@@juliereminiec4937 Does it matter? Christians would not take a second to consider if they are hurting the feelings of pagans, occultists, and witches with their comments. Besides, Georgina should be able to decide what she calls herself. The very last place Christian based censorship should exist is on an essoteric KZread channel that heavily discusses ceremonial magick.

i totally relate! it can be rough when you’re doing something you care about and you feel you’re not doing it good enough. if you have trouble starting, give yourself smaller increments of time to study and take breaks so your brain doesn’t get fatigued. if you’re finding it frustrating that you don’t take enough notes, you could entirely reread a section or scan for parts that you remember stuck out and take the notes you need. if you want to remember to do this note taking strategy, put post it tabs at every juncture you want to comprise a section. good luck, and be kind to yourself! you are doing something challenging to your brain and so it’s gonna challenge you back!

Something that's helped me read Crowley: Don't be afraid to call him out on his bullshit. Making it a dialogue with the text (Descartes compared reading to an interview) is very helpful to approach it critically, and once you find the rhythm you'll start noticing his sense of humour. Also: Lon Milo Duquette's book on Thoth is a great primer (in general he's a great secondary source for Crowley) Also Also: Speech in the Silence is a great podcast for Thelemic ideas

Here's my own list (in no particular order): 1. Study everything. Knowledge is power. 2. Meditate multiple times a day. This'll strengthen your will and your senses. 3. Practice often. Practice makes perfect. 4. Maintain the cleanliness of yourself and your space. Set up clear boundaries and be cognizant about what you've been around and what you bring with you from situation to situation. 5. The best way to keep yourself safe is not involve yourself with things that could cause issues. If you don't know how to engage with something properly then don't do it. Play stupid games and you'll win plenty of stupid prizes. 6. Be willing to take responsibility and to grow as a person. Your actions have consequences (good and bad). In my personal experience, being a magician will either help you become the best version of yourself or it'll inflate your ego and lead you down the path of being an outright asshole and it all has to do with if you are already the kind of person who is willing to actually put in the work. I could add more but doing these alone will make you an advanced occultist over time.

Prior to studying and practicing the occult, I was a martial artist. That really helped me understand a lot about these ideas and helped me in my occult studies. In the martial arts world, there is a lot of debate about the "best" martial art, and "best" techniques, and "rank" and "advanced techniques" and "secret techniques" and so forth. After studying for some time, and fighting competitively, it's generally a simple answer regarding "who is better?" and it isn't very hard to figure out (though everyone wants to believe in the mystical/magickal 'technique' of the esoteric master). There isn't much to be said in terms of "which art?"or "which technique?" or "which belt/rank?" If you wanted to predict who would win a bout, it was always the person who practiced regularly and put the in time on the mat. ALWAYS. Tae Kwon Do, Kook Sul Wan, Wing Chung, Judo, whatever art you want to name. I saw them all. The person who worked hard and put in hours in won the bout. Also, the people who were serious, put A LOT of that time in on practicing the basics, and practicing those basics to an OCD level. Those who put that kind of time in on the basics, usually had an edge over those who worked hard on "advanced" techniques when all else was equal. Quite frankly, I saw some pretty "magical" stuff. But the answer to "how" they did those amazing feats was always really simple, when you pinned the person down and asked them about it: "Train hard." So, as below, so above. I generally think this is true with "Advanced" Occult studies, as well.

@13:40 - Read things that aren't occult! Yes! My 5.5 years of graduate-level biomedical science education helped me SO MUCH when I was learning about personal body energies and how to manipulate those energies. There was more help in that science-based education than any occult book could ever provide.

i'd add: read "holy books" from multiple religions or mystical schools, and also scientific books. for the holy books try to contemplate what they were going for, what the esoteric meaning could be, instead of just looking it up or listening to others (that helps too tho, and reading scientific papers on those texts help too) - the lectura divina reading, or the PARDES reading is good for contemplation, or even what can be found in Vajrayana Buddhism (intellectual exploration, focusing on visualizations of the imagery of the text, holding onto the changing subtle sensations/feelings that arise from them etc.) for the scientific stuff, you could just dust off your knowledge of high school biology, chemistry, or physics; at some point great sorcerers were polymaths, and they were well-versed in multiple sciences and if you look into alchemy, you could see how they use scientific or natural processes to explain esoteric transformations. and at one point science wasn't separate from occult practices like nowadays for daily practice i once did a schedule of what an ideal day would look like, and even if i missed something i carried on like i did the thing and it helped a lot - although life happened and i had to pause my daily practice after that, not worrying if you've missed something and just carrying on is a nice way to start or restart a practice

Thank you so much for this, you really brought home the main points of what to keep in mind when going into the more advanced tiers of practice. Keeping the basics in mind is always super important, because as you said, it's not beginner stuff, it's the fundamentals! Even the basic banishings will shift in meaning and structure throughout different levels of attainment. Also being persistent in practice is key, even before going into the more complex Rituals, since they keep you armed and alert for the journey ahead.

