemen were already sacrificing themselves to prolong the apocalypse, so killing them off early would only jumpstart the end of the world

I think I’d make that sacrifice since Leonard predicted word for word a news report.
