How to Be Comfortable Being Alone | Robin Sharma

📖 You can Order My New Book "The Everyday Hero Manifesto" here: rshar.ma/EHMM
Most people on the planet today are terrified of being alone.
And yet, there are multiple benefits that come to the leader who carries the wisdom of being alone more often in this noisy world:
1. It is in solitude that you build intimacy with your gifts plus talents.
2. It is in quietude that we can do the deep inner-work that allows us to bring our finest games to our marketplaces (and communities).
3. It is when we are alone that we receive the opportunity to build a relationship with who we truly are.
4. Great geniuses leverage serenity to capture the insights that allow them to disrupt their fields and make history.

I am always alone. I really like to be alone and quiet. While I'm alone I like to day dream and think about the things I love to do every single day. Being alone is the most best thing to do when your sad or happy because some alone time could make you figure out things that your confused with or things your trying to understand. Sometimes you need to be alone and have time for your self. It is sometimes healthy to be alone and quiet rather than being loud and with your friends all the time.Thats all I have to say. I hope y'all understand what I'm trying to say because I'm not really good at explaining :).

Men play games. I am not a dog anymore. I don't want to deal with dating chaos or relationship chaos anymore. I found this and I want to learn how to be alone again. I was a child, I knew how to be alone and happy. I have forgotten about it for many years and I want to bring comfortable again.

Same here Let's see how it goes Don't know why, but sounds scary. Scary because, most of the time you talk to yourself, reason with yourself, you are in a loop, What if it never stops ? You know the very damn thing, but your heart pulls you to some other direction, and mind stretches you to some other domains and you are in a constant fight with yourself. How can you be happy living that way ? I guess, one can point that even if you are struggling, one day you gonna learn it and be happy with your new self but that doesn't sound logical to me. Bcz if it were something to happen to you the way you imagine, then it should not be a struggle at the very first place. Of course it gonna be a new experience, but it has to be a smooth transition. One is struggling bcz its against their nature, against what they really are at the core. Those who are happy alone( if they are not fooling themselves) would be miserable with the crowd. I mean, he can't be made to be happy with people around. Its like we as individual, are different from one another and can't fool ourselves of being happy when we are wearing only a mask of happiness. I am not saying one can't change themselves. All I am saying is that being disciplined and having a strong will is not enough. There are several factors which brings the lasting change and it takes time. So the idea of changing at will no matter what your intention is something I don't think gonna work ever. If you follow it religiously, after sometime, you gonna feel like you are living someone else's life, residing in someone else's body, or in other words, feeling like your emotions, your thoughts has been hijacked. How long can you brainwash yourself ???? If someone is not a loner by his/her very nature, then he/she still gonna need someone trust worthy atleast to talk his/her heart out and the best one can do to accelerate the change is increase the time with himself/herself but still it gonna take a long time or may be very long time to slowly change into a new yourself. How are you doing these days ? Can you share your life experience ? How did you handle all these ? Any suggestions ?

there's a limit to this. i am alone pretty much all day every day - I work from home, fairly limited hours. i have absolutely no problem being alone and quiet and with my own thoughts. I've been single most of my life. I've travelled a lot (on my own) and done quite a few different things, probs more than most. but eventually it gets old. going to dinner by yourself, hiking by yourself, travelling by yourself, gardening by yourself, going to the beach by yourself, doing yoga by yourself, cooking by yourself, learning to scuba dive by yourself, seeing a play by yourself, etc etc. it gets old eventually. and it's expensive.

Girlfriend of 4 Years left me recently. We talked about our future all the time even up until the end, when she decided to she wanted to live the party life. I tried talking to other women and all that and it only made me miss her more. This is the true path to growth and recovery from anything. As sad as it sounds, you are the only person you can 100% trust in life, but that should be something were okay with. Stay strong everyone.

So true . I'm doing this now. People that bring me down. I'm leaving them behind . I use to need them. Then I saw a picture of myself in my 40. I ddint rely on people . I came in did what I had to and left them to it.

Always was seeking love my whole life, trying to makeup for love I didn't get as a child but spent 37 years married to wife beating husband, I finally woke up and realized I would eventually be dead, I looked around and didn't see any support, I decided to be my own best friend, I spend most of my time alone when I'm not working, lm learning to appreciate it and appreciate me as a person, self love is the best love you can truly give yourself, you can be your own best friend, by doing so, you will never ever settle for less than you deserve.

I know that my being alone can give me an anxiety attack. I’m trying to learn about myself. You are probably much younger than me + I’d hate to see you go through life like I did. Don’t do it, Emmanuel! You enjoy every moment you can in life - whether you are alone or not. The trick is that if you learn to really like yourself, opportunity will knock!! Enjoy this time for now + take care of yourself!!

I have come to the level where I’m listening to this because I wanna find some inner peace with myself. I was a truly, truly loud and proud extrovert until life said I’ve had enough of it. I fell so so deep into darkness and I have picked myself up so many times. I tell myself that life does this every time. I tried to gain strength and continue living as an extrovert because I felt the happiest being loud and socialising. And again I was proven wrong. This time I have had enough and want to actually take a break and isolate myself from everyone and actually finding who I truly am. I wanna figure out if this is really a better way of living. I wanna find peace and happiness being with myself and no one else.

I used to LOVE and CRAVE alonetime (introvert) although I have the best husband and kids 💞 Then one day I developed panic disorder. It's been 6 months and right now is the first time I'm home alone (ok, my son is in his teenage cave) and here I am googling how to be comfortable home alone 🤣 I just want to be independent again. I will get there, I am in therapy and have started meditating but it will take time... 🥀

As I reflected after this talk, I realized I've been feeling alone because I left myself alone. I did all these self improvement all these years but for thought and want of having others fill my cup. I hated my own company because I saw myself as uninteresting, and so I sought affirmations, adventure, and intimacy from others. But after listening to this talk, everything felt different. I see myself now. I am no longer afraid of staying up alone during late nights. Actually, the perspective shifted. I am not and will never be alone.

Loneliness is different to some. Some people have days where they can take a break from being social and can go back to it at any time when it gets too much. Some people are lonely because they don't have any other choice. I just happen to fall in the latter category. They always say "reach out to someone" like they assume everybody has someone - but they don't understand some of us have no one to reach out to.

I feel like I'm alone although I'm married and it's not a good feeling. You get married to not be alone not the other way around. I wish my hubby did stuff with my son and I, but he doesn't , we hybranate at home like old people when I'm not at all old I'm in my early 30's. You get married to have a partner who wants to enjoy life with you. I feel like I have wasted alot of years by doing nothing, no family vacation and doing things togather, 12 and a half yrs is alot of years wasted. This is true and a sad reality.

Idf your husband won't join in and wants to sit on the couch watching tv in his spare free time then at least you and your son can give yourselves some kind of a life and may lead to making friends with others.