As a non practitioner of anything religion just want to take a lil moment to thank you for your talks as they have cleared up several questions ive come across in my many studies (guess that makes me a scholar of sorts) you have a way of explaining that is both informative and witty. Keeps me coming back...i could go on and on so suffice it to say thank you for letting anyone hang out...that you research it do it and then explain it...its a rare find. So thank you. Also that you have not locked yourself into anything speaks volumes about your "will"... that you would communicate the same to the public...well that just separates you from the fakes (or cult leaders in my book) that's all Nice crown or tiara or what ever its called btw. ✌😎🎸

Thanks for another great video- lots of great insight. You're so right about reading everything! And starting practice immediately is good. Crowley said 'just work'. Our Coven memorizes all Ritual lines and actions, and this is truly helps internalize the energies the practice utilizes. Similarly, there was a Golden Dawn Order that required the 5 Knowledge Lectures be memorized, and the Thelemic Golden Dawn suggests memorizing a chapter of Liber AL for each of the first 3 grades. One good thing about daily practice in anything, is that if you have to miss a Ritual, a practice (Tai Chi for example) you know you will do it soon; Resh in a few hours, or at least the following day. This realization can help alleviate guilt, which is only useful when it serves to motivate. As far as down times, 'stagnant times' or that feeling that I've done this all before, Time has taught me that Time itself, is one of the greatest teachers.

I feel like people tie their identity to their craft wayyy too often. I used to think I needed to know exactly what kind of witch I was right off the bat and couldn't practice anything outside of that. When you make that shift from "I'm a ____ witch" or "I'm a ____ practitioner" to "I practice ___" or "I'm learning ___" if feels less concrete and more like you can expand based on what you want to learn. We don't stay the same as people so our craft will never stay the same, the more we learn the more it changes :)

I suppose to answer the question of "where do i go from beginner? How do i get more advanced?" You will need to answer the question of: what do you want or need? I suppose you could say that would be the fourth leg or limb. Heh. What do you want or need to successfully live and survive and live a happy and fun life? What do you want? What do you need? Thus then what is your goal or objective? Where do you want to go? What do you want to do in your life? So. What exactly you want can be separate from what you need. You remember the saying "be careful with what you wish for"...? Ever seen the movies the Wishmaster or Djinn movies? Lol. One scene i remember in the wishmaster movie series is this college girl wanted and wished to lose weight. So she danced with the djinn in front of the protagnist woman. And she wished to lose weight. And so the djinn sliced up her stomach and had literally all of her guts spilling out. And thus she got what she wanted: to lose weight. Lol. Losing body organs and all of her guts coming out, yes that would make anyone lose weight and be lighter. Rofl. Even though technically she could have easily gone on a diet and worked out, and gotten more safe and alive results, lol 😆. So first is what do you Need? Kids and adults love eating fattening food or junk food. And clearly want it. But it is not necessarily good or healthy for them, it is not what they Need, but what they want. What people want may not always be what they Need. So. What do you Need? What do you need to live and survive and to be safe and alive and healthy? Then, what do you want in order to play and have fun and be happy? So, for the fourthimb or leg. To advance the question is where do you want to go? What are your goals and objectives? What do you Need? Then what do you want? Most of the time Need and want are separate. But sometimes Need and want is the same, but its less often. And now that you have your goals and objectives, go use magic to help you make it happen! 😀. P.S. Magic is like a tool. Just like a piece of furniture or book or whatever object. Its like a tool (just dont abuse it). Magic like all items and objects and stuff, is meant to help you better live and survive while also getting the things that you want and Need for you life. To live a good and happy life. Just like a piece of furniture, a bed or chair you Need a bed to sleep, or food to continue to live, or art supplies to have fun and play and be happy, etc. Just an example. So what do you Need ( to live a safe, alive, healthy life?) [Work]. And what do you want (to live a good, fun, and happy life?) [Play]. Now go practice magic to get it and get more advanced in magic! 😀 😉. Good luck!

Excuse my ignorance (I'm autistic and don't get innuendo at all!) but could you please explain being subbed for 93 days to meet the HGA.... Really sorry if this is a stupid question.

If your "advanced" you produce your own gnosis. Its not just about memorizing systems and repeating things like a parrot. Your supposed to produce your own gnodis.

I definitely appreciate the part about not getting attached to an identity or a label. I am an atheist witch. And I’d still call myself that, if it changes later on that’s fine. But I’ve had to just learn to let people, even other occultists say what they want about atheists. Most everyone dislikes atheists but most people also act like they are fine with me. So their whole mocking or calling atheists stupid and so on is fine. Because they are thinking of some straw man dumb person that they made up. And not me. I’m not all atheists & even other atheists occasionally get upset when they find out I have no problem with the occult. I’m me, I’m not my label. And if it bothers people so much then they can fucking call me whatever they want. Debating what a real athiest is, it’s just a waste of time.
